  1. He must have been promised something good by someone. Why else would he do such a U-turn and then keep so quiet? After all, his shares aren't worth a whole lot right now.
  2. Hey, go easy on the guy. He's only doing what he's told!
  3. That stuff on the OS will not change until his lordship stops running the club as his personal fiefdom.
  4. And together they've been waiting for the right moment - i.e. early next year - if this thread proves to be correct!
  5. Now if the spineless, cap doffing shareholders those two represent did the right thing at the AGM, the future could be quite different. I wonder how they think they are protecting their investment now?
  6. A conspiracy theorist might say that this was a plan by Lord Lowe to gain absolute control of the club. He and Wilde are just waiting for the administrators to come in so they can buy up everything for a song and then continue the experiment. The supporters? Who cares about them, they will learn of the wisdom of His Majesty Saint Rupert...
  7. Perhaps this was Lord Lowe's plan all along. A sad, sad day.
  8. Commentary on Radio 5 Sports Extra this afternoon. I hope it's less painful than the last broadcast game...
  9. Has anyone, can anyone come up with a better alternative than Lowe's plan? He gets a lot of criticism on here, but I still have yet to see what else the club can do in the real world. (Takeover? Ha!) Any suggestions from abroad?
  10. It is a measure of Lowe's judgement that he even offered the job to Redknapp and the way he managed here is a measure of Redknapp's true character. I am not impressed by either.
  11. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Worthington I'm sure there's enough here to help you think of a question. Not lacking self-confidence, our Frank, but he was part of that great team of 83-84.
  12. The comments here remind me of a little while back, the last time we were facing relegation. This is truly relegation form - unable to score and shipping goals. I am a glass half-full person, as a rule, but my glass is certainly half empty at the moment and I can't see any way of refilling it any time soon.
  13. While Rupert's in charge, no one else's opinion matters. His word is law. We must all bow down and worship, including Jan, Wotte, Hockaday, etc. The sad truth is that not even a billionaire could oust him without the help of all the other shareholders, so for now, we must just get behind JP and the team and hope that BWP and McG can score goals like Stern John did last season. Ho hum!
  14. Yeah, and we got shot of Dyer... Tsk!
  15. Joe Strummer? - cool! I saw the Clash at the Top Rank, oh, 30 years ago. Good times. There is more chance of the Clash playing there again than Hoddle coming back to Saints (I hope).
  16. There's a little bit of history repeating itself here (isn't that right, Gordon). The trouble is, as long as Lowe is in control in the board room, his word is law - apart from what the bank says, of course.
  17. "We require some tactical nous on how to remain in this league at present." So, the question is, does Billy D have the nous and/or the inclination to "save" us? I am not convinced (and I don't like the bloke!)
  18. Sadly, our "first team" is, in reality, a 1st team and reserve team all rolled into one. It's getting the twenty or so championship players we have the problem with!
  19. Derby couldn't invest, neither can we, so it's much the same situation here, only a league lower!
  20. I will doff my cap to the person who can come up with a viable, financially sound alternative to what we've got. Until then, it's a case of grin and bear it, whichever side of the Lowe/Wilde divide you are on. BTW, Eastern potentates, Russian gangsters and men with suitcases need not apply!
  21. Little Billy criticised the Derby board for lack of investment so what would he say if he was employed here? And if he's so good, how come he is still unemployed a year after getting the sack? Is it really time to change the manager with less than a quarter of the season gone? I think our squad will learn and pull things round. There are enough good things about the team to be optimistic. After all, we are (marginally) better off position wise now than we were at the end of last season.
  22. Lowe cannot sell the club on his own. He is a minority shareholder and all the big shareholders would have to agree before any takeover could happen. There has to be a credible bid, too. It's not going to happen any time soon. Get over it.
  23. "If I were him I would have been devastated. Head in my hands looking quite sick. Not smiling looking as if I don't have a care in the world." So you can mind-read? Perhaps it was a rueful smile. After all, the enormity of task facing the club over the next few months will make some cry and some laugh. Whichever you choose to do doesn't mean you are not taking things seriously. And a rueful smile seems justified after some of the things that happened in the match. 4-1 is not a fair reflection of the two teams play, especially as one is certainly the richest in the Championship. (Hint, it's not us!)
  24. The current owner might need a bit of cash to grease a few palms back home soon. One of the hazards of having a dodgy foreign owner... ...eerie silence from the skates!
  25. Sorry to see him go, but I think Davies and his agent orchestrated this move. If he had a clause in his contract then there is little the club could do and that might explain why JP seemed out of the loop - Davies hasn't told anyone at SMS yet!
