  1. LOL. That would certainly explain why our defence is so lethargic early on.
  2. same here too
  3. At best. Frankly very disappointed with our ticket office this season already. Won't go into details but they've not covered themselves in glory so far. It's as though we're still in League One.
  4. That explains the "not in my lifetime" banner being paraded on the pitch today. I must have missed that quote. I tend to turn over when old red-face comes on, otherwise I start swearing at the TV far too much.
  5. 30 minutes highlights, on at 11.45 tonight on Sky channel 429. Good for those of us who don't have a DVD of THAT game, mine's a VHS tape, can't remember when I last watched one of those. Might just copy it onto DVD tomorrow.
  6. my fave too. inverse Ajax. nothing else like it out there.
  7. Having been to Akbars in Bradford and Leeds, I can confirm they are quite excellent. Their Masala Fish starter is awesome, as is the Chicken Spinach Balti. In fact, I don't think i've ever had a bad dish with them.
  8. Fantastic description. Sums up the start of the game perfectly
  9. My thoughts exactly. We're 3 points clear with 3 games left. If Wet Sham lose and we win, we'll be 6 points clear with 2 games left, but unlike last year with Plymouth, we won't have a massively superior goal difference, probably only +5/6. It would be great if we did win and Wham lose, as we'd then only need a point from either Middlesbrough or Coventry. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
  10. If it happens, this would suit me perfectly - I'm probably working in Newcastle or Leeds that week, so I'll only be an hour away if it comes to it. I'd have more chance of making it to Boro than Birmingham or Blackpool, or god forbid, Cardiff. Probably wouldn't suit more than about 20 other Saints fans though. Especially with us playing there next Saturday. Certainly don't think we'd sell the full 4,000 they could give us. Exactly. Well said sir. There were Saints fans who couldn't go to Cardiff in 2003 as they had holidays booked for Cup Final day - FFS. If you book holiday during the football season/playoffs/Euros/World Cup, don't start whinging if there are then games you can't make it to. As for people getting married on these dates, it should be illegal.
  11. full "highlights" of their Donny game up now: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17643457 Foul for the first penalty was outside the area, and there was another defender covering, so yellow card and freekick, rather than red and penalty. Second pen was for handball - whacked into the defender from about 2 yards away, hardly intentional. 3rd goal now actually looks like a slam-dunk by Kitson, plus the barge on the Donny keeper a moment earlier should have meant Kitson got a yellow, or possibly 2, one for each offence. In which case he wouldn't have been on the pitch to help with the 4th goal. 4th is probably a foul by Kitson in the build-up to Futacs' shot. That ref probably needs to avoid South Yorkshire for a couple of years. Still, as was pointed out elsewhere, the fact that Pompey can still catch Brizzle means Brizzle have incentive to beat Wham. If this had been a Donny win, then Pompey would be down and Brizzle would only have Coventry to worry about.
  12. Just rang up as our normal ordering person wasn't able to. Sold me 9 tickets in Block 43, which they just opened up this morning. Said I hoped it was the last tickets we'd have to buy off her this season and she laughed.
  13. Is "having a shuffle" a new slang for what I think it is? Knocking one out, clearing the custard, choke the chicken?
  14. Also the Kitson "goal" would have been better suited being score by Michael Jordan - it wasn't even a subtle handball - Kitson barged their keeper and then flicked his hand above his own head to knock the ball in from about 3 feet. There was also a blatant foul on a Donny player in the build-up to the fourth goal (the winner, without which they'd be a point to Brizzle from relegation). Even Steve Claridge called the referee's decisions into question on the FLS last night - said you could take issue with every Pompey goal. Does make you wonder whether TB found a brown envelope down the sofa in the boardroom and passed it to yesterday's ref - allegedly of course.
  15. Hmm, without counting any chickens, if we do go up and play the way we do currently, I can see us getting taken apart by some of the bigger teams, basically anyone who plays with width and pace - Man U, Newcastle, Arsenal etc. Playing the diamond, as we often do, means our fullbacks provide most of the width, but get caught out of position if they go forward too much. IF we do go up, then we'll need better fullbacks, or more likely switch to 4-5-1/4-3-3, which we could do with Lee/Adam either side of Sir Rickie/Billy. Whilst fine for the lower leagues, 4-4-2 is a bit outdated in the top flight these days, whatever Mike Bassett says.
  16. Dan Come visit the Northern Saints facebook page and post on there, there's sure to be someone that can drop you off in Sheffield on their way back north. I should be travelling back to Stockport afterwards, and I'd normally go via Sheffield. And if I'm not going for whatever reason, there's bound to be someone else - there's quite a few of us planning on going. BTW are you the same Dan I gave a lift back from Cardiff? If so, drop me a text and we'll sort something out. Matt
  17. Is this a typo perhaps? The Moyes terrace holds 4,000, and I can't remember any segregation last time, so why sell us only 1,000 for a 4,000 terrace? We might not sell all 4,000 but I can defo see us selling 2500+ if there's a promotion riding on it.
  18. IF we go up, I'm looking forward to 5-8 games an hour from my house: Liverpool Everton Man ure Citeh Where we'll be playing 4-5-1 for a draw for 90 mins. And then where we might have a chance of a win: Stoke And 0-3 of Blackburn Bolton Wigan Bit further afield will be Newcastle and Soonland. However the away fans spot at St James is that high its a ****take, so I'll prob give it a miss. Apart from those, I'll want to do Arsenal for the new ground, possibly Villa and west brom for proper grounds and decent boozers. Think I'll give Spurs, Qpr, Fulham and Chelsea a miss, as I already have one mortgage.
  19. Every week, I screen capture the relevant section of the BBC website, then save the file to my Dropbox account. Then I go on my iPhone and change my lock screen on the phone to the latest screen capture. That way, I can check the current League Table any time I want, and certainly more than the odd 3 or 4 times a day. Sounds like a sad routine I know, but it means I have a history of our league positions all season. IF we go up, I shall publish them somewhere useful, like Flickr.
  20. just seen on the BBC site the Scottish darts legend has died, only 62. reminds me of this:
  21. absolutely. incidentally. Reading have already announced their ST prices for next season - same as this season, regardless of division - http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/SeasonTickets/0,,10306~2614291,00.html
  22. Just put him on ignore. Then you don't have to read his 98% negative contributions. Unless someone else quotes him. It's the way forward.
  23. Not sure that was a pen at the end. Huge numbers of empty seats now in the posh seats - glory hunters leaving early. Bilbao have been excellent. Great example of pass and move, support the player on the ball, give him options. hmm, who does that remind me of?
  24. Walking round Manchester city centre to get my lunch today I thought I was surrounded by a load of Saints fans who'd been on sun beds a lot. Had to go look up on tinterweb who man u were playing in red n white stripes. Great to see an away team at OT play without fear. Most English teams play there cautiously, intimidated by their reputation. 2nd goal looked marginally off, just means fergie will have a good old whinge.
  25. Listening to Dave Merrington's dulcet tones through my tellybox is a bit weird. However it is far preferable to trying to use Saints Player, even if it is free, provided you sign up for the 2 week trial. No buffering issues, no "please wait" messages, no wrong commentary. Did spot that they also had Radio Tees and Radio Notts, along with Five Live. Seem like a strange choice - not covering the Reading/P*mpey game or Hull/Leeds or Derby/Blackpool, which surely have more bearing on the promotion race than Forest/Doncaster. Does anyone know if this is a regular feature - putting local commentaries on the red button? It's certainly better than trying to find dodgy radio streams on tinterweb.
