Nah, those old "short shorts" were no more restricting than boxer shorts. In fact your legs had coomplete freedom. when baggy shorts came in I always thought how much of a pain it must be having them flapping around your legs when running or stretching, let alone having cheating bastards grab them to hold you back. Interesting that in rugby they have moved to tight kit from baggy so as to be more streamlined and less easily grabbed.
  2. Age 57. Born & raised in Alton and have lived back there since early 1990s. Played against Trevor Hebberd in Alton Boys League circa 1971. First game away at Spurs 1966 - lost 5-3 but thrilling. First home game (I think) 3-2 v ManCity 1967. Future Mrs StOat's first home game 1-1 v ManU 1974 (both relegated). Fantastic pre-match punch-up in stands and all over the pitch - OB with dogs everywhere - great view of it all from chocco box. She didn't come again! Lived away from Hants for 20 years from mid 1970s, but saw the odd great match: 1-0 v Leeds League Cup semi 1979 (most electric atmosphere I ever experienced at the Dell), promotion at Orient away 1978, bonfires on the Plough Lane terrace late 1980s. STH since 1995, Dell West Stand/Kingsland.
  3. Oi! Many more Saints than Pompey fans around Alton (as opposd to the pikey Bordon and Petersfield further east). A lot to do with the fact that in the old days there was a direct train from Alton to Soton (now the Watercress steam line) that us kids used to catch to see Saints. Must have been the Skate pikeys from Bordon who nickerd those stones - there's a lot of it about!
  4. First post but long time lurker. I wrote to the club about the provocative and intrusive filming by the police, and received this letter from Mr Cortese this morning: "Thank you for taking the time to write to me regarding your unpleasant match day experience last Saturday. I was disappointed to learn that the police were filming supporters in such a way that it caused distress. The Head of Safety and Security has been briefed about your letter and has been informed to work with the police to ensure this situation does not arise again. The match day experience of supporters is very important to the Club and I appreciate you raising this matter with me. I hope this letter gives you the reassurance that you need so that you continue to attend matches at St Mary's Stadium. Best regards Yours sincerely Nicola Cortese" Encouragingly the sensible businessman NC sees no point in the stupid OB ****ing off his customers. Let's see if the OB backs off.
