  19. http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/?action=read&id=382060 Alessandro Del Piero later this week will decide their future. To write this morning's la Gazzetta dello Sport, which emphasizes how the teams interested in the former Juventus captain is currently 3: Sydney Fc, which offered a two-year by 2 million per season, the Southampton who came to 1 million for two years more bonuses, and Sion, with the same offer of English. Del Piero is tempted by the adventure in the Premier League, but the Australians in the next few hours could raise.

    Paul merson

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/9515826/Do-yourself-a-favour-and-give-Soccer-Saturday-and-Paul-Mersons-nationwide-arena-tour-a-wide-berth.html Merson is moron-in-chief, the Grand High Moron, the Moron With The Child In His Eyes. An incontinent mouth, delivering slavering invective on seemingly very little knowledge and even less research, Merson appears to regard paid punditry as a noisy interlude between fried food breaks. On Saturday afternoon, a discussion of Southampton’s new midfielder Gaston Ramirez was interrupted by Merson holding up a piece of paper, exclaiming: “Does that say ELEVEN MILLION?” Merson, you see, was only now learning of a Premier League club’s record signing, via the crib sheet that had been placed before him. That’s the sort of calibre we’re dealing with here.

  22. The home grown rule only applies to the squad of 25 (at least 8 home-grown). You can have as many u-21s as you like, but they must be u21 on 1st January of the year the season starts (ie: 1 Jan 2012 for this season). Ramirez was 21 on 2nd December 2011 (accordind to Wiki) so too old to qualify.

  24. Linked with Villa http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-rickie-1283963 Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is weighing up a deadline-beating move for namesake Southampton striker Rickie Lambert. Villa have had a £5.5million bid for Genk striker Christian Benteke turned down by the Belgian club, so are now looking at last-minute alternatives before the summer window closes on Friday night. Lambert, 30, has built up a prolific reputation in League One and the Championship with Southampton and that has attracted interest, with Championship side Blackburn and now Villa seeing if they can test boss Nigel Adkins' resolve to keep him. The Villa boss had great success at Norwich with Grant Holt, who has also spent most of his career in the lower divisions, and he is also shopping on a budget in his new job. That is why Lambert appeals to a club who desperately need to strengthen their striking options as they face up to what could be a long hard season.
