  1. Great ball from Redmond and cool finish
  2. If we are doing a swap with Spurs for KWP it will have to be PEH and someone else on his performance tonight.
  3. Well this is painful, looks like we don't want to score, can Obafemi control anything he makes Long look like a football genius.
  4. How about Fila and something based on the Bournemouth red and black stripes?
  5. Great result for them. Sholing born and bred myself, Mum still lives in the same house. Used to watch Sholing Sports as I think they were in the first half of the 70's in North East Road. If we did not have enough pocket money left would get in at half time for free. Will be good to see them with their trophy at St Mary's this afternoon.
  6. Why do so many want Richardson back in place of Butterfield especially after Butterfields performance on Friday? Nearly every clearance was aimed at the player he was marking and he delt with it very well. I think he brings a level of calmness to the right hand side and his link up with Lambert when he came short was also excellent. Against the Skates their left sided player was constantly getting in behind Richardson. Richardson has had more assists but that should be expected due to the number of games played I can see no sane reason to change that position following the last two games.
  7. For those bashing Butterfield yes I would agree that his crossing was not great but he was very good in defence and made a great tackle on Diouf retained the ball and lead to the second goal. I would have no problem playing him at right back for the rest of the season if required but then again I would start Guly on the right ahead of SDR as I believe he offers more including pace, but then it is all about individual opinions.
  8. Four shots and only one on target! That and Kelvin in top form was all we needed, about time the luck when our way in a game like this. How long has it been when we could have played all day and not scored. Fantastic result if poor performances by some. Bring on Tuesday night.
  9. We'll only finish 17th!
  10. What realy annoys me is the obvious cheating of one player on a fellow player irrespective of them being on opposite teams. I hate it when one of ours does it and its just as bad when its the opposition. This is no defence of the ref but he was not the one rolling around and holding his face. I'd like to see the scares as evidence for how hard Ricky hit him! Its beginning to put me off watching each week.
  11. I've seen him in all home games this season when played and the second half at Reading, can you please give some evidence to support your statement as I don't agree with what you are saying. I think he is a good player who to me looks assured on the ball and does the simple things first without trying to play others into danger. Having watched the high lights of the Bristol City game the speed he got up from the ground for their goal almost allowed him to get a goal saving block in, I'm not sure Fonte would have been so quick.
  12. Not a Derby in my mind, that has to be the same city and at a push the same county they are just rivals in the same league who happen to be on the south coast as well as Saints.
  13. I don't think we are over reliant on Ricky and Adam this season, look at the Reading result the article opens with Lallana not even on the bench. Yes we appear to be more creative with him in the team but I think the creativity is being shared through out the team. Guly has created at least four goals in recent games and Lambert is also becoming as much of a provider as a scorer, his main contribution in the game at Reading was defending corners. I believe the main strenght is the unity and team spirit that Nigel has bought into the building, long may it continue.
  14. I was in a rush and obviously didn't pay enough attention, never mind guess we will all have to wait until the memorial match.

  16. See picture at the attached http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/default.stm
  17. I'm a fan of Butterfield but what Murty would bring to the team that we lack is organisation. He talks to everone around he through out the game and I think that is one of the biggest weaknesses with our team at the moment.
  18. The mention of Perkins made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. He use to take joy in twisting our ears, sticking his finger into the nerves at the base of you neck or dashing you on the head with 3 or 4 SMP maths books. How about Kevin Roberts brother Trevor didn't he play for the skates?
  19. I agree with Arizona's comments and 70's Mike's view on the changes since Chris Nichol was ousted. I was not a Burley fan as he has a general negative attitude which Pardew must avoid falling into. I think he is one of the newer positive attitude managers and will manager the players as well as coach them. Yes we fans can tend to get on the players backs at times but I think we get it from them as they start to drop deeper and I agree with others that we need to leave players up field when defending corners, what ever the state of the game. I think we also miss a leader on the pitch and was please when Murty joined as he has that type of character. He hopefully brings some of the attitude that Reading had, we are too nice a club, if you went to the Reading games did you notice how the ball boys were drilled to return the ball quickly to the home team but delay the return to the away team. We need to be mean all round, on the pitch, in the dressing rooms and in the stands without being out and out nasty.
  20. Somefigures upto 25th April 2009: John, 20 goals in 38 games = 0.52% or 1 in 1.9 games; Rasiak, 33 in 68 = 0485% or 1 in 2.06 games and Saganomski 20 in 43 = 0.465% or 1 in 2.15 suggests John would be the biggest loss but there's not much in it. I'm not to concerned at the moment and trust Pardew to do his job, very please that there is a SFC to watch and for others to ***** about!
  21. I'd be happy with Martin Allen, knows this league and use to operating on a small income.
  22. Here's a question, you can have Drew or BWP not both, for me it would be Surman every time. The season he pyayed with Bale at left back was excellent. I believe he is suffering from a lack of confidance and feeling the responsibility of a local lad in his team. I think his and many others fitness could improve a lot which says something about the non playing activities at Saints but I would still select Drew over DWP ant day.
  23. So Oakley was invigorated by his move to Derby, how many of the incoming players were invigorated by their move to St Marys, from what I witnessed not many. I think that is a reflection on the type of management we had following WGS. They did not appear to care or were not able to motivate the team. I believe it reflects the easy going attitude that has been at Saints for to long. Even this season too many players have looked unfit for the 95 minutes required to last a full game. We need a complete clear out and a new manager who will work the players hard, because that is the only way we will survive in Div 1 let alone get out of it. Oakleys words should be posted on the changing room walls for all to see. Any potential new owner needs a manager with Div 1 experience. I would suggest MAD DOG Martin Allen and poor mans WGS and boy are we poor!
  24. Dalek2003, that's like saying I'll buy a ticket for last weeks lottery as I now know the winning numbers, no guarantee Hoddle would have stayed long term. My only supprise with the 10 point deduction is that the FL didn't wait until after the last game of the season and the unlikely event that we stayed up. Let's all move on and get behind the future of the football team and hope who ever is in charge learns from the last 4 years.
