  1. I remember watching this one on my honeymoon in Ireland! Seem to recall an Ormerod & Beattie combination late on for 1-0.
  2. Absolutely, if the figure of £10m is accurate then, with the possible exception of Lambert, it is very low in comparison to the value gained for all the other outgoings in the Summer. All players have a price!!
  3. I notice Forren was making the news this week! http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/sep/02/wayne-rooney-vegard-forren-chubby-england
  4. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Wanyama. Does he not captain his country?
  5. Very true, Ronald needs to be in the Goldilocks Zone!
  6. Transfer spend is one thing but I suspect the wages budget was several times higher than most of the competition.
  7. The thing is it's not an investment, more of a vanity project isn't it to own a top Prem side? When all is taken together I expect if she were to sell up now, Ms Liebherr could take away a small profit compared to the purchase price paid by her father and all the money put in since then. However, for someone coming in now, the chances of them walking away with a profit after pumping in the hundreds of millions required to have a good shot at the very top would be slim to negligible.
  8. Nice stat, just for completeness how do the goals scored compare?
  9. I'm sorry, but Cork is about as useful in an attacking sense as Lundekvam
  10. That's interesting because I don't think of him as having the trickery of Lallana but he certainly does have the same really quick feet when in a congested area.
  11. Bring back "Beatts & Prutts"!!!
  12. Probably, I knew I should have checked!!
  13. Wasn't that a certain Mr Redknapp's strategy all those years ago against Torquay? I seem to remember it didn't work out so well!!
  14. Quite. It's funny how 2 trips to wembley at c£100 a pop would suddenly become "financially viable" when st Mary's at £15. It's a matter of priorities in the same way as it is for the club. Lots of hypocrisy being displayed as usual. I personally didn't go to any of the cup games because I just didn't fancy it yet would probably have gone to the semi and final had they made it. If that makes me a bad fan so be it but no one could argue, based on the numbers, that the same doesn't go for 90% of the fanbase. The team at Sunderland probably should have got a result but didn't on the day. That's the nature of sport
  15. More like one every 45 seconds isn't it?
  16. Do we know if Gallagher is available? I'd have thought he would need more than a few days off losing his father at such a young age.
  17. I agree and would also point out that long kicks form a pretty small minority of his distribution. Short passes and throws form the majority and, from where I'm sitting, he does both of those pretty well, especially the throws.
  18. Agreed, it is good to have 2 decent RBs. For WBA Chambers wasn't in the squad at all and I think there was mention of illness which would figure given his complete absence.
  19. The funny thing is that, unless Clyne is still carrying an injury, MP seems to be preferring Chambers to Clyne when they are both available in the last few games.
  20. Am I mis-remembering or was Bick the guy that told the watch story at the memorial service?
  21. But wasn't that the game when he did the damage colliding with their keeper and had to go off at ht?
  22. Has anyone else noticed the striking resemblance between Anders Svensson and sometime lead singer of Survivor Dave Bickler? Whenever I see the video for Eye of the Tiger I start thinking it actually is Anders Svensson (even though he would have been about 6 at the time!) I would post a picture but that's a bit beyond me.
  23. You really are an extremely well informed Bear!!!
  24. Fair enough. Season certainly went downhill from there!
