On a cold winter's night, wherever we are in the world, what is wrong with some nostalgia to cheer us up? I think everyone realises we are in a tough situation and things are not what they were. There are plenty of threads pontificating on how to put things right. There is room for one or two looking back on the good old days. Those are the days that made us all Saints fans.

Weymouth? Hah! Has to be Yeovil Town. Of course, they have moved on a bit since having to worry about Weymouth. A couple of years ago it looked like Saints might play Yeovil in the Championship, now we might chase them down through the divisions until we catch up with Weymouth!

As has been pointed out elsewhere, that was a state matter and this country takes very seriously what is a state's responsibility and what is a federal matter. You seem a history buff, there was a civil war over states' rights. Katrina was a total **** up, no doubt, but a lot of responsibility fell on the governor and NO mayor.

He knew the way it worked going in. Its not the popular vote but the electoral college that decides it. As for what happened in Florida, don't hear too many Democrats complaining about the Senate election in Minnesota. There the Democrats have overcome a deficit of 200 or so votes to be up by a similar number after a recount. Mostly through arguments as to which ballot papers should count and which should not, much like Florida.

A great thread which has cheered me up on a day that has, otherwise, been a real downer. Made me a bit homesick though. Only namedropping I have was meeting MLT at the Plymouth game in November - agree a great guy, very patient as my wife struggled to get the camera to work! I was in the Olympic Stadium to witness the highlighted event - one of those incredible sporting moments that you never forget. Over 80,000 roaring as he tore up the track and the stadium rocking as everyone celebrated.
