A clear example of tokenism and now cronyism. I'm pretty sure he was the first black ex-player to become a mainstream pundit. There are plenty of black ex-players around now who can string together a more meaningful sentence than Crooks. I always found Leroy Rosenior very astute on the Football League Show, but I guess he's not high profile enough.

Anyone know anyone involved in this? http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/14309442.Groom_speaks_out_after_stag_party_s__rowdy__behaviour_causes_flight_to_make_emergency_landing/ Was on a stag do to Budapest myself a few years ago. 4 hour flight delay lead to excessive drink consumption amongst our party and others. I was surprised we were allowed to board, unlike another group of stags who were thrown out of the boarding queue before the flight even took off. I believe it was because one of them had started racially abusing some muslims who were quietly minding their own business, also waiting to board the same flight.

Pretty sure that railway is still there, although it was shut for the winter last time I was in that park - know as Rubberside Park when I was a teenager

Consensus on MOTD was that it should have been a penalty for the foul on Austin/handball, and that the ref had missed the kick by the Chelsea defender (Bennett?)

During the 2012 Olympics I went to the GB v Senegal match at Old Trafford. I'd been working in London all week, got the train up at 5ish, dumped my bags at Piccadilly station, and made it on the tram to Old Trafford 15 minutes into the game. Found my seat in the upper tier of the Stretford End, with two empty seats to my right. The missing occupants soon returned from the bar and we got chatting. One was a Man U fan from London, the other was a Pompey fan. To be fair he took it well, considering this was two months after our teams left the Championship in opposite directions. I kept it civilised, as there were many families and kids around us.

Sme here. Guess that's probably to do with Bournemouth rather than saints TO.

Anyone received their tickets for this yet? Or even know if they've been posted out?

This. Very much this. Definitely my favourite Saints season ever. Winning nearly every week. Scored lots of goals. Never out of the top three. Just annoyed that ***t Ken bates was at Leeds at the time of the game in the video, as I refused to pay £38 (iirc) to watch a game in the championship, so stayed at home and watched it on telly. By about 70 minutes, I started to think it was one of those days where it wouldn't go in for Leeds, and that we were going to nick the three points. I was teaching a course in Leeds the following week, had some Leeds fans on the course, who were quite sound. I apologised to them for stealing the points. Kelvin is a lovely man. I had the pleasure of meeting him after I won his shirt in the text vote for MOTM against Brighton when he saved the penalty in the league one promotion season, which earned us a point as we couldn't score in a brothel that night.

It was. I was there. Not a big fan of it. Hope we manage to get a different one going. Some were also singing "Manchester's a sh1t-hole, I want to go home" This is wrong on three levels: 1) Manchester is quite definitely not a sh1t-hole - it's a pretty awesome place to live and work, and there's a lot going on all the time. 2) old Trafford isn't in Manchester - it's on the border of Trafford and Salford. City fans take great delight in pointing out that they're the only club in Manchester proper. 3) it doesn't scan -Manchester has one too many syllables to fit - Salford or Trafford would do the job much better, and wind up the Man U fans who don't enjoy what Man City jibes about being the only club in Manchester.

"Aplomb" good luck with getting that sung... Me, I like the Koeman's party one, simple lyrics, good tune, and it praises the manager and two players at the same time.

Football Focus have an interview with him tomorrow at 12.00. Have set it to record as I'll be in the pub for pre-match ales by then.

Well I think we only got around 600 for Midtjylland, whereas the allocation for AFCB should be 2000, as long as Saints go for the bigger allocation. I hope they do - I can definitely see us taking 2000 there, even on a week night in March. When did we last play there competitively? - Answering my own question, I checked, according to: http://www.soccerbase.com/teams/head_to_head.sd?team_id=2471&team2_id=359 We played them in League One 5 years ago, when Oscar Gobern had his comedy sending off, then before that back in 87, before that it's the 60s - so twice in 55 years. So Ticket Office, if you're reading this, please take the bigger allocation.
-
Anyone have any idea when tickets for this are likely to go on sale? Just been on the AFCB website (looked remarkably similar to ours, except for a deeper shade of red), they're puuting home tickets on sale tomorrow (20th). Also, is it likely they'll make this a "bubble" game, as they did with Pompey? I know it's not much of a rivalry for us, but it is for them, and I seem to recall some minor aggro at the home game.

I'd recommend drinking in the city centre for this one. Then catch the Metrolink (tram) to the Old Trafford cricket ground and walk the 10 minutes to the football ground, or a special train from Piccadilly/Oxford Road stations direct to the football ground. If there's enough of you, a taxi from city centre to near the ground will cost around £7-10. There are pubs near the ground, but they're mostly home fans only, and those that aren't are pretty grim places to drink. The city centre offers a much nicer choice of bars and pubs. Also this Saturday is the Manchester Beer Festival at G-Mex/Central, which is right next to a tram stop on the Old Trafford lines. http://mancbeerfest.uk/ - advance tickets are now sold out, but there will be tickets on the day. £4 in, and the beers at beer festivals are normally so cheap you make your entry fee back after about 3 pints.

Don't need long arms to touch that - we're 10th now. Apparently not a single shot on target from the Baggies.

Tried Solent online but they're at the p!mpey match. Then I found the radio London stream. Won't get Dave Merrington's normal pearls of wisdom.

Have the reigning champions ever been relegated, or come close to it? If they lose tonight Chelsea will be 1 point clear of the bottom 3

This. Very much this. A pleasure to watch that game, with the added bonus of seeing them out-football Man Ure. And with an ex-saint and still Saints fan in Bitterne Park's own Andrew Surman.

Security at St Mary's in light of the Paris attacks
stockportsaint replied to Johnny Bognor's topic in The Saints
yup - although the stewards/police worked out who it was and he was led away shortly after - bit surprised as you'd expect the away fans to be searched more thoroughly (I certainly get searched thoroughly at most away games.) -
See how many empty Arsenal seats 10 minutes before the end of their Derby.

If we finished fourth in the CL I know it would give me at least a semi. -

Leeds are ruining their own Manager Of The Month competition again this season. I was 8 years old in 1975 - it's the first European Cup Final I remember watching. I remember feeling angry at the injustice they received that night but not knowing why, being too young to really understand. Watching it back on YouTube confirms what I remember, with 40 extra years of understanding. Ridsdale was an arrogant & incompetent ****, I have little sympathy for their current plight. No one has a divine right to be in the top flight - Liverpool were a second division team in the 60s, Forest were 3rd division until Derby County's board of idiots sacked Clough and he gave Forest their 15 years in the sun, unlikely to ever be repeated. Chelsea spent much of the eighties in the second division, and we all know how long Man U went without winning the title before Lord Ferg came along. Nothing lasts forever. -
It's a spoof Big Sam account on Twitter, Consistently hilarious. Not to be taken seriously.

Doubt Big Sam will be there long if this is to be believed: notBigSam – @TheBig_Sam The shrooms are starting to wear off. Why the f&@? am I in Sunderland?
