DOWN QPR Villa ......and one other above us at the moment (maybe Norwich). UP Cardiff Leicester Crystal Palace or Watford
-
From all I've read about Pochettino and the pressing game, it was suggested we would take time to absorb this way of playing and would likely have some really dodgy results early on before finally picking up some important wins as the team learned how to play his way. It seems to me the team have clicked into it pretty quickly, even with some hard games, and hopefully the best is yet to come.......I'm actually surprised how the team have responded as I thought the heart might have been taken out of them when Nigel Adkins was sacked the way he was. All credit to the lads, and also the manager and coaching team.

We were 2-0 down at Chelsea and I thought we were out of it then...... who knows? I'm expecting us to lose but you never know. Football's a funny old game. If we're still 2-1 down with half an hour to go, bring on Shaw and Lallana and we might just nick an equaliser......... after saying that this probably has 4-1 written all over it :0)
-
Man, I'm pleased we scored but I wish it was in the 89th minute!! :0)
-
It was quite possibly his own decision because of the way Nigel was treated?
-
Gutted! Since Christmas I had a growing feeling we are on the up and after the Chelsea result felt we would certainly avoid relegation. Now I think we've lost it and will probably go down. Nigel Adkins seems a top man and top manager. So disillusioned with Saints right now......

Like the way losing or drawing to us is seen as " a disaster"

Chelsea 2 Saints 2 - Post Match Celebrations & MotM

Absolutely brilliant! Chuffed and buzzing! -
Agreed terms with us already apparently...... see link here http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2013/01/southampton-close-in-on-cagliari-defender/?

I guess because he didn't go as far as calling us useless, just a smaller club......
-
Yep, I think that was what happened. It was a straight choice between us and Everton.......I remember following the progress on the radio! So disappointed when he went there, he would have been an amazing signing.
-
Thanks for posting. Very interesting.
-
I know we're good but not THAT good.......you'd only put out 10 men? ;0)
-
Class act, and so mature in his play.....he's only what? 21?
-
Agree, although I thought he was good in air today as well.

Brilliant! Great second half. Defence looked fairly secure too after we scored and Yoshida looked good all through the match, nice and assured. Good debut for Gazzaniga, Ramirez grew into it as the game went on and looks such a mature player for his age, making us tick in midfield and attack. What a player he is going to be for us! Mayuka will improve too. Puncheon was on fire second half and Lambert was immense. Time to celebrate!

I definitely preferred the old one!

Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan
Wildgoose replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
I think Billy is a good player and loved his contribution last season. I was concerned how he might fit into the team because of his style even before the season started and could really only see him coming off the bench to make an impact, especially when it was clear we would play 4-3-3 and 4-5-1. He's a poacher but his touch is probably not good enough? Would have loved him to stay and be part of the squad but my first thought was that he's gone to help balance the books as he was the obvious choice in some ways. Very tough on him though, all the same, since he had only just come to Saints, scored regularly and thought he was here to stay. Probably feels a bit used..... -
I can see him being brought in for his experience and perhaps to specifically mentor Ramirez and help him develop. The man's a legend and would still be a great signing I think.
-
He also got us into the winning position in the first place! He's on a steep learning curve like the whole team. I thought the subs were strange but realised Lambert and Lallana may have run themselves into the ground. Puncheon being subbed was hard to fathom for sure. I could understand what NA was trying to do and if it had come off we would have said he pulled off a masterstroke! Brave brave decisions which didn't work......
-
Haha! Good question.... hopefully get another! ;0)
-
Oh yes!!!
-
I was wondering the same thing.......
-
Pretty much this! IF we get the signings we are needing (and I'm certain that NA & NC are no mugs) then I think we'll grow into this league as Swansea and Norwich did last year, and will have a good season. Without new signings I agree that we'll be found wanting.

Sounds about right to me!
