  1. We did! https://www.premierleague.com/news/1869523 25 Squad players (*Home grown) Adams, Che Sac Everton Fred* Armstrong, Stuart Bednarek, Jan Bertrand, Ryan* Djenepo, Moussa Forster, Fraser Gerard* Ings, Daniel William John* Johnson, Tyreke Martin* Latham, Kingsley Finn* Lewis, Harry Charles John* Long, Shane Patrick* McCarthy, Alex Simon* McQueen, Samuel James* Redmond, Nathan Daniel Jerome* Stephens, Jack* Vestergaard, Jannik Vidal, Oriol Romeu Walcott, Theo James* Walker-Peters, Kyle Leonardus* Ward-Prowse, James Michael Edward* U21 players (Contract and Scholars) Abdul Karim, Mohamed Salisu Agbontohoma, David Osaretim Babic, Goran Gogo Bailey, Samuel James Beach, Edward James Bellis, Samuel Lawrence Alexander Brennan, Sean Anthony Burnett, Ethan Darren Bycroft, Jack Thomas Carson, Matthew Chauke, Kgaogelo Davey, Teddy Jay Defise, Lucas Nsiona K Diallo, Ibrahima Edwards, Milan Diamond Lazane Ferry, William Finnigan, Ryan James Hall, Matthew Gary Jankewitz, Alexandre Tounde Dimitri Keogh, Seamas Kpohomouh, Pascal Ledwidge, Kameron Malcolm Lillienberg, Gustav Erik Mitchell, Ramello Dejorn Morris, James William Nlundulu, Dan O'Connor, Thomas James Obafemi, Michael Oluwadurotimi Olaigbe, Kazeem Aderemi J. Olufunwa, Oludare Samuel Araba Otseh-Taiwo, Zuriel Jonathan Pambou Makaya, Leon Payne, Lewis James Pearce, Luke Edward Andrew Ramsay, Kayne Robise, Enzo Rodriguez Borja, Jeremi Alexander Ross-Lang, Fedel Rus, Marco Scott, Tommy John Slattery, Callum Smales Braithwaite, Benjamin Smallbone, William Anthony Patrick Smith, Jayden Pharell Llamar Mills Tchaptchet, Wandja Allan Tella, Nathan Tizzard, William James Tshaka, Kaya Sean Turner, Jack Henry Valery, Yan Vokins, Jake Watts, Caleb Cassius Woods, Harvey James Wright, Oliver Lennon George So that's 20 players in the "25 man squad" - all as expected, with the 6 on loan players all omitted. That includes 4 goakeepers. And 54 under 21s - including 4 who have been loaned out (Brennan, Bycroft, Hall and O'Connor). All as expected apart from Rodriguez Borja, Jeremi Alexander. Never let it be said that the club is conventional in the way it confirms new players!
  2. Yes those are the remaining omissions from the First Team and B Team. Almost certainly website maintenance. The U18s is missing all the new scholars and Ethan Burnett (assuming he's still at the club). There does seem to be be consistency in that all loaned out players are not listed - in previous years it has been hit and miss. I recall Barnes being excluded from the September list when we had to exclude someone because we exceeded 25 players. He was added back in the January list. I thought it was the season before last but perhaps it was last season.
  3. Under 18s beat Leicester 8 [EIGHT]-2 earlier U18s v Leicester City U18s
  4. Opening post updated to refelct yesterday's loans. We have to submit our 25 man squad next week - it looks to me as if we will name 20 players, 4 of whom are 'keepers! So, just 16 outfield players, one of which is recovering from a long term injury. 1. Alex McCarthy 2. Kyle Walker-Peters 3. Ryan Bertrand 4. Jannik Vestergaard 5. Jack Stephens 6. Oriol Romeu 7. Shane Long 8. James Ward-Prowse 9. Danny Ings 10. Ché Adams 11. Nathan Redmond 12. Moussa Djénépo 17. Stuart Armstrong 32. Theo Walcott 35. Jan Bednarek 41. Harry Lewis 44. Fraser Forster 45. Sam McQueen 51. Tyreke Johnson Kingsley Latham That assumes we don't name any of the loaned out players who are over 21 (we may name Sims I suppose, though we don't need to as we can adjust the list in January when his loan ends). Full season loans 28. Angus Gunn 42. Jake Hesketh Wesley Hoedt Mohamed Elyounoussi Mario Lemina Until January 2021 39. Josh Sims
  5. Agree with all this - there were times when his contribution was obvious (I recall coming on as a second half sub at Bournemouth) but so often what he did didn't hit the headlines. Reminds me in that respect of the importance of Nick Holmes to Lawrie's side of the mid 70s through to the mid 80s. We had loads of flair, big name players but somehow if Holmes was not on the team sheet we always seemed to lose. Had goals in him as well - even when he played at left back. I recall a goal from the half way line against Watford when we played them off the park in the first leg of a league cup tie at the Dell and won 4-0. (We lost the second leg 7-1. ) I wonder if Davo has coaching ambitions - if he's stil in the area may be hoping for a role at Saints in the future.
