  1. I think we'd have the 6th richest owners - slightly different. I don't think how rich they are is the most important thing, how they run their businesses is the a bigger consideration. They seem to be extremely well run and successful which makes me cautiously optimistic today, despite all the negativity flying around here. Something is going down if I read Fry's language correctly and the fact that Wotte passed on on a lucrative contract elsewhere would seem to back this up. The hints about Wayne Thomas being too expensive give the impression that the new owners have a business model for the club's future and that we are not going to do a "Manchester City" anytime soon. If are new owners are the Liebherr group then the signs are that they will be more financially prudent than another financial prudence that ran the club but they'll also have enough in their pockets to keep us going during hard times.
  2. Flippin' 'eck! I've been out all day and then come back to this. I'll be back later when I've changed my underpants to check the Eastleigh score. (Bet it's not as exciting as this thread.)
  3. I'm sure the only reason he is "on trial" is because there is no-one in the club who can offer him a proper contract at the moment. I'm just glad he's even considering playing for us, he could become the lynch-pin of our team and a potential Saints hero dragging us out of the dark times. Here's hoping...
  4. I always thought that, publically, Daves Jone conducted himself with great dignity during this whole affair. IMHO, Lowe should have put someone in charge of the first team on a strictly temporary basis. When Hoddle was brought in, did anyone seriously think Jones would get his job back, whatever the outcome of the trial? I wish him all the best, working with another "charismatic" chairman.
  5. So either Wotte is an optimist or he knows something we don't (as was hinted at on another thread).
  6. Mumbai loos have tin roofs, too!
  7. Raziak or John? Perhaps they should have a pie eating contest (Organised by the World class catering, of course) to help us decide.
  8. LOL - it helps to have a sense of humour as you go down!
  9. He was under no obligation to stay, he's out of contract now, so well done him. It's good that someone will be around to take training tomorrow and pick a team for Saturday. Anyway, the Academy players will be all that's left at this rate, so it will be a good way in to his new job...
  10. ..and who has he agreed with? Fry? The new owners as they put ink on a contract to buy the club?
  11. If there's only one bid then it depends on whether or not the creditors will accept the amount offered, so come on, Mr. Fry, now is the time to earn your fees.
  12. I guess we've got to give them until the end of the day. MLT still seemed optimistic in the video interview he gave to the Echo from the golf course yesterday. Mind you I'm always optimistic at the start of a round of golf.
  13. Ironic, isn't it, that this situation was entirely avoidable - even without hindsight!
  14. Wahay! We're minted. The end of administration is nigh.
  15. So the firesale begins?
  16. Fry's fall-back position to be announced Friday? (It's got to be Friday!)
  17. It must be the Jeff Stelling connection!
  18. From what I can glean from all the tit-bits, half truths and rumours flying around, this is how I see the two bids: Pinnacle - bigger overall sum (£15 million rumoured) with a relatively small payment up front (£5 million) and then regular installments based on league position and some other factors. Swiss bid - smaller overall bid (£10 million?) but as a one-off payment and then an unknown amount available for team development. Mr Fry looks like he is holding on to the hope that Pinnacle finally come up with the funds as that would mean more for the creditors but the longer they hold out the more likely he is to take the Swiss groups cast-iron cert £10 million. Anyone else see it like this?
  19. His record since leaving Leeds speaks for itself...
  20. You mean a conspiracy? Surely not...
  21. I'll breathe a sigh of relief when Pinnacle show the colour of their money, in fact when anyone stumps up the cash! I'm still not sure, though, about someone who allegedly threatens to walk away because of some sloppy journalism from a two-bit provincial rag... but that could just be more sloppy journalism.
  22. How about Future Stoke City Players?
  23. When are we going to get a deal then, Mikey? The Swiss group might just sign a cheque first, if you're not careful. Or worse... http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4462656.7_more_days_to_save_Saints____and_this_time_its_serious/ The clock is ticking.
  24. Ah yes, timing is everything! As you have posted on another thread: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4462780.Fry_happy_Fialka_wealth_is_real/?ref=rss
  25. True, but they haven't admitted that they are potless and they haven't shown that they have any real money either. Which is it, Tony, Mikey or whoever?
