But what if the team in 18th has 36 points, so you add a point to make it 37......but the team in 17th had 38 points, therefore surely you would still go down?
-
It seems a dangerous road to go down, to expect every footballer to adopt the morals and beliefs of those who buy a ticket and watch them. I'm pro choice...but what if a saints player is anti-abortion. I'm not sure where you draw the line. Putting pressure on someone to wear a poppy against their will seems a bit fascist, and as we all know that iswhat we were fighting. (i will add i'm a bleeding heart liberal therefore recognise that my thumb is probably not on the political pulseof this forum) to be honest the fact that we are able to debate this without fear of any consequence is a pretty good tribute to the freedem our granparents & parents fought for.
-
God no! I'm more interested in the person. If it came down to a Serial killer who wore a poppy & believed in everything it stands for or a person I find a decent human being who doesnt wear a poppy then I would choose the latter everytime. If i'm being totally honest I didn't wear a poppy today, yet I have total respect for those who fought for my freedom. A poppy is merely a bit of plastic, a symbol. I prefer to judge people in other ways. I accept many will disagree. I refuse to make assumptions about someones morals based on a bit of plastic.
-
To me The poppy represents freedom...which includes the freedom not wear a poppy on your shirt if you don't want to. Sometimes it takes more courage to stand by your convictions, whether we find them palatable or not.

Not only am I still depressed..but I now feel intellectually inadequate. Cheers Champ.

The above typifies modern football. I used to get the hump if my Bovril was too cold....now someones brassed off about the paucity of choice between 'croque monsieurs' and 'chicken ceasar wraps'. 'how was the football love?', 'could have been better..my croque monsieur was ****'

League 1 goalkeeper. League 1 defenders. League 1 Puncheon.

Yeah good call with David Turner, I thought about him, but thought we only won 2 JP Leagues. I will bow to your greater knowledge on this one! He was a bit of an enigma. He looked about 42 when he started playing, and seemed to get better with age. By the time he retired he looked about 76. I think it's fair to say you just don't see players like him anymore, proper county stalwart, always a favourite of mine, bridged the era between Richards,Greenidge & Marshall.

I reckon Sean Ervine has now collected 5 oneday winners medals with Hants. 2005 & 2009. Two 20/20 winners medals and another today. Is he the most decorated Hampshire player? I can't beleive he's still only 29.

What an amazing team we are! Such a shame there were so many empty seats, and Hampshire only got 2000 tickets. I know that people said you can get them direct from Lords, but no one I knew realised that. Such an underated team. If Surrey or Yorkshire had won the double with 6 players 22 or under we would never hear the end of it! Amazing effort!

That's the spirit. Next year we will romp it. Just need to play Briggs andWoods every game. Katich is great...but he's been such a let-down this season, I thougt he'd get 1200 runs easy. Carbs amazing in one dayers...championship a disaster. Next season i'm telling ya.
-
I dunno Vince starting to look class. I would love to know why you get fined points for a pitch that favours spin...but no mention of a fine for producing a pitched biased towards seam(not that I think they should get fined) i think a score of 250 could be pretty good.
-
Yeah, thought we would come back up straight away. I felt Carberry,Adams & katich would pile up runs this season, didn't happon. Things still look promising for next year though.
-
Oh cool..i'll do that. Cheers
-
Hampshire allocated 2000 seats is that a joke? Everytime I've been to a final there are thousands of empty seats? There are 26000 seats at Lords, if Hants & Warks get 4000, will they really shift another 22000? They can't even sell out England one-day internationals?
-
Or possibly not. This team never knows when it is beaten.
-
Nothing I haven't seen us do dozens of times. Mark Nicholas was the master of talking the opposition into setting up a match on the last day. I once saw Bobby Parks take off his wicky gloves and bowl 10 overs.
-
Can't comment on Sky...but I had to listen on 5 live...it was embarrasing...after we beat Somerset the focus was all about Trescothick it was if they wanted to check he was ok.. i think they thought this was going to push him into another 3 years of therapy. Don't even get me started on the final...I think they are in denial and think that Yorkshire won! Brilliant effort Hampshire fantastic example of great teamwork...5 players under 22 years old that have now reached 3 final days on the trot...that is incredible.
-
Dimi Mascherana has to now go down as a Hampshie legend. I reckon if he had chosen to play for Australia he would have been up there with Andrew Symonds but England didn't seem to like him...what a waste. BBC commentary totally bumming Somerset, Yorkshire and Sussex...I forgot Hampshire were playing at one point.
-
Not quite still need to get 108 runs..but the probably will be.
-
Yeah good response, i've heard similiar from a couple of other people. I think maybye my biggest fear is that today is a symbol for the state of county cricket. I think those in charge of county cricket totally blew it after 2005. We had the ashes win, Counties were getting huge crowds for 20/20's amd then as per everyone god greedy. Overloaded fixtures, ridicoulous itinery(last weekend Hants didn't have a game, but they had a CB40 starting at 16:00 on Tuesday!) i actually think Rod Bransgrovei is very forward thinking, but he is going to possibly end up paying the cost of those in charge English Crickets stupidity. I can't beleive i'm having this rant when we might win 3 trophies, but I really fear for the future of county cricket.
-
I mean this absolutely sincerely as a big hampshire fan, but I just can't consider half filling a ground for one of the biggest games of the season, when the tickets were given away free, and the weather was scorching, as a fantastic success...in fact I see it as a massive worry. I love the club, and I realise they will put a massive spin on it..but behind the scenes someone must be worried. Kevan James voiced his dissapointment on the radio today.
-
Wow a crucial game, sunny day, Kevin Peterson, tickets given away free...and only 6k actually turn up. I guess that is cricket & Bransgroves problem in a nutshell. Pretty dissapointing tbh.
-
Rose Bowl sold out tomorrow, as all tickets were free...which is a great thing...but with Peterson playing, and sunny weather they may have shifted a few tickets anyway! Neverming should be good atmosphear.
-
Wow looks like are going to win this..incredible if we do! Probably coult have got odds of 100-1 abot 5 hours ago
