  1. In the Northam once there was an Irish bloke who started shouting about Rory delap, saints and the Irish. Was obviously a few years ago now, but it went something like: (in a thick Irish accent) "come on saints, come on Rory, come on the Irish, I'm a f**king paddy and I'm proud of it, come on saints, come on the Irish, come on Rory"!!!. It really was very odd and he did it a few times during the course of the game. My mate who was with me at the game still occassionally refers to Saints as "the Irish", such was his amusement that day.
  2. Ive done the best man job twice (for my Brother and my best mate) and each time I found it easiest to do my stories about the groom in a rough date order - start with something from when he was young, and work your way up to the present day. I didnt say anthing about the bridesmaids, I think thats the groom's job when he gives them a present - just rememebr to say the bride looked lovely and toast the happy couple at the end of the speech. Whatever dont open with the line that my mother in law witnessed once which was "when Dave (i forget the grooms actual name) asked me to be his best man, I thought "you f**king c**t" That was a crowd pleaser so I'm told, especially for the toddlers in the room!!!
  3. Paul Hart? I think I'd rather have Tony Hart, with Morph running the U21's....
  4. What about home advantage though? If Liverpool had won it in extra time, Athletico could have argued "its not fair, they got to play 120 minutes on their own ground, and we only got 90 on ours."
  5. On the whole I've been pretty impressed with him - in most of the games I have seen him in he has either scored, or created a goal for someone else. Even against Charlton where I thought he had one of his more frustrating days, he set up the winner - can't really argue with that. He has a lot of skill, and some pace - a combination which most defenders (certainly in this league) can't cope with. All I would say to him (if I had the chance) would be that he doesnt need to show us how skilful/talented he is EVERY time he gets the ball. Sometimes the simple ball is the best option, and sometimes you can cross it without beating the man in front of you. On the whole though, very pleased with his signing and as others have said, he should only get better as he matures.
  6. Went To Sharm in July 2005. Everyone on the trip (8 of us) got the terrible s*its at some stage (luckily mine JUST waited until I got home) and a day before we were due to go home a couple of bombs went off rather too close to comfort. Not a pleasant end to proceedings but we were a lot luckier than some. Im probably an unfair representative of things out there but I wont ever be going back thats for sure!!! as well as ice and salads, apparently it is the money that spreads a lot of the stomach bugs out there. a lot of it is so old and been through so many hands that its there where you often pick up the squits - so i heard anyway.
  7. Used to come up against Wade Elliot in the tyro league. He was the stand out player in an average Mansbridge side - and he was playing a year above his age group as well. He was a good player, but a ****y little gobby one as well!!! We had a vey similar player in our team and they clashed EVERY time we played them.
  8. I can remember Steve Baker getting booed when his was being named as our sub - before the game!!! Booing has been around for donkeys years - I really dont know why some people on this forum seem to think its only just been invented.....