  6. 7. Saints U18 v Brighton U18 U18s playing Brighton at home this morning - 1-0 down after 20 minutes
  8. I think he must be. Wasn't he training with the first team at the end of last season, post lockdown? There are a few players that don't appear to have featured in any matches this season. These include Latham, McQueen (for obvious reasons), Burnett (who was offered an extended scholarship, presumably because he was injured last season so perhaps he still is or perhaps he didn't take up the offer), Olufunwa, Smales Braithwaite, Sam Bailey and Jack Turner. Probably due to injuries in most cases.
  9. https://www.southamptonfc.com/b-team Good to see that, belatedly, the B team profiles have been updated. Ignoring loaned out players, most of the missing players are now included though no sign of Sam McQueen (injured) or Kingsley Latham (out on loan perhaps?), and I'm surprised that Keogh and Defise are still showing in the U18 list (which more generally remains out of date).

  11. It may be partly down to the limit on overage players. The rules on who qualifies as an under 21 is different from the Premier League (more restrictive). 1.At least six of the starting eleven players must be aged under 21 as at 30th June 2020 (we've just met this rule as Ramsay, Tchaptchet, Ferry, Jankewitz, Chauke and Mitchell are all U21 according to that definition). But Hesketh, Slattery, N'Lundulu, Valery and Lewis are not. So in order to accommodate Sims one of these five over 21s would have had to be omitted. AND 2. No more than two players who are aged 21 or over at 30 June 2020 and have made 40 or more appearances in a First Team Fixture by 30 June 2020 are named in the 18. As far as I can tell only Hesketh falls into that category (Sims would also if he'd been selected)
  12. No change in any of the numbers from last season. Although the subs' numbers aren't shown, I've seen on another site that they are the same as last season as well.
  13. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=u18+premier+league#sie=m;/g/11k8fz71x8;2;/g/11b6rh6xxp;dt;fp;1;; U18s lost at home to Crystal Palace yesterday following a stoppage time winner
  14. Yes, assuming previous seasons' practice, the 25 man squads are announced after the window closes. I assume squad numbers (i.e. the consolidated list of all clubs' numbers) will be the same (for Saints, that will probably list numbers for most of the B team though some will be confirmed next week when we play in the EFL Trophy). Certainly last year squad numbers were published alongside squad lists in early September. Transfermarket only tend to make changes to correct or update data when there is an official source for information (e.g. official club site or Premier League) I assume therefore that, as Sims and Hesketh are not listed in any squad on the OS, it has listed them where the OS previously listed them i.e.first team. I don't think it's age related as Sims still qualifies as U23 this season. I don't know whether one game is enough for TM to transfer them into the B squad but I've submitted updates citing last night's game - it's at the discretion of the site as to whether it's accepted. Despite this, I've found the TM site to be one of the more reliable squad lists. There is provision for players to be listed in more than one list e.g. a B team player that plays occasionally for the first team could be listed in both. Sam McQueen (who like Hesketh is also over 23) is another who is arguably in the wrong list on TM. I doubt they would move him as he (along with several other players) still isn't listed on the OS and there is no match evidence to cite Missing players include Ramsay, Latham, O'Connor and - perhaps more understandbly, Hoedt, Carillo and all the loaned out players. The OS still lists O'Driscoll and Kozak in thte B team, both of whom have left and its U18 list is even more of a car crash - contains several B team players, several who have left and omits all the new U18 intake (apart from that ....).
