I've started going to see Cambridge United play which was a right laugh. Was just wondering what other clubs people watch due to it not being possible to travel to see Saints or on the days when Saints are away.
-
Put it this way, I want Bournemouth to stay up, do well in the PL and would happily watch them with a probable bias towards wanting them to win (unless it was against us). I want Portsmouth to be carpet bombed with Trident.

Wins at Old Trafford like London buses. None for ages then two come along at once. We all remember the 4-1 win at Old Trafford in 1969 when Big Ron scored all four, but I had forgotten that we won there the previous year when Man U were European champions. On checking it turns out that we did the double over them in 1968-69. Our record against Man U is actually not that great but we beat them three times in a row in the late sixties.

Maybe not the most expensive, but Delgado must have been the biggest mistake. The hype was ridiculous and he really couldn't be bothered. At least Ramirez seemed to try. Happy memories of WGS when asked about Delgado, replying that he had a yoghurt about to expire and that was a bigger worry. About 40 seconds in.

Went last year and it was great. Can't go this year, sadly. We parked in Altrincham, and then got the tram from Altrincham to Stretford. 10 min walk to ground and easy to get back. Found a friendly pub in Altrincham high street that served all day breakfasts. Result

Hope this rumour is true. Sell him

Never ever expected to see Eastleigh first on MOTD

The thing that really bothers me is that the team spirit that we have had for the past 5 years is rapidly disappearing. The teams that have over-performed this year (Bournemouth, Watford, Palace) have it in spades. We don't. It's not just lack of confidence. The teams of the 90s weren't very good but generally battled for everything. Beginning to think that RK is part of the problem. I think that he may well go in the summer, along with Mane and Wanyama at least. Need to get the next appointment right, and get player recruitment right. Going to be a tough next 12 months.

I am old enough to remember 1973-74. 5th in December. Only won three games in the second half of the season and went down. It's possible that it could happen again. I think that we will scrape together enough points to keep clear of the bottom 4/5 but don't think that we will get back to where we were at the start of the season

I seem to remember that Liverpool dropped a few points at the end of the season after they had won the league. We came with a good run at the end of the season to get second. But agree that we should have won the cup that year. I was at Highbury to see a half-fit Steve Williams play. Can't ever remember feeling more gutted after a Saints defeat

James Ward-Prowse's list of indisputable, unimprovable weaknesses

Can we just park this thread and reopen it in 5 years time? JWP is 21. If he is playing to the same standard at 26 then some posters might have a point. But he might have improved in this time. -
How much did we pay for Mane? something like £7 million? Even if it is half the rumoured amount then it is good business for a player who doesn't want to play for us
-
Agree with this. Although if he leaves, I wouldn't hold back in abusing the ****.
-
We will survive this season. It's next season that worries me. There is clearly a malaise about the team that needs sorting out. The teams that are over-performing (Bournemouth, Watford, Palace, Leicester) all have a fantastic team spirit. Ours has disappeared
-
RK clearly has a problem with a couple of big time charlies in he squad, namely Wanyama and Mane, which is affecting the whole team. Personally I would sell both and attempt to get replacements who actually want to play. If not, then drop both of them for a month minimum and play youngsters who actually want to impress.
-
Completely useless ****. Stupid, pointless sending off. Shouldn't play for Saints again. He's head's completely gone. He clearly wants a transfer and think he's better than he is. His crap performances are affecting the whole side. I'm not scape-goating him as the whole team isn't playing well but Big Vic particularly should leave.
-
Where did that result come from? Best atmosphere at SMS in ages. Fair play to RK for making the changes that needed to be made. Fortina didn't offer much going forward (apart from a stunning goal!), but he kept his discipline at the back.

Started looking at the bottom of the table for the first time in three seasons. Not since the early months of the first season back. Glad Swansea only managed a point. Anyone else started doing the same (apart from Dalek who thinks that we will be relegated)
-
Look at the pictures taken by the cameras they cannot lie. The truth is in what you see, not what you read.
-
Usual Dalek over-reaction. There are some truly awful sides in the Premier League this season so we wont go down. But we have definitely gone backwards since last season and we look like a team without much confidence up front. I was at the game today, and it was one that we could well have got a point from - if anyone could be bothered to have a shot. Palace sat back in the second half, but we only really tested Hennessey once, and that was right at the end when Long should have scored. Too many touches, especially from Mane. If Arsenal make a silly offer for Wanyama, then we should take it [ he looked well off the pace. And Pelle and Long together simply doesn't work - they get in each others way. On the plus side, Gazzaniga actually looked a decent keeper today. He made a number of good stops, and his distribution was generally OK. Which does make you wonder why Kelvin played against Leicester. Thought Davis had a good game, and was surprised when he was subbed. And putting the TV gantry under the stand roof to block everyone's view is daft
-
Anyone planning on watching it? Apparently it's the first year they're showing both games on the TV.
-
Can't imagine that I would ever approve of a transfer to Spurs, but getting rid of Steve Bennett is excellent news. Maybe we could get someone who could actually do the job without irritating everyone
-
please tell me that they are getting rid of that muppet who introduces the half time relay. He really is an embarrassment

Would have thought that Cortese was ideal for Leeds. The current owner is banned from being a director of a football club for avowing tax on an imported yacht, the new manager is the odious Steve Evans, who was successfully prosecuted for tax evasion when at Boston. Add to that the history surrounding Don Revie and the culture of gamesmanship that he left. What could possibly go wrong
