  1. So on the basis our central defence was trashed yesterday by a reasonably competent Norwich team who broke well, who are the defenders we should be targeting? ABK looks like he’s on his way to Germany, and we may be getting defensive midfielder, which centre back would you bring in?
  2. Pinched from the BBC coverage: Surrey must score 345 runs off 37 overs, at 9.3 per over, to claim an unlikely victory.
  3. Unlike US sports, the EPL doesn't exist in a vacuum. US American Football and Baseball is a closed system with no international competition. The EPL teams need to compete within Champions League etc so unless restrictions are applied across UEFA then we would lose out and become a back water, losing players to higher paying leagues, losing advertising and sponsors - bit like Brexit... (runs and hides)
  4. To be fair….
  5. Spurs and Arsenal will be looking over their shoulders - this morning the European Super League will be scratching out their names and calling Riyadh instead. Same for Mino Railoa and all the other 'super agents' - how long til the new Newcastle chairman declares that Haaland is the number 1 target. As some have said above, I'd love to hear the discussion at Everton....
  6. I guess the rain may take out day 3, so could be a tense Wednesday at the Ageas
  7. Great pod, good discussions, no waffle, good insight on the new signing, a must listen on a Monday morning
  8. get him in, just what we need....
  9. £300k per week for 6 years = £93m...... jeez
  10. Superb performances in the last week, shame it gets so little press coverage. Notts in the quarters will be tough....
  11. Not directly Saints related, new Burnley chairman speaking to the local press “Long term we want to be Britain’s favourite underdog.” https://www.burnleyexpress.net/sport/football/alan-paces-vision-burnley-football-club-new-chairman-speaks-variety-topics-3087298
  12. It's not exclusively the BBC, listening to the Sunday Supplement podcast from Sky it's just teeing up their coverage of usual 'big' teams, worrying over whether Olli will survive at Man U, Pep and Jurgen's fixture congestion - they did manage to fit in an interview with Brendan. It's a fact of life that we don't get the coverage as we don't sell the number of subscriptions, the newspapers or create the noise on social media that Man U, Liverpool, City etc... do. Saints being top is widely ignored, apart from the easy references of Ralph's journey back from 0-9. Fuck em, we can enjoy the 2 days on top, keep building towards finishing in the top 8, showing Everton & Villa that a well coached team beats aimless spending, it's our club getting back to the ethos that makes us proud. If you want a laugh, look at the Newcastle fans suffering Ashley and Bruce, their Tweets during the game were almost as enjoyable as our performance.
  13. Everton losing their heads
  14. Chelsea net spend this summer was £160m, ours £14m. As ever Saints have to be the better team to combat their superstar signings, massive kudos to Ralph and the team for pulling it together at 2-0 and being the better side in the second half. Under previous managers we would have folded, the belief we now show is exactly why we’re proud of this team.
  15. Question.... I'm guessing many of you signed up for the Athletic around this time last year - so are you renewing for this year? I've decided to not re-new, I wasn't reading enough of their content to justify.
  16. Come on chaps, we haven’t quite got the hang of marketing have we? Repeat after me, PEH is a potential world class, box to box, tough tackling monster with a eye for a defence splitting pass. We currently make him sound like a pound shop David Batty...
  17. I guess we all agree that we need leaders on the pitch - I know Mings may not be flavour of the month but would he fit the leader role?
  18. Can we pair him and Bale? What's Chrissy Marsden doing these days? Never go back.....
  19. There was an interesting discussion on this weeks James Richardson Totally Football podcast about super agents, and how clubs like Man U are aligned with specific agents, paying big agent fees, driving the big deals. They talked about how Arsenal have been particularly poor in building these relationships and have missed out on major targets. It's an interesting, as well as a depressing listen. While we aren't shopping for the Pogba's of this world, with our lack of success on inbound transfers, it makes you wonder whether we are worse than our rivals at building these relationships with agents who manage the players we target...
  20. We left at halftime, never have before, if the players and manager can't be bothered, we didn't see the point in staying.
  21. Do you predict lottery numbers as well?
