  1. Probably not, but as it happened over a mile from the ground, it's probably deemed as not being "football-related". We all know that it was Millwall kicking off in a busy pub, but any arrests there would not be categorised as football-related as it happened away from the ground. In the same way that any arrests in any city centre boozer following an argument between two Saintsweb forum posters about whether Seaborne is sh*t or not wouldn't be classified as football-related.
  2. I must disagree. Up north, the word clunge is used regularly, interchanged with flange. I certainly knew and used the clunge word over 10 years ago. Gash is also used a lot, but not always as an alternative to clunge, particularly in Merseyside, often "gash" means rubbish/sh*t etc. As in: "did you watch the match last night? - that Traore was gash, wasn't he?"
  3. Agreed. Unless it's down to Leicester not sending the tickets to SFC.
  4. Hmm, defo a red. Seemed to leave his foot in there to hurt the guy on purpose. Will prob. be a 3 match ban.
  5. Quite simple really. When someone close to us dies, we feel a biological urge to reproduce in order to top the population numbers back up again. A quick google of "funeral sex" found this: http://www.viralclip.com/videos/1043/ - very funny, particularly as it's played completely straight. 7. Apparently the Met have been warning Govt ministers for a year and more that this was on the cards. This tweeter pic sums up Cameron's probable thoughts: ++ BREAKING NEWS ++ : Prime Minister, David Cameron, releases emergency response to #LondonRiots http://twitpic.com/633c2d
  8. oh no they don't

  10. That is absolute genius. My faves were Caroline_128 - third last woman, and the oldish woman with the random added Batman.

  12. I never felt the need to ignore Deppo, although I've used this function on certain scottish/austrian posters who bored me with their constant negativity. One accusation that could certainly not be levelled at Deppo was that of negativity. More often than not his posts made me laugh like a drain with his off the wall humour, which was sometimes at a complete tangent to the main thread, but nowhere as annoying as the constant negativity from unnamed far flung posters. I think I might have to start a thread to list all my favourite Deppo posts, the one that springs to mind was his very creative idea to play 4-sided playoff games. The other night they showed Good Morning Vietnam on one of the digital channels (Film Four IIRC?), and Deppo reminds me of Adrian Cronauer (Robin Williams), with the Admins as the stickler for military protocol played by J.T. Walsh (the one described by Cronauer as being "in more dire need of a blow job than any white man alive") Looking back through this thread, there are far more messages questioning/criticising his ban than supporting it, i'd hazard a guess at 80/20 in support of Deppo. If this is representative of the board users as a whole, I'd say the admins are not really reading the mood of the board as a whole very well. The quality of debate has been in decline on here for a while, and this kind of unreasonable/unwarranted banning might well signal the beginning of the end for this message board. It certainly makes me wonder whether to bother with my £5 renewal when it comes up. The rules certainly don't feel very "grown up", as Wurzel puts it. I'd suggest a poll on whether Deppo's ban is warranted or draconian, but I fear it might well just be locked very quickly.
  13. That sounds absolutely mental. Is this game played with just one ball, or could it be a candidate for a true multiball system?
  14. indeed. plus he's a diving cheating ***t rumour i heard off a citeh sth i work with: City to give Everton £20M + Wayne Bridge for Leighton Baines. Also reckons they'll be in for Bale for about £40M - shame about that sell-on clause being cashed in for Mr Forecast.
  15. No debate there, Hammers have massive debts. Mind you, Birmingham will have the distraction of the Europa League. Were Millwall the last team to be in Europe in the Championship?
  16. If Birmingham go down, so will Kevin Philips On a separate note, Bridgey is now a member of the strange club of players who've won the title (Chelsea) and been relegated (Hammers) (not necessarily with the same club). Any others spring to mind?
  17. Went there on a grim sunday in November the day after we played Norwich back in the Prem. to be fair it was a cold grey winter day, so anywhere would be grim on a day like that. However we tried to find something to do but it was all shut except one amusement arcade and a restaurant that hadn't seen a customer in a while. we decided to get the hell out of Dodge and got lunch at a Little Chef rather than eat in a place that hadn't practiced cooking in months, by the look of it.
  18. Spot on on the Guly corners - from now on he should only deliver corners from the left flank - his outswingers were pathetic - never beat the first man. I've always been of the opinion that the best corners are inswingers, not least down to the possibility of a direct goal from one - Le Tiss and Dodd spring to mind. If you want to visit a town more desperate than Rochdale, try Great Yarmouth in November - the only "great" thing about it is the A47 westbound.
