Fair enough. I misunderstood what you meant. I agree the Bates Situation is pretty sad. If Bobby Parks was around today he'd probably be playing minor counties..it's crazy. I've still got faith in Vince & Briggs ( spinners often mature around 27 onwards) I think Woods and Daws are pretty good one day players, but sadly not 4 day. Bottom line is as most of us feared we probably are not good enough for Div 1

I think it Just goes in phases. I cant think of any decent players we produced from about 93 to 2000. I do admit though the cupboard looks bare at the moment. Suprised Briggs didn't plat this game. If youve got 3 mediocre seamers why pick another one? I

Match Drawn. Too be honest I think our bowling has done about as well as it could this season. One of our front line bowlers has taken 250 wickets at an average of over 40 & another is 39 years old, so we are never going to blow sides away. Our batting really has to start posting 400 plus scores to give us a chance. I think a lot rests on if Briggs can have a good summer with the ball.

ON the positive Briggs 4 wickets today. We get skittled tomorrow..... follow on...rack up 450....they have to chase 220 on a wearing pitch. Briggsy does the business...1 game...1 win.

If this is correct then it is bizarre! What benefit would the club have in saying a game is sold out if ther is 200 empty seats? Surely we are just throwing money away, people are not going to try for a ticket if it's annonced as sold out? The club have got this wrong if it's correct.

Definately not blaming them. I agree he's exceptional. I feel it wouldn't be right to let him have 3/4 games a season, when everyone knows he's got so much talent. My guess is Hampshire know they need at least 4 wins next season to stay up & Wheater can come in when we are 70 for 4 and within 3 hours we can be 200 for 4 , and have started to take the game away from the opposition. I think they were faced with a difficult situation in trying to keep both talented players happy. Why no one has come if for him...well I have no idea...cos I think we all agree he's fantastic behind the stumps.

I bet it was a really tough decision for Hants to release Bates, he's probably the best Hampsire wicketkeeper i've seen in my 36 years of watching. But I think if we are not playing himthey are alomst obliged to let him go & have a career elsewhere. Although their batting averages are similiar, Bates will score 25-30 each innings, Wheater will have a touch of genius every so often, and completely change a game in 3 hours. Whether it's the right decision....god knows. The way Briggs has been treated on the other hand is pretty poor in my opinion.

Bates will have a fantastic career with someone. Best wicketkeeper in the country imo.....but I can see why he had to go.

Seemed odd to drop Briggs (Weston to thread, give us the lowdown on that decision) i'm still confident. Barring a disaster in this game it's gonna be in our hands. We've got Glamorgan, Essex have got Worcester, we are going up.

I didn't notice him going back to the others teams dressing room, daft sod! I was saying on the way home how him and Kevin Pietersen were probably in a bar somewhere getting smashed and moaning how **** life is! I actually felt sorry for Coles, hope they all stuck by him. They actually seem a good bunch of lads, I think what they've achieved in 5 years with no star names is pretty incredible. If Yorkshire or Surrey had done the same we would never have heard the end of it. Yeah i'm sure promotions in the bag.
