  1. A few Pompey fans must have put their Brain cells in this morning then..
  2. I think that the other clubs will have been lobbying the FL in the background..
  3. Yet another sensible quote. It's about protecting our heritage and not endorsing the current team and manager. I've supported Saints for over 50 years. It means more than just the current setup to me and to many others.
  4. Fully agree. When I thought we could not sink any lower we did. I think about the players we have out on loan, Rasiak, Stern John, Dyer and realise we could have been more than safe with them in the squad. But money was so tight we just had to release them. I remember talking to someone on the old board when we were in the SISU situation and he told me then that things were bad and that SISU was our only salvation. Lowe and Wilde put a dampers on that well and truly. Now it';s time to sort out a buyer get a good manager in who can take us out of League 1. Paul Ince would be my choice.
  5. Nothing to stop the newly formed club buying the stadium back in the future when finances stabilise. Doesn't stop AC Milan and Inter succeeding at the highrst level.. The San Siro is not owned by the clubs..
  6. I'm not giving up hope until the final whistle on the final day. We managed to win 3 in a row not so long ago so it's still possible. I did the BBC predictor and also had us staying up. If we do then I think it's Barnsley and Norwich to go. Whatever the outcome I'll be there.
  7. The most important thing to me about our current predicament is that Lowe and Wilde have no influence whatsoever over the potential buyer. In the past, as major shareholders they were able to control this but now of course they have no control. They effectively stopped the SISU bid from going through. I am hoping that any potential buyer is taking a strategic view of the club and that, although relegation would be awful, it is not going to detract from their strategic intent.
  8. How about this. I made a few assumptions based on the fact that Saints have a total fan base of 40,000. Let's face it, when in the premiership (oh joy!!) we filled the stadium week in week out. Took the percentages in the above poll and applied that to the total fan base and look what it comes to.. £77 Million. Maybe a flawed model but we can rework it.. The assumption that over 8% would give over £5K may be optimistic but that's what the poll says and of course the likes of Crouch could come in with a couple of million. Equally, could reduce the fan base but even at half the number we are talking a lot of money and of course the poll is probably over optimistic but worth a try.. Fans Donation Total 20000 £500.00 £10,000,000 0 £750.00 £0 9188 £1,000.00 £9,188,000 1080 £1,500.00 £1,620,000 1352 £2,000.00 £2,704,000 2164 £2,500.00 £5,410,000 2704 £5,000.00 £13,520,000 Rich Buggers (Maybe a bit optimistic but Crouch may help here) 3512 £10,000.00 £35,120,000.00 40000 Total £77,562,000.00
  9. We have 21 points to play for which would take us to 61 points. Now, if we drop 9 points then I think we stay up. Perfectly possible. We are getting hard to beat at the moment.
  10. I bet you'll say at the end of the season "I told you so". What ever the outcome it's as much your attitude that will fulfil the prophecy as any incompetence from the players or staff.
  11. At the beginning of the week I would have taken 3 points from 2 tough away games.
  12. We play 3 teams in the top half and outplay them. No flukes.. This says to me that given the right management we could have been pushing for promotion.. It's just so frustrating. We may still not survive but with this current run I think the players will have the belief to keep this run going. JP was clearly not up to it so why oh why did they not put Wotte in charge in the first place. Another one of Lowe's experiments.
  13. Let's not forget that we have had 7 England Captains ( I reckon) playing for Saints.. Must include them surely. That does include MTL captaining the B Side for about 10 minutes though.. My Team.. Shilton Mick Mills Mark Wright Dave Watson Wayne Bridge Alan Ball Matt Le Tissier Kevin Keegan David Armstrong Channon Alan Shearer Subs.. Ron Davies, Charlie George, Michael Svensson, Klaus Lundekvam, Jimmy Case What a Team
  14. If you look at the table we are effectively 2/3rds of the way through.. The last playoff place (Preston) have 49 points so if we were to survive we would have to hit that sort of form which would give us say 24/25 points.. Takes us to 52 points.
  15. Well, there you go.. I also disagree with you on that. He worked and covered a lot of ground and also noticed him talking to his teammates right through. Just what we needed.
  16. Teams around us did win but if you look up the table it's so easy for any team to go in to free fall. If Charlton can go 18 games without a win then so can the likes of Barnsley and Blackpool. We are still in touch and it could have been a lot worse. Staying positive.
  17. I read that Roy Keane wants to return to management.. He likes a good challenge.. Maybe he could bring Kenwyn Jones back.. That's exactly who we need up front.. I don't think that RL will allow this to run on.. He has shown in the past that his loyalties are very temporary..
  18. Given the current Financial Markets turmoil would you be comfortable being owned by a Hedge Fund.. I am not sure I would be..
  19. Let's see where we are after 10 games when the luck and hard done by scorelines even themselves out then we should worry. I for one believe that with some continuity, our fortunes will turn. Lowe said all along there was no quick fix. We seem to be expecting one.
  20. Not watching the game cause they don't have SKY in Bulgaria.. BUT let's give the lads credit whatever the outcome today against one of the favorites for automatic promotion.
  21. I agree with you WASHSAINT. Let's try and create a positive mood on this forum. May rub ff on the pitch.. Who knows.
  22. Some may say we were outplayed but I believe we were outsmarted. We did look exposed at the back and that seemed to me becuaes the fullbacks kept going walkabouts and the holding midfielders were not covering.. Having said that we showed some good touches and I did not feel as down as I would have been last season after a 1-0 home defeat.. We had 19 shots on Goal (10 on Target) but I felt we were tring to do an Arsenal and walk it in at times.
  23. Saw the goals. Cardiff's first was a classic CCC goal. Big hoof in to the box and pick up the loose ball. I hope Saints can keep the faith and play good quality football. Our goal at least showed a bit of skill.
