I think distancing yourself from these things is actually quite normal and just a normal human way of protecting yourself. We all have good and bad times in life, and all know that sooner or later something will have a more direct effect on us (like a family death etc) and so we try to protect ourselves till then, so we can cope better. Think you are also right about us becoming a bit immune to these things due to media. I also think that half the sick jokes that come out about these things are a way of coping too, in a bizaare sense. Some things are so shocking to us we turn them into jokes! Not that that makes them acceptable.

The Official 'I've had a St Marys dump' thread
Truesaint replied to SparkySaint's topic in The Muppet Show
Had two dumps at St Marys, both within about twenty minutes of each other (dodgy pint earlier!). Also managed a p*** in players toilets at the dell during a tour. Felt really proud, thinking of all the players who had p***ed there before. Great thread this. -

Snow phallus seem to be very popular at the moment. have seen quite a few around including a two foot tall one frozen to the roof of neighbours car yesterday morning. He even drove off with it still attached as was quite impressed!

Agree, was gutted when we lost 3-4 to Leeds. Most enjoyed the beating of Tottenham in the FA cup. Live on telly, had money on Svenson to score first, and seeing hoddle slide down in his seat as the whole ground had a go at him, priceless!

Always want England to win, but to be honest can never really get behind them. Its the Saints for me all the time and only really watch England if we have one of our players in the squad (rare admitedly! and i wonder when it will next happen?). Same with the world cup, always watch the games with saints or ex saints in. Makes me pretty sad i know!

7pm kick off IMO is better when travelling over from the island. Bit of a rush to get there (will have to go straight from work), but travelling back at least means not having to wait over an hour for the last ferry! I hate that, even more depressing standing there for an hour, in the cold after a defeat, as is quite usual!

Completly agree. Regardless of how moral we all think we are, we all at times break laws, ethics or whatever. The list is endless, anyone ever travelled over 70 on a motorway, had an affair? etc. You can go on forever. We just sometimes see these things as acceptable or a calculated risk. At the end of the day his misdemeanor caused no harm. No money was made. The fact is it proves that my hero is human, great that makes him just like me, and that is why he is such a great hero! Head says - lose 0 - 1 conceding from a corner in the last 5 mins! :smt085 Heart says - Win 3 - 0 playing an awesome game, stating that we have finally arrived! [-o

Dont care what others opinions are. Matt is my hero and always will be! Im 36 and i still try to play like him in games and usually just make a **** of myself. But i dont care. I dont believe he wasted his talent, or did not aspire to more. look at George Best, no one doubts his talent and yet it could be argued that by his lifestyle he wasted his talent. Matt provided me and many others with endless joy and pride in saints. That is not wasting talent or being unambitious, FACT! Had the pleasure of meeting him a few times and the bloke has always been the most unassuming and polite man. Once caddied for him in a charity golf match and also got the chance to attend the evening function later that day. When i arrived in the evening, i must have looked well lost amongest all the company execs and other guests. Matt spotted me, came over and said 'come sit on our table, as i guess you dont know anyone'. I nearly died, what a great bloke. Everyone has a hero, Matt is mine.

May have something to do with agent, creating a few rumours. Trying to get a better deal with us? Just trying to look on the bright side!

They missed one off of our list. Should have included in the out list. Rupert Lowe

Club every time. Dont really care much about the national team unless a saints player is playing (rarely!). In the world cup ill watch most teams with saints or ex-saints in them. Yes i am that sad!
