The released and retained list is due around now. I see from his Twitter account that Jamal Branker from the Under 21s is being released and we know that Lee Barnard, Jonathan Forte and Guly are all out of contract and almost certain to leave. Lloyd Isgrove may be out contract and I'm fairly sure that Andy Robinson, Cody Cropper and Fraser Colmer are. I suspect there are decisions to be made about them and possibly others in the development squad, including Matt Young, Joe Curtis, Charlie Higgins and goalkeeper James White. Presumably some new contracts as well. I think the deadline for submitting the list is around the end of May so there may be time to sort out the manager's position before doing so. Good luck to Jamal Branker and anyone else being released.

Wikipedia is showing Will Britt has been given 43 and Chris Johns 44 (our 5th and 6th choice keepers!). Anyone knnow if this is reality or is it just Wiki?

Just noticed that Tadanari Lee has been added into the 1st team squad list on the OS (number 19). He appears to be wearing this season's kit as well.

Many thanks to Ant and apologies for not updating sooner - only just spotted the reply. I have now updated the original post. I should stress that the U21 and U18 information is estimated in some cases - it's clearly deliberate but for this group of players the club generally chooses not to make the end date of contract public. It usually refers to "x year extension" - unless you know when the previous contract expired that is not very helpful. For example, Lloyd Isgrove recently signed a one year extension. I don't think he was out of contract this year (if he were, he would have been mentioned when the retained list was announced). This would indicate it was a 1 year extension to a contract ending in 2014 or later - so I think his contract ends in 2015, but it could be later. I'll continue to keep updated - any further information gratefully received.

Not sure when it happened but the OS squad list has recently been updated to add back in many of the returning loan players. Interesting points to note are that Sharp, Martin and Chaplow are all still missing (deals already done for them perhaps?) and that, of last season's U21s, Corby Moore, Jake Sinclair, Andy Robinson, Dom Gape and Lloyd Isgrove are now showing in the First Team list (though also in the U21 or U18 list as well). It may perhaps be that the first team list is simply showing any U21 who was given a squad number last season (each of these was) or it could indicate a promotion for next season. EDIT: All three now added to OS squad list which now appears to be complete - for now.

Possibly but the OS said: "With regards to the Saints Academy, goalkeeper Will Britt has been offered a professional contract.....". It doesn't say he's signed it. So I don't see what the difference is betweeen him and Omar Rowe. But there must be one - I'm sure the club would be very careful about announcements about contracts (probably even running past lawyers).

Yes but the (slightly!) interesting point is that Hammond has been added in and not Sharp, Forte, Martin and Barnard all of whom are also still in contract. All of the players out of contract are not listed: Forecast, Butterfield, Richardson, Reeves, Hoskins, Chaplow(?), Dickson and Seaborne (though Hoskins is still listed in the U21s). De Ridder is still in contract and still listed.

I suspect the retained list could be imminent (Saturday morning if previous years are anything to go by). The first team squad on the OS has been updated today to delete all the photos. The one player deleted today was Frazer Richardson. Most of the players that have been out on loan are also missing but interestingly Dean Hammond was added back in a few days ago. Tadanari Lee has been there for the whole period of his loan. None of the other players who have been out of loan have been added back.

Is recalling Ben Reeves from Southend an option? No idea on the terms of his loan but a genuine left footer at left back; knows the position albeit no longer his main posiiton; in form from what I understand. Just a thought...

Does anyone on here know how long the contracts are for each of the Under 21s and Under 18s? We know that Jack Stephens and JWP have signed on until 2017 and Cody Cropper signed a 2 year deal last year so that takes him until June 2014. I belive that Ben Reeves and Sam Hoskins are out of contract this summer. Gape and Seager have just signed long-term professional deals but no details on length. Others have previousy signed pro deals (including Young, Curtis, Muagbi, Reed, Johns, Turnbull, Rowe, McQueen and Sinclair) but there's never much information about contract length.

I suspect that we would like to offload most if not all of Sharp, Lee, Mayuka, Hammond, Chaplow, Barnard, Butterfield, Forte, Martin, Seaborne, Forecast, de Ridder, Richardson, Dickson so that we can reduce the wage bill and release funds for the first team. None of the above have really featured to any great extent if at all this season so we wouldn't need 15 replacements. Of course wanting to offload and being able to do so are two different things. Richardson, Butterfield, Chaplow, Seaborne, Forecast, Dickson are all out of contract in June but the others aren't so we will be reliant on someone wanting them and meeting our valuation. Lee, Hammond, Barnard, Forte, Martin, de Ridder all have contracts until 2014; Sharp until 2015 and Mayuka until 2017. On contracts, this site Transfermarkt is pretty good at summarising the contracts for first team players. It is less reliable for U18s and U21s, partly I suspect because the club tends not to publicise the details about length of contract for the younger players, often referring instead to long-term professional deals. If you believe this site virtually all the U21 and second year U18s are out of contract this summer - I don't believe that though I suspect there will need to be decisions about a lot of them.

Hopefully that is the case. But the fact that they bother to list all the U21s makes me wonder whether only listed players are eligible to appear until we next have the chance to update the list. If that were the case (and I don't know) Cropper would not be eligible to play this side of January. In any case it seems very odd to omit only him unless a long-term loan has been lined up but not yet announced.

Omitting Cody Cropper from the list looks to be a bit of co*k up to me. Hope that's not going to come back to haunt us. Assuming an error, wouldn't like to be the person to break the news to NC (or the person who made the mistake)!

No - because he qualifies as under 21 and so is in the under 21 list.

He is - but he's the only one out on loan whose loan expires before 1 January (when we can revise the squad). So I'm not sure but I would think we may have to include him as he is contracted to play for us from mid-November. We will certainly have to include Dickson as he is contracted to us. That means that, given the 3 goalkeeper rule, we cannot bring in anyone else unless we quickly do a deal before 4pm to ship out one of our current over 21 squad. We could seek to extend Forte's loan until 1 January or later I suppose, or look for a club for Dickson. The Echo is saying we will be submitting a list of 8 under 21s. Why would we want to limit ourselves if we don't have to? I don't see why we don't submit all the U21s and U18s.

According to the Premier League an Under 21 player is defined as one who is under the age of 21 on 1st January in the year in which the season commences. For the 2012/13 campaign Under 21 players will have been born on or after 1st January 1991. Mayuka was born on 21.11.1990 and Ramirez on 02.12.1990 so they are not under 21s. I hadn't realised there had to be three keepers in the 25, so we have lost 2 places. And to answer The 9, Yoshida has been confirmed as number 3 - see squad page on OS. No number for Cropper yet though that definitive source Wikipedia has him listed as number 30.
