  1. How did they ever get into this mess in the first place? Yeah I'm a Saints supporter but I still wouldn't want to see them go out of business. It's madness.
  2. Call me stupid but why do we all want to go to Wigan so much? I know we've never played them before but is that it?
  3. Just went on the OS to try and see if I could buy a pompey ticket and they're all sold out. Oh wait a minute, I've already got one
  4. You don't know how long i've been trying to find that goal. Many many many thanks
  5. Has anyone got any footage of Francis Benali's one and only goal?
  6. I also watched the Len Goodman programme, expecting it to be yet another Titanic 'celebration', along with that dreadful film that is now in 3D. Pleasantly surprised. It focused on the impact of the disaster, especially on Southampton. The diagram that showed where all the victims lived was particularly poignant. Everyone must have known friends who died. The amount of money raised by the city for the victims families was also amazing given the times. The city of Belfast can celebrate Titanic for having built it. We can't. It just left a huge hole in the city. Having said that, the City council have not done much to celebrate Southampton's maritime and aviation heritage. Neither of the current museums are up to much. Much more could and should be done - just please don't focus on that wretched ship.
  7. Put is this way mate, when we played Man Utd I was in the Chapel but **** really did hit the fan
  8. Done the sums. Given our much better goal difference than Reading and WHam, we need 13 points to be certain of promotion from the last 7 games. 4 wins, 1 draw, 2 defeats. This assumes that both teams win all their games apart from when they play each other - which won't happen. Nearly there.
  9. Correct me if I'm wrong (by food I mean actual hot food not a mars bar).
  10. We have had this before. Official allocation was 44,000, but there were Saints fans in the Club Wembley seats and in the Carlisle end. Wembley themselves said 50,000+. What the actual figure was was argued about at the time. Good memories of a fun day out, and the start of the road back. As has been said already, would never have expected the following two years to be as good as it has been.
  11. The problem yesterday was that SDR was just hugging the touchline waiting for long crossfield balls. Leaves us light in midfield and rarely seemed to amount to much. He seems to be out of the game. Actually thought that he was better up front after Chaplow came on for Lambert. He ended up on left wing at one point. But we have better strikers than SDR when they are fit
  12. On BBC HD as well
  13. Wait so even though everything I have said is true you disagree with it? Mate, seriously?
  14. I'm trying not to be biased here but let's consider it for a moment. 1) We are in no debt. We have a brilliant manager who isn't requesting a stupid number of players. A chairmen who knows what he's doing and gets on with people while at the same time charging decent rates for games. An owner who isn't looking like they are going to run out of money any time soon. 2) Structure. Southampton is built around and sound structure. That is not "let's buy now and hope we do well" but "let's build steadily and continuously at a rate which we, one day, will be able to sustain ourselves". 3) Our facilities are becoming state-of-the-art. Staplewood is getting a complete overhall and St Marys is already a UEFA 4-star stadium. 4) Position in the league. 1st and with a long-term plan. It's not simply, let's get promoted but let's get promoted and invest in the future (bringing in the likes of Lee, Sharp etc.) 5) Academy. We have one of the best academies in England. There seems to be a growing number of players coming through at premier league level and this number will probably continue to increase if we go up. 6) Fan base. Southampton is one of the biggest clubs in the south of England (excl. London). We regularly get 27k to Sat games and 22k to Tues games and this number will also continue to grow if we go up. Our away fans are also high in number since I believe we have the 2nd highest away attendance in the league. All in all, in my opinion, Southampton is kind of the perfect club.
  15. Related question - what is the back row of the Chapel? How many behind NN? 'So Long and thanks for all the Fish' is the current favourite

A mate of mine says he supports Man Utd and Saints at the same time. I thought I should teach him a lesson with a bit of nighttime pranking. Any ideas (preferably legal and don't involve indecent exposure)
