Agree...It might be a good idea to wait and see if our lot come back unscathed.

No Boruc in the line up. Have we said they can't use him in the cups?

This is a fairly stunning comparison. http://worldsoccertalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/southampton.jpg

GUARDIAN: Sadio Mané leading the golden generation of Senegal
foxy9143 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Oh great! "I’m sure he will not spend too long at Southampton because there are lots of clubs in Europe who would like to buy him. When Sadio went to Metz, I said he wouldn’t spend very long with them and it was the same when he went to Red Bull. He has the talent to play in the Champions League" -
He's not really going to endear himself to Saints fans by suggesting that Clyne will now have "more options" (of moving to a more 'recognisable' club) once he's played for England.

...or perhaps Sheffield United?

In my view bringing on VW was the key to our win today. We looked under pressure towards the end of the first half. Not sure if Long went off due to the battering he had but it was perfect opportunity to get the Beast into midfield and from then on we totally dominated the game. Great support from Newcastle fans who deserve much better than having Ashley/Pardew destroying their club. Their songs were mainly self deprecating gallows humour but it will be a long trip home and a long hard season for them. Toby is class. Feel a bit sorry for Maya because he hasn't really put a foot wrong this season but he'll be lucky to dislodge the Belgian judging by today's performance. Anyway, I really hope we can sort the Cork situation out. It's the only missing piece of the jigsaw at the moment.

Brilliant summer. Well done Les, Ralph, and Katarina. Just done my bit for the cause by shelling out 140 quid for me and my family's Newcastle tickets.

Sorry, you're right...what I should have said was perhaps he told Levy he would be able to 'persuade' those players to follow him.
-
I am a bit reluctant to say this with 11 hours still to go but....if it is true that Spurs have this summer tried to get MS, JRod and now Clyne, AND if they end up getting none of them, I think this may leave a big chunk of egg on Pochetino's face. I just imagine that when he was having his deceitful and underhand meetings with Levy back in April/May he may well have promised that if he was appointed he would be able to bring the above mentioned players with him. He may have underestimated the resolve of our Board. I hope that is the case anyway but I guess we'll never know until it becomes a footnote in Levy's autobiography justifying why he sacked Poch.

So what happens re Osvaldo. Wasn't Tadir part of the loan deal?

Encouraging indicator from the Guly Interview posted on another thread. OWTS: Whats your thoughts on Morgan’s situation? GDP: I speak to Morgan a lot about life, not really about football, but I think he’s happy to stay and see what happens at the club, for now.

Lots of happy Morgan pics in the gallery

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_football_club_owners When I look down this list I'm delighted with who we have as an owner. Levy? Ashley? Fernandes? The Glazers? No thanks. I think she's great and I hope she gets totally hooked.

I was down near the Chapel end watching the 2 keepers and Watson warming up before the Leverkausen game. (At that time Forster was a rumour but not signed) It was striking to me that Boruc seemed to distance himself from the other two..literally. For example, when Watson was trying to get them to do their sideways steppy things waving their hands above their heads, Davis was in sync with him and communicating but Boruc was just tagging along some way behind doing a different exercise. I realise that top footballers have their own warm up routine but it was more than that. His whole body language seemed to indicate a lack of interest in being coached by Watson. I love Boruc, I think he's a great character and there aren't enough of them around, but he has to try and have a good relationship with his primary coach otherwise it will be a hopeless situation. I guess the fact that Watson and Forster know each other well may make Artur seem isolated, but as loads of people have said, he's a professional footballer and should just work hard in a dignified way rather than getting in a strop.

Despite all the criticism he's been getting, it seems that Les Reed dodged a bullet on this transfer.

Sky Sources: New 5 Year Contract offered to Jay Rodriguez
foxy9143 replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Nice to see Jay Rod sitting with his family at the game yesterday. Perhaps he would be expected to attend anyway but since he had his family with him it may indicate he still feels a certain connection with the club. As to what was in his mind, perhaps he was wondering if he might have done something with one of Mayuka's three chances. -
Is it even definitely MP? Someone elsewhere was doubting that it was due to an apparent tattoo on the person's right arm.
