Oops they did it again - Match Fixing in 4th Test
wadesmith replied to dubai_phil's topic in General Sports
It's wierd, my first thought is anyone involved should be kicked out of the game for Life...but when Le Tis admitted he had deliberately booted a ball out for a throw-in and there was some outrage I was thinking, 'What's all the fuss about?' I can't work out if it's my Love of Le Tis, or that I care more about the integrity of Cricket than football. -
I agree, I totally coated off Razzaq after the Somerset game when he conceded about 60 runs in 4 overs, I also thought McKenzie was a load of crap as well, so I put my hands up to that one & for once I am glad to have been proved wrong. They were both superb last night.

Greatest achievement in Hampshires one-day history in my opinion, 3 nineteen year olds & one player just turned twenty. 3 players born in Hampshire & one Isle of Wight. 5 players that would normally walk into the team either not selected or injured. And we one our last four games against the four best one-day teams in the country. No-one should underate this achievement just cos it's 20-20.

So chuffed for em. We've got in the final the right way. Some young local players. Sme old knckered players, and it's justified not picking Peterson, and we didn't sign a star player for 1 game only. Great achievement. have to win the final now though.

The love this band get, symbolises how far guitar music has sunk in the last 20 years. 'Flip-chart Indie' of the lowest order. Please someone bury these cretins n the nearest 'Indie land-fill' site. It's Jo Wiley rock
-
You cant get into a final with poor bowling Briggs, Woods and Corky all brilliant.
-
I agree it's probably not the greatest spectacle for the purist, but it's given us a chance to blood 4 young players all born in Hampshire (I think) and they all look pretty damn fine. I watched Hampshire all through the eighties & I don't think I saw 4 decent Hampshire born players in the whole decade.....although I would welcome someone to prove me wrong!

Incredible effort. We were absoloutely dire at the start of the season. We then lost Dimi, Kabir Ali then Afridi got picked for Pakistan, Michael Lumb lost his form, Pothas & Jones got injured...and we still made it to the semis! It turns out the above may be a blessing in disguise as we surely would not have picked a team with Vince, Briggs, Bates and Woods all playing. So pleased for Cork. Fantastic example & just what our younger players need. This could represent a big turning point for the immediate future of Hampshire.

I went to one in Bournemouth about a month ago. Very laid back. Three hours, you can either get involved..or sit back & daydream. The two guys presenting ours were just grateful most people had turned up. We watched about 3 videos of the type you see on telly after 9.00pm, and just did two group excercises. It was all pretty easy going.

Malcolm Marshall -The greatest of the great West Indies quicks
wadesmith replied to chrisobee's topic in General Sports
I saw my first ever Hampshire game aged 9 at the United Services Ground , it was Marshalls first season 1979. There were a load of Pompey boys banging beer cans and chanting 'Kill'Kill'Kill' every time he bowled. Wisden tells me he took 5-13 that day. It was ****ing brilliant! He took over 800 wickets for Hampshire at 17.91...17.91!!! The greatest ever. -
No one ever mentions 'Chaplins'. It was Southampton's equivalant of 'The Hacienda' It seemed to have a never ending 'Malibu Drinks Promotion'
-
Lallana not smiling in photo's. Indication that he doesn't want to be here?
-
Razzaq 4 overs 64 runs. Don't let the door smack your arse on the way out. Bloody hell I used to watch Marshall bowl his guts out at Northlands for peanuts. This plum only has to bowl 4 overs every fortnight, gets paid a fortune & still can't be arsed. What a ****ing wand.
-
Tell me about. Our overseas players suck donkey balls (mckenzie excepted) if you don't wanna play, get lost. We've got enough talent in the squad anyway.
-
We are getting ****ing spanked here. Disgrace. **** off Razzaq you're crap.
-
Yeah, I have kind of contradicted myself. I guess i'm just suprised how well the bowling is performing without Jones,Ali & Afridi. To be honest I'm a bit concerned for Hampshire. We've ploughed all this money into the ground & the crowds for the two 20/20 games (Kent & last night) i thought were poor. I hope we can pay for all this.
-
Ah mate, I'm in no doubt they care, I think they've just had a total shocker. The wisdom of signing Simon Jones (about 10 games in 5 years) Kabir Ali (great player, injury prone) and thinking we'd get Afridi (mega player, nutjob maverick who was never going to turn up) on the other hand has left us with a pretty average team. I'm all for us signing one of the above...but anyone with an ounce of sense should have seen the iceburg approaching. Peterson back on Sunday though, & at least our bowling looks ok.
-
Looking interesing. Try & bat another 10-15 overs tomorrow, declare, that gives them the rest of the day to get 300 on a four day wicket. Could go either way.
-
Yeah but to paraphrase Bill Hicks, 'After the first three Greek teams...theres a reaaaaaaaal big ****ing drop-off'
-
Ah I know, i may have been overly optimistic in my previous post, but the word is that Herath may be the dog's swingers (visa pending!) Too be honest the championships a bit of a lottery. At the start of the season I thought we could come first ...last...mid-table....god knows, theres so many factors (weather, England call-ups, sporting declarations) I'll be honest i'm a bit of a purist myself, but i'd love Hants to do well in T20 & get in the 'World Champinship of mega-stars' or whatever it's called. I mean I used to watch Nigel Cowley bowl in-front of 3 supporters & 6 stewards fot god's sake!
-
C'mon fellah, chin up we started like this two years ago...then Tahir appeared & we almost won the championship. Lumb's coming back, Dimi's coming back, Jones is nearly fit & we've got some foreign spinner who no ones ever heard of, in the last stages of Visa clearance. We haven't become rubbish overnight. I think we're be ok.
-
Be careful I remember thinking the same when we signed Tahir...and then he pretty much won us 5 games on the trot...but I know what you mean his record doesnt suggest he's going to start ripping up trees.
-
Yeah what a 'Dope', wondering why he put a player on and then take him off after 20 minutes. That's certainly not the question I would have been asking. (i'm being sarcastic here)
-
No chance. Sent from my Etch-A-Sketch

I agree during the mid-eighties it was hard to find a Hampshire player born in England. Smith Brothers (s-Africa) Marshall, Greenidge (W/Indies) PJ Baker (Holland) Paul Terry (Germany) C. Connor (Not Sure). One of the English born players that springs to mind was Rajesh Maru.
