  1. This could be our winningest team for a long, long time and then we should all have Mr Happy Avatars!
  2. Who in this league should we fear? No one in my opinion. Respect, yes, but fear, no. Norwich in the southern semi-final would be a good test and then a nice little trip to Wembley!
  3. I honestly thought this would be a draw a week ago, so I'm very happy that my prediction league score was wrong on all counts!
  4. Blimey, I never even thought about that!
  5. May 2011 - if we're not in the top six.
  6. Does anyone think that the people who appointed AP are going to put their hands up and say "we got it wrong" after ten games? I don't think so. These people are professionals who have made a professional judgement. They must have faith in him to let him make all the back room staff changes and everything else he has done. He will not be sacked this season, in my opinion, and probably not next, either.
  7. ...and fair comment! I think Pardew knows that things aren't right. AP and the new owners are here for the long haul and they will get it right, eventually, of that I am sure. It's just a bit frustrating in the mean time.
  8. I'm glad to hear that Cortese and co are "custardising" the club and that the fans are the real owners. Keep on dishing up the custard guys!
  9. Apparently, Pompey had less than 500 turn up at Villa yesterday. Are the rats deserting a sinking ship or is this just their true level of support? I wonder how many will turn up to watch in their tin shed when they return to League One.
  10. Fate dealt us a good hand when Herr Liebherr took an interest in our club. I think we are much better off with the Alan we've got now. We have something solid now, not smoke and mirrors.
  11. I don't think we'll start winning until every player has his own personal trainer and life coach...
  12. I think ML dipped into his pocket to buy the club and its debts and is now insisting that the club keeps expendture within income, give or take a few bob, which will be great if the home gates carry on as they've started. I don't think Herr Liebherr became independently wealthy of the rest of his family by letting his companies run at a loss!
  13. Happy! AP seems to have rebuilt the team without great expenditure but with an eye to the future. Once he can get them to play together as a team, I'm sure we will all be very happy. Four more games to +ve points?
  14. Long term plans, long term investment and AP looks like he's in it for the long haul. It helps relieve the pain of only one win so far. No jam today, but maybe jam tomorrow and the day after.
  15. This just makes me think even more that AP is the man for the job. If you (Mr. pi**ed of player) don't like it, put in a transfer request - you still have over a week to find a more accommodating club and AP can get someone in who'll play for the shirt and not for themselves.
  16. A 25 year old and a 19 year old have been arrested in connection with the incident, apparently.
  17. I think Pardew is looking at the bigger picture as well. He is rebuilding the whole infrastructure within the club and I am sure that, given time, we will see results on all fronts. There is no rush, we need 60+ points this season and then we can move forward with a squad of AP's choosing and, hopefully more good youngsters going through the academy. It is frustrating not getting results like Lambert has at Norwich, but, I have been impressed with everything AP has had to say so far and, IMHO, anyone who is calling for Pardew's head already is a little premature, probably in other areas of their lives, too. Good post, NC, it will be interesting to hear why people object to this and AP's record so far.
  18. If Hammond plays, I think it could be a 2-1 win. Is he here yet? Why has there been no photo of him with AP and his new no. 14 shirt?
  19. This quote is a timely reminder that things do not always work out well: "After the death of Sir Bobby Robson, The Sun's Bob Harris wrote how Robson told him: "My biggest disappointment was Dennis Wise, a director of football who was hardly seen at the ground, and who brought in players who were neither suitable, nor right, for Newcastle United. I forgive most people, but I am not sure I can forgive Wise for what he did to my club.” Appoint with care, Mr Cortese!
  20. Now on OS http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1759634,00.html ...and has been for an hour or so!
  21. The trouble with supporters is that they only see the final product, never the process that gets it there. Pardew has stated that there are problems behind the scenes, not least the scouting set up. He has to be given time to sort these out, assemble a squad that bears his stamp and then get them playing the way he wants. That can't be done in three games. How can we judge progress? As has been said elsewhere, zero or better points by the end of next month would be a start, then perhaps we can move forwards the way Bournemouth did last season.
  22. Saint Peach, yours is far too reasonable and realistic a post to be popular here this morning. The sad truth is that much of our squad would struggle in the Blue Square leagues following a long period of selling anyone good, underinvestment and poor, poor choices by those that make decisions. However painful watching the current team is, we just have to give Pardew time to bulid and mould his squad. It's obvious he doesn't have blank cheques to write to help fill the holes in the team, but he has made some good purchases on the face of it and now we need to wait and see. We need to see progress, that's all, and we need to see it soon. Zero points or better by the end of September seems reasonable and let's hope that the likes of Norwich and Brighton keep helping us out by shipping shed loads of goals!
  23. If I recall correctly, Dr. Jeckyll was mild-mannered and a friendly sort, one who might give away goals at set pieces, for instance, because he didn't want to be rude. I think the team needs more of the cruel, remorseless nature of Mr. Hyde to take their chances and to dispatch the opposition. So, some defenders and a midfield (oh, and someone to play alongside Lambert) please.
  24. According to the Echo, "Alan Pardew admits Saints are likely to be something of a Jekyll and Hyde team for a while." So when are we going to see Mr. Hyde, Mr. Pardew?
  25. Don't worry, we'll score a hatful of goals. According to the OS, we have two Lamberts up front! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1759549,00.html
