  1. Meanwhile, back OT, Yoshida scored on Saturday while captaining Japan and is out again tomorrow against Mexico. I wonder if the back room boys are close by. If there is any truth in the rumour, he could be a very astute purchase, he's only 23 and I don't think he has reached his peak yet.
  2. ...ain't that the truth!
  3. For a League One club they are minted. It remains to be seen on whether they follow the QPR route or the Southampton Way. Either way, I think he would do really well at Swindon and good luck to him.
  4. It's not the quality of the individuals that is so important so much as the quality of the team they make. Nigel knows what he wants and I am sure there are people working hard behind the scenes endeavoring to achieve that aim and it will be all done in private, then announced when the players have signed on the dotted line. We'll just have to wait until September before going off into one.
  5. He's leaving - it's in The Sun so it must be true! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4446264/Lee-Barnard-Ryan-Dickson-and-Jonathan-Forte-on-way-out-of-Southampton.html
  6. Yep, I think that interview tells us he wants to be on the bus, he is wanted on the bus and he is on the bus! Let's hope he stays on...
  7. Apart from the big names already mentioned, Mick Mills and Dave Watson signing for us made me raise an eyebrow. We had quite a number of experienced players then, quite a different approach from NA now.
  8. Gatzaneeja sounds good. Song for Gazzaniga anyone?
  9. Does anyone know how to pronounce his surname correctly? I'd hate to upset him by shouting out the wrong thing!
  10. Tell me Mr. Dalek, how many notable transfers have taken place anywhere so far this summer? When does the window close? Your boundless optimism is an inspiration to us all.
  11. I heard it was £2.5m with Forecast and £1.75 without!
  12. ...and, although the clubs have agreed, the player hasn't. Until that happens another team could step in, so this deal is nowhere near certain. Let's just hope he doesn't get his head turned by a more "glamorous" club nearer to his home.
  13. He is Nigel's version of Jermaine Wright... ...he plays where he's told to and does what the manager asks him to. He won't get any stick from me for doing that.
  14. Such ambitions voiced by Flavio Briatore a year or two ago would have caused a great deal of mirth, I'm sure, but when it comes from Cortese it's hard to doubt his sincerity or determination. I'm just going to enjoy the ride over the next couple of season - the bus is off and gaining momentum.
  15. Let's do for defenders what WHam have done for strikers... On second thoughts, let's get a couple of quality footballers in and improve the squad. Clyne and who else, I wonder?
  16. I shall worry until the transfer window closes - then I shall worry about gelling!
  17. Thanks for the info - it won't get discussed here though, it's actually relevant to the OP and not d*ck waving enough!
  18. I dare say you have never seen him at close quarters - I have and he is a very good driver indeed. I Have witnessed this from the passenger seat as he drove a standard Focus around a test track. Anyone who can execute a perfect 360 degree handbrake turn at 80m.p.h. with three passengers on board earns my respect.
  19. WHam are an irrelevance and of no interest to me except to wind up my golf buddy who originates from E15. I am just glad we have NC and not Gold and Sullivan in charge. I think we have a better chance of getting to the Champions League than WHam because the NC/NA package is much closer than the FatSam/Gold/Sullivan uneasy alliance. (And I suspect we have more money available as and when it's needed.)
  20. Now here's a proper home kit... ...but I guess, as has been pointed out, the club is looking for a new image for a new era. There are media pressures, too. How many times last season did you hear a TV commentator say something like "Oh, those names are almost impossible to read against the stripes." If next season is successful, I don't expect the kit will be an issue.
  21. QPR - I really don't like them, memories of the Milk Cup many years ago and because we did promotion and building a team a better way.
  22. Like so many ejaculations, a little premature...
  23. I like the original caption: "@Footie_Agent listens in on the deal to bring Sergio Aguero to St. Mary’s…."
  24. After all that, who is Biggus Diccus and what have we learned that's new?
  25. Who do you think we'll keep? I'd go for Guly, Frazer, Butts and maybe Chappers as they have contributed to our promotion push. I haven't seen enough of Reeves or Doble to be sure. I know it's ruthless, but I think the rest are expendable.
