Oh how everyone's laughing....

Couldn't agree more, spot on.

I hope not Ponty. Plenty of posters have assured us he will bag 20+ goals this season.

Same old SunnyDunce, backed into a corner and let's fly with childish and personal insults. He really is a silly little lonely man bless him. True to form though I'll give him that. His latest strategy is to put the blame of the clubs situation in the hands of the fans. You couldn't make it up. Ciao Troll.

Poll : Adam Hammill Or Bradley Wright Philips On The Wing
Greenridge replied to St Marco's topic in The Saints
At which point in a players career do you consider he should reach his potential. At 23 he's not young (in footballing terms) and has had a few years experience in the leagues with well over a 100 league games so do you think we'll be waiting much longer? -
Apologies to the people who were sceptical and or negative

Why be so defensive SOG? It's a forum and people are entitled to their opinions, afterall we are all SFC supporters so all views count. As for referring to Pearson then you can do what you like with stats so I'll throw that he only lost 4 games in his tenure and with a team he had little influence in for the first few games before managing to bring in a few needy loanees. Jan's had the whole preseason and alledgedly this is his team so the comparison looks even more favourably towards Pearson. It's even been suggested by some that it is now the fans fault that we are struggling. Not the team, or the manager, or one of the Chairmen or Board members or even backroom staff but no it's the fans -

If this is true it's somewhat ironic after the mutterings from the club regarding the poor attititude of some of the senior players that were disposed of. Plenty of leaks to that effect in any case or was that just a smokescreen to justify their departure. -
That's brightened up a dull start to the working week. Quality.

I guess he was starting to believe the hype when the Club bigged him up in pre-season. It also seems a fair majority on here caught the bug as well. He's a legend in his own half-time.

You are hypothesising are you not? It's all very well to make a short term 'financial' decision on a few £K's however if the long term is relegation it's not a very wise decision I'm sure you'll agree. Saga was treated abysmally last year and his few appearances reflected that. He's showed, with the right leadership he's a quality, experienced and proven goalscorer. Attributes we are found so wanting.

Agree with your summation there TG. At this moment in time only 2 or 3 (Lancashire and Lallana, possibly Thomson) are of the required standard and this was recognised by previous managers yet we have a team that contains 6 or 7 each game. If we truly can produce a full team of graduates that can make the grade then Rupert is on to a real money spinner. Reality is though that only a very small percentage make the step up. Yes it's early days and yes there is a learning curve but these 'boys' have been playing football for 10 years plus and at a decent level for the last two or three years, they should have done much of their learning by now. The CCC is no doubt different to what they're used to but if they're good enough they'll adapt and prosper, if they're not then they won't make the grade.

I recall a certain group of posters continually bringing up Pearsons record. I wonder if the same group will attach the same level of importance to statistics in Jans case. Take into account Pearon took over a team (not 'his' team) in freefall and managed to turn them around whereas we are led to believe this is Jan's team and one that he had a whole pre-season with. The reality is is that he's probably doing 'ok' with the team he's got and other than the selection questions of Sunday at the back then I'm not sure he's done a huge amount wrong.

Do you really think fans of SFC act in any different way to those of the other 92 league clubs? No, I don't think so. All Chairman will come in for 'stick' at some point in time if the teams are not performing. It's life. -
Why is it 'pie in the sky'? We have some who the club have tried to force out and whilst they are not our saviours they could perform a stop-gap where we need it - especially if they are to remain on the books for the immediate future. The loan window will also give us access to these type of players. We might not want the extra burden of their wages but I'm sure we don't want to be in the bottom 3 come the end of the season either. Why was Wooton not at centre-half today? On the radio a couple of weeks ago Nicky Banger was saying he couldn't understand why Wooton was being touted as a midfielder as he played every game at Plymouth (when Banger was there) as a centre-half. There were plenty of options for midfielders but the bare bones at the back.

Fully agree. We somehow need to bite the bullett and blend in some experience to tread water and nick a few points and get up the league. Total football is fine but this is a results orientated business. Relegation would be a catastrophic and unthinkable outcome for SFC. Yes it's early days but the brakes need applying PDQ.

Daily Echo - LALLANA Fulham bid rejected...SPURS INTEREST TOO

The length of the outstanding contract when a player is sold has a significant impact on the selling price of that player. It's therefore a prudent and sensible strategy by the Club. -

Very good point Nick. I don't think there is a witch-hunt going on here as some like to suggest I just feel people are making observations on the situation as they see it. Again, none of us are armed with the full facts so it's very difficult to comment with absolute certainty. He did however have an opportunity to help the police by providing names of the uncaught offenders and he didn't take it. It's also worth remembering that a number of people will have reviewed the case (several levels of increasing seniority within the police force and the Crown Prosecution Service) and all of which felt there was a case to answer. It was a lone magistrate who decided there wasn't.

Nick why do you take things so personally? I'm not sure who referred to you as a numpty but I'm sure it wasn't malicous. Opinions expressed on this forum are just that - opinions. They are, for the most part, based on limited knowledge of the actual facts of the matter in hand. We often only hear one side of the story and that of course is from the Club and they will want to show themselves in a positive light. In the same way when clubs and managers go their own ways through 'mutual consent' it's often the case that this is not really fact but gives both parties a no-blame way out of the situation. I'm sure we're all worldy-wise enough to acknowledge that there is some artistic license to what is written on the OS with reference to players leaving. -
I'm sure there are some examples of it working here in the UK but I'll be damned if I can think of one. Anyone have any suggestions?

Honour amongst thieves. You can dress this up anyway people want and yes, in the eyes of the law there was insufficient evidence to proceed despite the police and CPS believing there was. Of course he knew exactly what was going on. He can distance himself on a technicality but it's only that.

Don't think he is. It's quite a likely scenario (unfortunately). -
Aiding and abetting?

I believe there's some connection between him and Daniel Cousin who just transferred from Rangers to Hull.