  15. Did anyone else notice that we were one substitution away from having numbers 1 to 11 on the field at the same time yesterday? In the event Djenepo came on for Smallbone so we were 1 to 12 but excluding 7. Just me then!
  16. https://www.arsenal.com/fixture/academy/2020-Sep-12/southampton-u18#!teams Report on the U18s deafeat at Arsenal yesterday.
  17. Interesting line-up - with Sims, Ramsay, Slattery and O'Connor all back from last season's loans and two of the U18s involved. Of the 16 players involved, only 7 are included in the B team profiles on the OS even though these profiles (along with the U18s) were changed on Wednesday. I'm not sure why they bothered - there remain numerous omissons and several players who have left who are still listed. Whoever did this seems to have given up half way through. Transfermarket is showing that Matthew Hall (U18 keeper) is on loan at Harrow Borough - which seems to be confirmed on their club website in that he played for them earlier in the week. Not sure of length of terms of loan e.g. whether he can continue to play for U18s.
  18. Yes, looks pretty conclusive. Good spot.
  19. On the Mystery of the Irish Midfielder, it's clear from the Shamrock Rovers website that Sean Brennan is still there (he played games for Shamrock Rovers II during August). Until we get confirmation one way or the other I'm going to assume it's a loan and have updated the opening post (also to include Alfie Jones' departure). Probably won't get confirmation until the squad lists are published on the PL website, which I assume will be later this month or after the transfer window closes.
  20. One additonal number confirmed in the updated OS first team profiles: 23 Nathan Tella
  21. https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2020/september/report-southampton-1-2-sky-blues/ According to the Coventry website the side was: Southampton Xl: Fraser Forster, Yann Valery (60’ Ledwidge), Jake Vokins (60’ Mitchell), Alfie Jones (46’ Jankewitz), Kayne Ramsay, Callum Slattery, Kgaogelo Chauke, Josh Sims, Nathan Tella (60’ Morris), Jake Hesketh, Dan N’Lundulu. https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2020-09-01/u23s-report-southampton-fc-vs-coventry-city-friendly-20-21 However, our OS doesn't set out the full line up, It says that after half time Allan Thaptchet replaced Alfie Jones and Jack Bycroft came on for Forster. It also says with 20 minutes to go, Saints made six changes to the side, with Lucas Defise, Enzo Robise and Caleb Watts amongst those taking to the field. It doesn't mention Ledwidge, Mitchell, Jenkewitz or Morris. Not sure the reporters were at the same game!
  22. He went on loan there but he was on our retained list in July so it wasn’t permanent at that stage. I suppose he could have gone on a permanent move after the retained list was finalised but I’d be more inclined to say that the Shamrock profiles are as unreliable as ours (well not that bad but unreliable anyway). One other possibiity - he joined on loan for the rest of last season and all or part of the coming season e.g. a year long loan or until 31 December 2020. That would fit him being included in the Shamrock profiles and on our retained list. If we'd been told we'd know.
  23. https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2020-08-31/southampton-fc-academy-sign-four-new-scholars-2020-21 Announcement about four new scholars, although in practice we already knew about three of them - and the OS had already announced one of them. https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2020-08-31/southampton-fc-academy-full-scholarship-list-2020-2021 Another eight scholars announced - plus confirmation of the four mentiond above.
  24. A correction to my final paragraph: Slattery and Scott will also no longer qualify as U21 after the coming season. So, assuming no departures or arrivals in the over 21 group, by the end of the season the number of over 21s will rise from 29 to 36 ( with 6 'keepers!) but with at least 12 of the 36 currently due to be out of contract next summer - possibly as many as 14, depending on what length deals Scott and Lewis have signed.
  25. Additional squad numbers from today's game against Swansea: 30 Callum Slattery 54 Christoph Klarer 64 Alex Jankewitz All unchanged on last season. Given there are nearly 20 numbers vacant between 13 and 50 (probably more by the time loans are arranged), I'd have thought we could have given two players who are on the fringe of the first team more sensible squad numbers - plenty free in the 20s and 30s. Tella and Ferry similarly
