That's terribly sad news, pleased to hear that he's likely to recover & hope it was an accident rather than bought on by depression.

There are some sports that you'd might expect a tragedy like this, Cricket isn't one of them. Terribly sad news, for everyone concerned, including the bowler.

As long as Jonah Lomu never signs for a Premier League team he'll do well.

Saints 8 (Eight) Sunderland 0 - Match and Reactions
Dimond Geezer replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
First game I've missed in years, thanks to a University open day in Brum, that's No1 son off the christmas card list :-( -
His management of Clyne has been embarrassing, his management of the Sterling situation has been spot on. He was honest about it rather than spouting a load of flannel.

We had similar issues as the OP as we live opposite a school, I contacted the council & was told it's not illegal. I believe it to be a breach of The Highway Code, but that is not a criminal offence. As I understand it you cannot block someone in, ie by parking across a drive with a car on it, but if the drive is empty you can park across it. A closed garage should be assumed to be occupied, therefore, parking is not permitted across a drive leading to a closed garage.

Jose Fonte in new Portugal coach's thoughts - Gets first Call Up!

Correct, put a Saints badge in the redundant holder.

There's also a change when selling a car, the tax is automatically refunded to the current owner, so you can no longer buy a 2nd hand car with x months tax included.

One of the few bands that I regret never seeing live (not that I ever had the chance). I'll be having a meltdown if they tour, I'm already in raptures about the new Queen tour & the likelihood of ELO touring, but The Jam........ wow.

I'd love that to happens. If Garforth Town was good enough for Socrates, I reckon Basingstoke could be in with a chance.

I'd take Valdes as replacement for Boruc.

Here's an odd one, my wife was given a tax rebate, as were many of here colleagues. After banking the cheque, she was told it was an error & HMRC wanted their money back, which she paid & have the evidence on our bank statement to show the cheque was cashed. My wife then gets a letter saying she still owes the original amount, HMRC will not accept that they have received & cashed the cheque. We then mysteriously get a payment from HMRC, credited directly to our bank account for exactly the same sum of money (to the penny). All a bit strange, especially as the original payment was for Income Tax & the second was for Child Tax Benefit, something we haven't been entitled to since the rules changed a few years ago. I phoned* 23 (yes 23) times before getting through to someone, despite recounting the above tale & saying we aren't entitled to CTB, they are adamant the cash is ours. * When calling HMRC the menus are voice activated, some further down the tree are keypad selected, unfortunately there isn't an menu option suitable for what I need to talk about, so I pressed/said just about every combination possible, only to have HMRC automatically hang up, because they are too busy. On call 23 I decided to say/press nothing, eventually I got put in a queue & spoke to a very nice lady. This will be my tactics from no on - keep schtum.

Had just left school & was about to start college. Since then I've done the usual stuff, house, marriage kids etc & my eldest is a year off uni, but I still remember 30 years ago like it was yesterday. It's what I did last week I can't remember. In a similar vein I went to the White Swan last night & one of our party pointed that I'm only 3 & a bit years of qualifying for the over 50's dining club, WTF is going on....

Thanks for that, real hairs-on-the-back-of-the-neck stuff. I'm really looking forward to seeing them in Bournemouth.

Former goalie (because I was too lazy to run) but at 5'9" had a few problems with crosses, although I made up for that by putting my body in places it shouldn't have gone, suffered at the time with teeth knocked out, bone breakages and lots of stitches, and suffering now 10 years after "retiring" (dropped) with an arthritic knee & a knackered back. Career highlights: 1) losing 12-0 , would've been 30 without me & then being asked by a spectating manager if I wanted to play for a Hampshire League team he managed, I turned him down as it would've meant going training. There was no way that was going to happen . 2) on one as my rare outings as a marauding (ie out of position) central midfielder for our 2nd team in the Commercial House league I scored from a volley & a diving header.

It's been reported that he suffered from epilepsy as a result of that accident, so he could have had a fit.

Wow, very sad news. Rip

I've got a huge respect for these guys & all the soldiers etc of that generation. I say 'soldiers', but few of them were, they were normal blokes, who through circumstances beyond their control had to become soldiers, sailors & airmen. I believe my step-grandfather was part of the invasion force on D-Day, and I found out today that my maternal grandfather in the Royal Engineers and was involved in constructing the Mulberry harbours & several bridges, before going onto Belgium, a country that I'm lead to believe, he single handedly liberated. That's the story he told after a few whiskies at The Legion . Tonight I'll be raising a glass in their honour.

August 14th.

Probably the best fly-half I've ever seen, so much more to him than a good boot, he's an incredible tackler & his distribution & tactical awareness was second to none. Not to mention a model pro & a decent bloke my all accounts. Will be mostly remembered for the drop goal that won us the RWC in 2003, off the wrong foot as well, could teach a few footballers a lesson or two.

Had my swimmers disabled a few years back. I makes things a lot easier, no more faffing with a jonny at a time when you don't really want to be, and it's nice to be riding bareback once again. Mrs Geezer prefers it too. I had no problems afterwards, all healed nicely & you get some bonus hand-jobs for few weeks post op because you need to clean your pipes.

Guly pretty much confirms he is leaving Saints this summer
Dimond Geezer replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Good luck to him for the future. I always liked Guly & could never understand the abuse he'd get. He was important for us in L1 & the championship & did his bit in the Prem when called upon. He isn't a premiership player, but I don't think he's ever let us down. -
I remember getting coined there, although that may have been in '86.
