I remember commenting during the W Ham away fixture that he is on the periphery of the match and doesn't contribute enough. Since then I believe his influence has grown the extent that he is a deffo starter. I think this has been assisted by moving to a more central role. If we are to become a 50% home grown club, we are going to have to allow young players to develop within the first team. That may well cost us points. The big money clubs don't take that risk. I like our model more.

Someones misread that contract clause. Says he must put in 15 mins effort when he plays.

The way the club conducts it's transfer business is awesome. As far as possible things are done in private and wrapped up quickly. Saints sign a promising young keeper and cut out some dead wood at the same time. Fantastic. So if you hear a encouraging rumour, don't spread it, you may contribute to scuppering the deal !!!

Seen elsewhere. Killers tune What's that comin over the hill, Is it the Taxman, is it the Taxman. Repeat till exhausted.

Just letting the good people know. No need for you to complicate matters.

Warning: The Market Porter don't like anyone wearing footy colours. Refused entry on that basis after the last M'Wall match.

He's surely a luxury player. Good job we can afford a bit of luxury in the team. I much prefer him up front where his skills will often lead to goals and his lack of workrate doesn't show up as much.

In line with reports in the national press. It's big club syndrome. Every week in the prem, win or lose, we were "lowly" or "struggling" Saints.

Nigel Adkins......best manager we've had since Ted Bates?
The Angel Gabriel replied to Kaiser Soze's topic in The Saints
I'd say very highly placed in the "Best motivator" category. Other contenders would be Hoddle, Lawrie Mac and Wee Gordon Strachan Let's have a vote? -
Absolutely. He played one short pass in 2nd half and gave the ball away. Must iron out these errors before we consider permy status

Or ........ I have a brother. He had a terrible accident. Many thought he wouldn't survive and abandoned him. I stuck with him; he's my brother after all and irreplaceable. Then a Swiss doctor came into our lives with a cure. With the right management my brother will make a full recovery. I'm so proud and grateful. Brings a lump to your throat innit

Should we try to win the FA Cup?
The Angel Gabriel replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
This. This squad will have been redeveloped several times over before we'll be FA Cup contenders. Nice that's the intention though. -
We will need a replacement winger if Alex goes. Punch isn't a winger. Looked so much better in the middle. Maybe the reason for the loan was Punch rocking the boat by complaining about being played on the wing. He was right.

Made a big difference with some good crosses. Unfortunately we can't expect a long run in the side as with his track record he could pick up an injury during the warm up !! I'd like Puch to start in the middle with Hammond giving way. When we saw him palying for MK Wimbledon in that role he gave our defence all sorts of problems.

My prediction league shows us, Charlton and Huddersfield all on 78 points, with Charlton missing out. It's easy!

They are not so young. If the right offers were presented to Fonte, Schneiderlin, Lallana, Lambert and Puncheon, they might well fancy a go in a higher level of football. I for one do not believe that any of them will demonstrate loyalty to the Saints if we're still in Div 3 and the right offer is made. Then there's Pulis of course. What would we do without him?
-
But if some of those players are playing well and attract offers from Championship or Prem, they are likely to accept. That'll bugger up plans for next season. If this happens, the answer should not be to sack AP. I think NC is sensible enough to realise that.

Cortesse's and Markus's reaction last night
The Angel Gabriel replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Our good fortune in being bought by (saved by) Markus Liebherr and further good fortune in having him appoint Nichola Cortesse and even more good fortune in them appointing Alan Pardew and crew, is massively hightened by the reality that we could be supporting a newly formed Southampton AFC at the mo. Any disgruntled fans wanting to criticise should just think back to our situation just a few months ago. Fitzhugh is exempted as he's just trying to qualify as an angry old fella. -
..... still 2 days to go. Might have a few more signings by then. Strangers in red n white shirts if we're not careful. Hope their shirt names are printed in big letters !! We'll be the ones shouting "Whoooooo" when they announce the team.

If we draw we will go above Leeds in the 6 game form league. If we win and Charlton draw or loose we will go top of the form league. Better had win then. Pards pre-match chat sorted. COYR

Is it a lack of ambition or a desire to avoid disappointment that makes some downplay our chances of promotion? This seasons initial targets would have been to recover from -10 points, establish a competitive team and rebuild the club infrastructure. I'd say the club are well ahead of schedule. Our performances and results have improved continuously. Carry that on and we'll be in the play-offs. I can't see anything unrealistic with revising the seasons targets to include promotion a year ahead of schedule.

Buying and selling players is surely part and parcel of modern football. Playing in the Premiership, or better still, one of the few clubs that can realistically challenge for honours must be attractive to professional players. More commonly, taking opportunities to make as much money as possible is an understandable driver. Both of these factors will result in player moves. Our position in the league means that our best players will attract offers and may well leave. How minted the owner is will influence the selling price but is unlikely to stop the best players from going. Club loyalty is a very rare commodity in modern football. That's why us fans only support the club shirt rather than the mersenaries that wear them.

letter to shareholders from Begbies
The Angel Gabriel replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
I lost £500. I bought my shares so I could could play a direct part at the EGM called to get rid of Lowe. Gutted when the slimey git resigned with a week to go. All's well that ends well though. No regrets.
