  1. Seconded with knobs on! The more I hear from Mr Lynam, the more I like the guy. Such a refreshing change from the patronising, I-can-do-no-wrong guff we have heard from previous board members.
  2. AS I've said on another thread, the people actually responsible, the buffoons that have been running the clubs in recent years, get away without any punishment at all. If they were banned from having anything at all to do with a football club I would feel better and the legal "loophole" was allowed by the Football League in the first place and seemingly encouraged. Instead of addressing the problem, which started 25 years ago, they have bottled doing anything about it for fear of upsetting the "big" clubs who are nearly all owned by plc holding companies. Instead the FL chooses to kick people like Luton and us when they are down, probably because it makes them feel big and important when, in fact, they have very little power at all. If people like Pinnacle don't challenge these arbitrary and possibly illegal decisions by the FL then football will in the long run suffer. If Pinnacle choose to go this way they will have my eternal support and my undying respect, for what it's worth. Does anyone honestly think MLT would seriously jeopardise the existence of the club? Rolling over and letting the FL tickle your tummy will only lead to more of the same for some other club where the players, employees and supporters will suffer, not the ones who made the mess. End of rant!
  3. Now, where have I heard this before? Ah yes, is this the five minute argument or the full half-hour? Personal insults are much more fun than rational thought. GM does have a point, even if he is a bit in your face at times. The deal could be scuppered by the FL, it might fail because of the legal subtleties of two entities that are either inextricably linked or entirely separate. Then again, the FL might just back down and everything gets finalised on Monday. I live in hope.
  4. I'm all for making a fight of it and accepting the consequences. The FL was all too ready to roll over and let the "big" clubs drive a cart and horses through a loophole in the regulations 25 years ago when the plc thing first started. Then the Premier league happened and the FL rolled over again and spinelessly accepted the diktats issued by the group that we were part of at the time. Now they are taking out their pent up spite with petty vindictiveness on clubs like Luton, Bournemouth and now us. What the FL has failed to do again and again is punish the people responsible for each club's failure. Instead, they take it out on the innocent parties, the players, club employees and supporters. The people responsible escape Scot free. I, for one, really hope that not only do Pinnacle succeed in their bid but also run this through the courts until Mawhinney and his acolytes are exposed for the bunch of shallow, self-interested old f*rts that they are. Bring it on.
  5. I think these guys have invested too much to pull out now. Good for them for pushing the FL and their arbitrary and unfair decisions. I hope the consortium's lawyers are up for a fight.
  6. That would be fantastic! Who could possibly doubt KK's and MLT's football credentials?
  7. MLT, KK and Dowie... chairman, DoF and head coach. That would just make my day. :-)
  8. This is just idle speculation - the Echo is no more in the know than the ITKers on here! We've just got to get behind whoever Pinnacle choose.
  9. If Gillet and Hicks cannot refinance their current debt next month, then, no and LFC are in serious trouble.
  10. Not much money for the club but at least a clean slate! http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4418936.Dyer_cash_blow_for_Saints/
  11. Dowie, a bit of money and a five year plan should do us very nicely. If he could build a team with the same attitude to playing as he had, then it would be one we could all get behind and cheer (wouldn't that be a nice change from some recent displays).
  12. Yep, it seems he's getting US$50,000+ a week playing for Haiphong Cement. More than loose change, even for our new owner, I expect.
  13. We need a left back, not a left winger, I'd have thought. Perhaps he's in Vietnam for reasons other than football?
  14. Some people seem to have forgotten what Tony Lynam thinks of MLT already "Matt will have a pivotal role at the club - and I would urge you all to never under estimate this mans ability. You all know of his amazing skills as a footballer. As a friend of his for a number of years, I also know the other side of Matt, and believe me, he has a very wise head on those shoulders." Before questioning his abilities in any area, let's see what his new role will be and then let him justify Lynam's faith in him. And how about a little more reasoned debate instead of the inevitable, tedious d*ck waving contests. Just a thought.
  15. Just make me proud to be a Saints fan again!
  16. The home page doesn't seem to display properly in Firefox - no adverts (shame :-)) I'll bookmark the news page just so I'm kept in the loop!
  17. After such a long time being half empty, my glass is very definitely half full and it won't be long before it's topped right up by the sound of things. Well done all involved and thank you MLT for keeping the faith. Fingers crossed there are no nasties unearthed as the paperwork gets completed - it's not quite a done deal yet but these guys seem pretty determined to get Saints back where we all want them to be - team to be proud of.
  18. If you're right, he has a few bob but why Saints? Is he chummy with Mike Channon? Seems he's had a go at buying a football club before http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/media/article4769451.ece but otherwise I just don't see the connection. We can all sleep a little easier while the £500,000 lasts, but the fat lady isn't singing just yet. I hope more details of the proposed deal emerge soon.

  20. TBH, I don't care at the moment who was responsible - I just want to know that we'll have a club to support next season.
  21. Watch it skates. Someone with a sense of humour might get you lot playing home games a SFC to save the cost of building a replacement for your shack!
  22. Sadly, the feelings of the fans are very low on his list of priorities. My feeling is that if enough money is not offered the creditors would rather take a hit and let the club fold than set a precedent and get too few pennies on the pound from a low bid, even if it beats liquidation.
  23. Same for me, Ladysaint. Here's my post from another thread: I saw Andover play quite a bit as a kid, we lived a few hundred yards from the Walled Meadow, but I never felt I was a supporter. I saw Reading and Ipswich now and then because we had family nearby, but I could never get very excited. If Saints go under I shall porbably give up following football altogether, there is just no other team I could feel the same way about, no other team I would feel the same rush for at 3 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon. I cannot describe how bad I feel about the current situation, especially when you think the wages of one top Premiership player for one year could get us out of a spot and I imagine the administrator haggling over pennies. There is something badly wrong in English game and SFC is a symptom. If we are saying RIP SFC this time next week the FA and the FL need to take a long hard look at themselves, not for me - I won't be watching football, but for the sake of all those other fans who will suffer the way we have. :smt013