  19. Are you on commission for the ticket office? Don't think we've had a sell out since the Burnley game where they relegated us and Clarke "Countdown" Carlisle broke Paul Wotton's jaw. We might just sell out Walsall, bu I don't see us selling out before then
  20. After tonight's win at the Daggers, they only need another 9 points max to go up, assuming we & Huddersfield don't drop any points. Since they have 4 games before we play them, and we have 5, it's quite likely they'll be promoted before they play them, and might just take their foot off the gas. However, they currently only need 13 points to secure the title, so they probably won't.
  21. It's a joke that it got moved and now maybe none of the three players will play for their countries. However it does give us the advantage that Morgan might be back fit by then (very little news around his state of fitness). Plus as mentioned earlier in the thread AOC should be available rather than playing for the U-19s. And even if Morgan isn't back by then, as far as central midfield goes, it reduces the number of games Hammond and Chaplow have to play before the yellow card amnesty cut-off from 5 to 4 - the cut-off is the 2nd Sunday in April (10th), and they're both on 7 yellow cards, if either reaches 10, they get an automatic 2 match ban. So we need both of them to get no more than 2 bookings from Charlton home & away, MK Dons home and Orient away. Plus we'll have Gobern back for the Charlton home game, which should take the pressure off them a little. Finally, since we'll be playing our last away game on a bank holiday Monday, we should get a big following down there, certainly more of us Northern Saints are likely to make the long trip southwest. The only down side, as others have said, is that it's quite likely now that they could be down by then, and relegated teams often play without fear and improve their results - certainly remember Charlton improving once relegated 2 seasons ago when we went down with them.
  22. This site makes pretty good reading at the mo too: http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/runin.html So long as you look at the "Season Form" column, and ignore the "recent form" column. On Season form, we beat Posh to 2nd spot by 0.8 points, which would be interesting if it actually happened. On recent form, we end up 3rd to Posh by 3 points, playing Franchis FC in the playoffs, then if we win, the winner of Hudds/Orient at Old Trafford, with Bompey finishing 7th.
  23. Pretty fair assessment - at this stage of the season results matter far more than performances. Only played well for about 20 minutes early in the 2nd half, but a few moments of quality were enough to win it. Watching on TV (unfortunately sober as recovering from a 'flu bug) it looked as though Lallana spent a lot of time away from the left flank - Harding was very often the "out ball" on the left flank. It also seemed to me that Harding gets forward and supports his winger much more than Butterfield does. Those little runs that the overlapping fullbacks do help the winger if he decides to cut inside, as it draws one of their opposing defenders away from the winger. It was quite noticeable that both Lallana and Chamberlain were up against 2 men most of the times they got the ball in the opposition half, at least until Wednesday had to start chasing the game. It was also noticeable that Chamberlain didn't get Butterfield overlapping him any where near as often, and he ended up doing it by himself, to be fair he nearly scored a belter in the 2nd half. It also seemed to me that with with Gobern out for another 2 games and therefore no natural replacement for either of them on the bench, Chaplow and particularly Hammond put themselves about considerably less than normal in terms of closing down opposition players. If I'm right in my understanding they are both close (3 bookings to be precise) to a 2 match ban, and they are both on a tightrope until the 2nd Sunday in April, when the amnesty kicks in. According to the Football League site they are both on 7 yellows and Saints have 4 games between now and the amnesty date. So they need to ensure they pick up no more than 2 yellows each in the next 4 games, although Gobern will be available again for the last 2 games before the amnesty. I know there has been much speculation about Saints signing an "emergency loan" Central Midfielder, possibly Brian Howard. What's the realistic likelihood of getting someone in, and if not, what options do we have in central midfield? Could we put Dickson in there? Or Butterfield with Richardson going to right back? Looks like Schneiderlin is out for some time, if not the rest of the season. The OS lists Callum McNish as a central midfielder, anyone seen him play and able to say whether he could slot into Hammond's/Chaplow's boots? Central midfield is the engine of the team, and I fear that if we don't have options there it will hamper our charge for the line. http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Discipline/0,,10794~201010280~25,00.html
  24. Well spotted - I just rewound SSN to confirm - it was there behind Gary "cheery" Megson too, so it's been put on both interview boards.
  25. My thoughts exactly. Main reason I bought this season's shirt (twice - home and away) is the lack of a sponsor's name/logo. Seriously underwhelmed - was expecting a "household name" according to all the Cortese-hype.
