Southampton v Newcastle 03/04 on ESPN Classic, 2.45pm
kwsaint replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
The 1-1 draw in 02/03 was a fantastic game. Two teams having a real go at each other. No idea how it ended up with only two goals. Seem to remember CMG missing a header to win it late on. Games against Newcastle around that time always seem to have been good games. One of those rare occasions when not winning didn't seem to matter so much. -

Channon goal vs Liverpool in 82. No contest. I was in the Archers end that day as the Milton was sold out. Lost the game 3-2 against a very good Liverpool side. I seem to remember that it was a cracking game and Liverpool caught us on the break near the end when we were pressing for a winner. -
now it's not like i like to be smug or anything but i am being

i only started this thread as a tad of breathing space for those who don't like to hear that our club is the ****test it's ever been. yes we're a the bottom of the league but it's unbelieveable how quickly people expected us to fit in the PL. I agree with alpine on this. Say we do go down, if we have the structure and players to ensure that we're improving then where is the problem? We're go down and then bounce up again with the parachute payments and so forth. Just because we've had 3 seasons of bollocking the opposition, people seem to think that there is no reason why this season won't be as easy. Rant over.

Yes so we're bottom of the premier league with 0 points after 4 games. We're in the premier league. We're watching one of the best leagues in the world (if not the best) and have a reasonable chance of staying up (after 38 games). What happened to "in Adkins we trust?"

I was at the Wrexham game as well. I think that it was a fifth round game in 1974 and we ended up getting relegated at the end of the season.

What was the most gutted that you have ever felt coming out of a Saints game? Disappointing as last Saturday was, for me it wasn't a patch on leaving Highbury in 84 after the FA Cup semi. That was just horrible. Your thoughts (this promises to be a really cheerful thread)

One of those stupid half-time conversations yesterday - Name the highest league ground in the country (it's West Brom by the way). What's the lowest? Checked after the game. Turns out that SMS is a massive three feet above sea level - not entirely surprising given the location - which makes it the lowest League Ground in the country. It was Grimsby until they were relegated from the league (two feet above sea level). So a relocation might be forced on us later in the century when global warming takes hold. Although it makes the condition of the pitch amazing given how close the water table must be below it. I must get out more.

I mean what is the point. They get young 20s woman or less to bounce on you while you have your wallet out after getting your ticket out and then try and sell you some pointless thing. Really don't see the point -
legend to whoever it was. dirty ****s

Fonte's confidence looks shot as well. Reminds me of Pickering in 78/79. Good in Div 2 but completely lost it once we got to Div 1 and hardly played a game. Fox's positional play was not good. Clyne and Puncheon had the right hand side completely sewn up, everything was coming down the left. Hoosveld looked OK. Anyone know how close Jack Stephens is to getting a regular start?

Lifting some newspapers for my paper round, I did my back in. Has anyone got any advice apart from pain killers?

Not literally, but since we would have to give 10% (probably around 4000) we would end up with the whole of the Northam stand becoming away support. Where do you think the singing support would go?

got a feeling they will come out in grey shirts

R.I.P. I genuinely feel sad that he's died. Really puts the era of space travel to the moon in reality for me. We just don't have the ambition like they did in the 60s.

Any chance of being linked with a CB?

On facebook today, I make a simple status and everyone has to have a go at you for it. I sympathise with the man.

atdhenet.tv is a good one. don't have to install anything and is easy to navigate

Met a real decent one today who said he wished they were liquidated and thought we had done a brilliant job. I couldn't hate him for long

14-16 assuming that we get another CB. If we don't then relegation. Rest of the squad is good enough to keep us up.
