Never gonna happen. One thing Monkey Boy down the road was right about was the problems caused by the transfer window ending a long time after the season starts. If we are going to dabble in the transfer market, it is only going to be in the crumbs that fall off the big boys' table. NPC maybe, but we are not big players - yet!

Doh! Being colourblind I didn't spot the links - they're not underlined!
-
This, plus anything but a win would ruin the party atmosphere. Surely this is a "must win" game for the fans and the team's self-respect!
-
Deano does much more than just play football, he is the gel in the team - that's why he should always be on the team sheet IMHO. I think he might have been carrying an injury earlier on and he did not play so well, but his performances lately have been great and his commitment absolutely 100%.

Who would you like to win the Play-Offs? (League 1)
Leslie Charteris replied to Nexstar's topic in The Saints
The Udders on merit, definitely, but it would be quite something to have four south coast teams in the same league. (What odds on the first team up and the first team down from the NPC out of the four?) -
85 points since you arrived, Nigel, an outstanding performance - bettered by no team in this league over forty games. Well done you, your staff and the players. This has been a great season because we're not used to winning so often - can anyone remember a season with so many wins and goals ? I can't, though some statistician may prove me wrong. I know we had a good season last year, but this one seems so much better somehow, not just because of (a probable) 2nd place. I have faith that you will buy wisely during the close season and we will perform well. Promotion? I am not getting my hopes up, but I believe that we will match Leeds or Millwall's achievements this year and, with a little luck... who knows?

What's your very first memory of a Saints game?
Leslie Charteris replied to sussexsaint's topic in The Saints
Ah, Deppo - so that avatar is your current likeness! I go back a bit further. We were visiting family near Ipswich so my Dad toook my brother and I to Portman Road back in aboout '66 or '67. I don't remember much about the game - I think we won - but I do remember my Dad offering to rearrange a few teeth of an Ipswich supporter who called Terry Paine a very rude name. (Shouldn't swear in front of children.) -
Even Rickie thinks it should be Jose - "The defence have been superb this season, it's reassuring to have them there," Lambert told BBC Radio Solent. OK, not just Jose, but Fonte gets my vote.

Poyet compares us with Dagenham and Redbridge
Leslie Charteris replied to thegaffer's topic in The Saints
A lot of people have poked fun at NA's public utterances but there's obviously a lot more going on behind the scenes. He certainly won the mind games this week and really got the team wanting the win and playing for each other. Tactically, he played a blinder today and showed Poyet up for the one-dimensional whinger that he is. Did you see Cardiff QPR today Gus? Who should fear them the most, Saints or BHA? -
This. Any respect I had for Gus Poyet and his achievements has now evaporated. Having watched bits of the Cardiff QPR match on TV today, which of the current teams would be best equipped to play them, Saints or BHA? Gus, I anticipate a rude awakening for you next season - I shall even smile when you get spanked by P*mpey.

So where's your money, Saints or Udders? Barring a catastrophic loss of form, it has to be with us! COYR!
-
Udders would need to improve their goal difference by 15 to equal ours, so, pedantically, 15 points will not guarantee an automatic promotion place, but it's as near a racing certainty as you'll get. 12 or 13 points will probably do it, but let's keep winning - it's a nice feeling and not one I've had too often over the last 40 years or so.

Saints v Charlton post match thread....
Leslie Charteris replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
Sunday, so he has to get through Saturday without getting booked! -
Jose Fonte for me, I think he is the main reason we've conceded less than a goal a game, on average.

1st or 2nd please.

Thanks Nigel! -

I was just thinking that he doesn't stay anywhere long and he hasn't been great since the cup game. -

Wow, didn't see that one coming. If he's as good as the OS says, then he should be a useful signing. Chaplow off soon, perhaps...??? -
No Ifs, No Buts, We Have To Win Tomorrow To Go 2nd!!!
Leslie Charteris replied to dannysfc's topic in The Saints
Charlton are in pretty poor form at the moment, I hope we don't get hit on the rebound - but I think we will win this one 3-1. -
Both teams in a bit of form at the moment, I can't bear the thought of the Fake Team doing well and Peterboghorror are the biggest rivals for 2nd spot, IMHO, so 0-0 against the odds would do nicely.
-
A workmanlike performance, two quality goals, none conceded, Bompey lost, Udders drew - a good day! More of the same Tuesday please.
-
It's easy - just walk up a mountain, contemplate your navel and yodel!
-
We win 3-0 and it's not good enough! 10 points added to my prediction league total will do nicely - shame 30 others predicted the same result! If we win on Saturday, surely the pessimists could force a smile!
