I would hardly call 2 wins from their last 6 in the league blistering form. A loss in the Champions League as well. They're definitely playing better, but still beatable.

This is what I don't get because him and Eden came from different clubs. Maybe it was a condition Eden put in to the transfer. Seems strange.

I've read in a couple of places that Thorgan Hazard may be headed to us on loan. Didn't get many games last season, I've no idea how good he is.

Full backs aren't meant to sit on the wingers or they would leave too much space to put balls between themselves and the centre backs. I think he's a fine player who will do a decent job in the premier league. Sure, he may struggle against some of the better wingers but so do most full backs, sometimes even Cole, Enrique etc.

Robinson has been awful this season. The Blackburn defence looked better when Bunn was in goal

I'm sorry but that's just completely wrong. As previously mentioned the centreback position is about partnerships and these two complement each other perfectly. Rio does occasionally switch off (not very often anymore) but has plenty of ability and Man Utd always look more solid with him in the team. Without him their defence is slow in the middle and, because of their lack of pace, Vidic, Evans, Brown and O'Shea don't have the same ability to cover. That said I am a massive fan of Vidic and given the choice of any two centrebacks in the league I would take both of them.

Looked to me like the first 2 goals were scored by players he was meant to be marking. Aside from this I thought he was terrible today. His footballing brain isn't quick enough to pick out any incisive passes so it either goes backwards or he hoofs it. He offers little to no protection to the back 4 and so I don't see what he has to offer. Seems we can't rely on kids or experienced players to keep us up.

All this negativity! Yes, you would think we should have won one of the last three but the truth is our position has still improved over these games. Saying we are already down is absolutely ridiculous, just look at the table. Sure it will be a struggle but we are still there. You would think we have to win one of the next two but the teams around us aren't actually doing too well either. We have made up ground and we can do this. First of all, I can't stand his smug grin and would like nothing more to see him taken down a peg or two and as far away from our club as possible. Secondly, when you say "our money" that is also my money so don't jump to conclusions because this royally annoys me. Thirdly, it doesn't look like Lowe is going anywhere anytime soon so my comments are based on the team. It's not their fault if they're not good enough yet. I have seen enough, though, to suggest that more than a couple of them have a bright future ahead and if we can somehow avoid relegation then I think next year will be a little easier. Why does every single thread have to come down to Lowe? Sometimes I just want to support the players that play for mine and your team.

Patterson had fight and got sent off! The truth is that Man U have a cailbre of players a class above ours. It's hard to show these attributes if you can't get near the ball. If you think that our players weren't trying then you are wrong. This is what happens when one team plays a vastly superior team.

There is so much negativity around here! I understand why but let's face facts. We were playing against one of the top 5 teams in the world and we have no money whereas Berbatov cost almost 10 times more than our whole team. We started, due to injuries, without Schneiderlin and Holmes, two of our most impressive outfield performers. Both of our fullbacks are attacking midfielders which especially shown with the space left behind Skacel. I do think that James is quickly improving though. Fair enough he may have struggled at times against Nani but he was isolated and look at how Nicky Shorey struggled for Villa today against a League 2 player. Gillett was decent enough and despite popular opinion I think that if McGoldrick can get all parts of his game going then he is comfortably a championship player. Smith looked like he may create something. I thought McLaggon looks a real prospect, being strong, quick and not without skill. I was only disappointed with Lancashire (clearly not ready yet) and Surman (still injured or just off game?). Patterson made a stupid mistake and was rightly punished. If only we can survive this year then I can't help but feel that we will start to slowly work our way up this league.

I was impressed by McGoldrick today. It was the first time I was convinced that he can make it at this level. I thought he looked like he might create something but I don't think his best position is leading the line. When John came on it also seemed to make Lallana disappear from the game. In the first half the front two did look sharp (especially Lallana who looked like the most skillfull player on the pitch) and with more games they will only get better. It was at the back that we struggled today and I don't think that Saints and McGoldrick are a long way away from scoring a lot more goals.

First game of the season for me. It is a breath of fresh air having a team that you genuinely believe play for the love of the game. Was most impressed by Holmes, Lallana and Cork although I thought Wotton did a very good job as did McGoldrick. John did OK when he came on. Its amazing how the ball sticks to him. Thomas stood out at the start for his questionable distribution but as someone mentioned earlier he started to pass it shorter and markedly improved as a result. A good win which will breed confidence as will consecutive clean sheets. Well done.
