Saints 1 Manchester Utd 1 - Post Match Reaction
stockportsaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Lol. Great description of our current position. -
This. In my top ten films, easily. Quite brutal in parts, and Helen Mirren in her heyday is f&cking awesome, both as an actor and as "totty". Killer ending too.
-
LOL. Quality. Made I larf

Well that CL 1/4 final won't be happening now, unless Barca put out a team worse than our Sunderland line up in the 2nd leg.

Just found this article in the New Statesman. It is rather long, however it's a good read and lists many blatant instances of police heavy handed behaviour, even downright lies. http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/2014/02/everyones-equal-eyes-law-unless-you-are-football-fan?

Gives Adam a chance to tell Clattenburg that HE'S a jumped up little c*** too. Allegedly.

Agree with every word of the above. The sane and rational people get shouted down by the idiots. As the saying goes: don't bother arguing with an idiot, they've had far more practice than you and will just shout you down. Having said that, to go from wishing saints had got through to the draw v Brighton or Hull to a detailed argument on chaos theory takes some doing. I think Chris Donald must have met Matthew le God at some point in the past, and was inspired to come up with the character Mr Logic:

Both of these - Craven Cottage is a great day out in a decent part of London (i.e not the East End, Croydon or Tottenham), with a reasonable chance of a decent game. And finishing above Man U on the last day, to deny them a Europa League spot would be FaF.
-
Taxi for Moyes, methinks. What price Saints beating Man Ure on the last day to finish above them in 7th place?

FA Cup 5th round draw thread (Sunderland Away)

Great draw - we can beat them if we put out a decent team. With VW back in midfield we'll be less porous. More importantly two of city, arsenal, Chelsea & Liverpool will go out by the 1/4 finals. I wonder how warm the balls were? -

3-3 now. Reckon that's the best result for us. Keeps Everton below us. -
Saints playing for England (and other internationals)

A great assessment of the squad. Totally agree about Clyne & Cork not getting an call-up for the pointless end of season England friendlies. Glenn Johnson is a defensive liability and should at best be a backup right back. During the post-Brazil friendly match hand-wringing on Radio 5, they were talking about how much we missed Wilshere with his ability to get the ball off the back four and move it forward simply. I was shouting at the radio about Jack Cork. Not sure he'd get in the team ahead of Wilshere but he's got to be a better bet than Jack "show me the Etihad money" Rodwell. None of the City ST holders I know (and that's a fair few living up here) rate him at all. Love how Schneiderlin has improved as we've risen through the divisions. Just hope he's still with us when(?) we reach the next League (Europa?).

I had one of them. I can confirm that the pies at Norwich are the best I've had at a football ground. I was veggie at the time (2003), and my option was normally some minging cheese & onion pie that was so bad even Greggs wouldn't serve it, and would cost £2.50 and be so hot you couldn't eat it for ten minutes without burning your tongue. Cue a visit to Norwich in November 2003, on a freezing cold day I was looking forward to Delia's pies selection and I was not disappointed. I chose a Broccoli & Stilton number, and was pleased to find it actually tasted of the promised ingredients, rather than being some undefined scorching hot gloop. These days I've realised what a rip off football food is and very rarely buy anything in or around the ground. I'd rather pay £5-7 for something decent, edible & VFM in the pub 2 hours earlier. Although I did waver at Sunderland recently when I smelt chips & curry sauce outside the ground and had to indulge.

Much as I might agree with your sentiment, the fact is that at least three teams HAVE been in Admin 2 seasons running, and each has had extra large points deductions imposed on it by the Football League: Luton Town 2007-08, still in Admin at start of 2008-09 - 10 points for first admin, plus another 20 for second admin combined with financial irregularities. Bournemouth were originally deducted 10 pts for the 2007–08 season. Having failed to exit administration or to agree to a CVA before the start of the 2008–09 season, they started that season with −17 points. Rotherham were originally deducted 10 pts for the 2007–08 season. Having failed to exit administration or to agree to a CVA before the start of the 2008–09 season, they started that season with −17 points. All available to peruse here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administration_%28British_football%29

It'll be a 17 point deduction if they are in Admin 2 seasons running. That's on top of the 10 point deduction they haven't yet had for the current administration position. So as they look quite likely to relegate themselves without the help of any points deductions, they could end up in League 2 (Division 4 if we give it it's proper name) next season starting with either -10, -17, or possibly -27. What price Eastleigh being above them in the football pyramid in 3 years time?

when I was a kid, at every Sunday lunch for many years my Dad would play Brubeck to educate our small ears into enjoying jazz. Some purists might sniff at his populist music but its still my favourite jazz to listen to over Coltrane or Davis, brilliant though they both are. I don't have to work too hard to listen to Brunswick, whereas some more purist stuff you really have to be in the right mood to listen to, and they can take a lot of effort to enjoy.

Still working for me. When I say "working", I mean, as sh1t as ever, but it's up & running. Perhaps the OP isn't on a super-duper connection speed. Anything less than 1.5 Meg connection and you might as well not bother, there's that much cr@p on the site so it takes ages to load. Anyone interested in all the cookies/3rd party content issues on the web at the moment, try installing Ghostery (from Ghostery.com) in either Firefox or Chrome (it doesn't work in IE but then IE is gash anyway). It shows you all the 3rd party content providers as you visit the page, and lets you block them if you want. The OS is bad, but then try the Echo website - I reckon there's content from 25 different providers on there.

I'm afraid I had to vote for Suzie Templeton over MLT. Le Tiss is from Guernsey, whereas Suzie is from Romsey and went to Taunton's College (where I knew her and had a bit of a crush, the real reason for voting for her). Strange voting system, you get two votes, but for two separate lists.

Very good, did you make that one up yourself?
