Now, will Mr. Fry and the creditors accept what inevitably will be a lower offer than Pinnacle's? That could be our best chance in the long run.

Why Fry could make the Swiss could walk away
Leslie Charteris replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Surely it would be in the interests of all parties concerned to have a good look at any new offer rather than just say "Here's a contract, sign it or shove off." -
I can hardly bring myself to consider it, but 1885 Southampton FC would get us to the top of a lot of lists. (Alphabetically)

Why can't Guided Missile answer the question??
Leslie Charteris replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
Don't be silly, that would be an admission of responsibility! (Not something our previous great leader was particularly adept at.) -
Let's hear something positive from everybody

Seeing Ron Davies head the winner on my first ever trip to The Dell. -
Yep, someone needs to put an actual, genuine cheque or money order for a substantial amount of cash into Mr. Fry's hand within the week or SFC is history.

Why can't Guided Missile answer the question??
Leslie Charteris replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
Hey, great thread. SFC is facing possible extinction within a week and some are still more concerned about scoring points off other posters. Perhaps people are just venting their frustration at being so powerless to do anything. Perhaps some just feel insecure and need to lash out. So here's my message - step back all you potless t*ssers and step forward all you minted angels and write a nice fat cheque to the ever-patient Mr. Fry so that Mr. Wotte or whoever can start getting on with pre-season training and all the staff can get paid. -
One reason why I can't see us going out of business.
Leslie Charteris replied to hypochondriac's topic in The Saints
I don't think the FL will worry too much if SFC folds. They will just promote a League 2 team, get a team in from the Blue Square Prem and so on. It will be as if we never existed. What I really don't get is that now Lowe and co. are out of the picture, why are there no really serious buyers? Many other clubs have been bought out or taken over but all we seem to attract are tyre-kickers and fantasists. Surely, even in these straitened times, someone can see the potential in the club, and at a knock-down price, a mere fraction of a Premier League transfer fee. I just don't get it, but at least by this time this week we should know one way or the other. My glass is half-empty tonight. :-( -
So Pinnacle are potless... ...oh dear!

Message from Tony Lynam Friday 26th June 10:11am
Leslie Charteris replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
I seem to remember someone else exhorting us to "keep the faith" in the not too distant past... I just hope we'll not be let down again. -

So the reason for the delay is to make sure the announcement is made on a Friday... ... or more likely to get a cast iron legal agreement with the Football League that they will not add any more points to the 10 already deducted. -10 is manageable, -25 means you have to get 75 or more to be out of the drop zone at the end of the season. Not good for ticket sales.

Hallelujah:D!

So, the FL have called Pinnacle's bluff. Is this the beginning of the end or the or the beginning of a new dawn? Let us know soon, please, TL.

Aha! So it's cleverly disguised lawyer-speak for "Up yours, Pinnacle ...and SFC."

The FL has just issued a statement that says absolutely nothing! http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/News/FLNewsDetail/0,,10794~1698158,00.htm

Does the Beeb know something we don't? They have us at -10 points at the bottom of League 1.

Time to Hear From the Organ Grinder...?
Leslie Charteris replied to Guided Missile's topic in The Saints
Thanks for the insight, GM. If you are right then we're in for another very interesting episode of the SFC saga this week. -
I've got a Xerox CopyCentre C20 that needs a good seeing to. Does anybody on here know someone who could help?

GM, are you having a bad week? Are you just out for a wind-up? Do you know something we mere mortals don't? Pray tell. -
The "club" (i.e. SFC) has not gone into administration. That is the point. It is not a technicality, it is a point of fact. The FL argue that the two (SFC and SLH) are inextricably linked and that is also true, but, if the rules state that if the club goes into administration the points will be deducted then, fair enough, accept your medicine and move on. SFC did not go into administration, so I would contend that, legally, the FL are in the wrong. They should go away and write some proper rules, ones that stop such situations arising in the first place. A blind man could have seen this happening to a club at some point. What did the FL do to stop it? NOTHING! As ye sow, so shall ye reap - seems to be an appropriate quote.

The one reason to set up a plc holding company is to line the pockets of those with shares. The only thing RL will get from me is an ironic smile as he counts his losses.

Well said, and I have yet to see or hear of any evidence to show that SFC have broken any rules.
