  1. Yes, more recently, Monkey Dust, Nathan Barley, Nighty Night etc have possibly fallen foul of this too.
  2. Do you want some KRG?
  3. Yes, but as regards capacity-to-give-informed-consent-under-the-influence-of-intoxicants, what is the legal definition of ‘capacity’, and how is it measured? At what legally defined point does capacity become incapacity? These are rhetorical questions, btw. Every right-minded person will use their own judgement and set their own limits as regards informed-consent-and-intoxicants; but the legal viewpoint regarding this issue is too vague, imo – although how best to clarify it, I’ve no idea.
  4. What a thoroughly embarrassing and depressing article.
  5. Speaking very much as a layman, it appears to me that the judicial position on intoxication-and-informed-consent has been confused by the 2007 Appeal Court Ruling on R v Bree. http://www.lawteacher.net/criminal-law/cases/criminallawcases.php http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1546789/Drunk-women-can-consent-to-sex-judges-rule.html
  6. No, I didn’t know that either. I remember Peter Osgood castigating Saints’ fans on the west stand terraces who were giving Chatterley some terrible stick. Ossie definitely wasn’t happy about it … but, then again, I can’t imagine too many players are happy to hear one of their team-mates being jeered by their own supporters.
  7. I remember Fred Kemp and Hugh Fisher getting stick from various sections of the crowd back in the late 60s / early 70s. I also recall ‘Davies Out Gilchrist In’ graffiti painted on a wall along Milton Road for several weeks, referring, of course, to the legend that is Ron Davies. Sadly, very few players are immune from becoming scapegoats at some point in their careers; but, as already mentioned by the OP, I struggle to recall any Saints' player getting worse stick than Lew Chatterley.
  8. I see Ottery St Mary Is missed more than Tokes
  9. I’m very pleased with this news – Yoshida is an important member of the squad, a very decent defender, and has an excellent attitude, imo.
  10. so word has it.
  11. You’re a proper Miss Marples you are, Bletch.
  12. I’d like to thank the 6 patients (well, 5 actually) of the Saintsweb-Care-in-the-Community who voted for me.
  13. Ban nasty habits All nuns to be naked.
  14. And now you better believe us. Wanyama was a colossus on that pitch.
  15. I usually come back from matches fairly hoarse, but I certainly don’t join in with every song. I’m not interested in the über-fan debate: each to his own, I say. However, the highlighted part of your post reminds me a bit of something that happened in the 70s. Back then, I travelled to and from matches on the Red Funnel ferry. A chap I’d gone to the same school with, invariably, travelled on the same ferry. Try as I might to avoid him, he usually tracked me down and plonked himself next to me, which was unfortunate, because, to put it politely, he was a ****ing nutcase. His idea of ‘supporting the lads’ was to get into a ruck with as many opposition supporters as possible. He would mock me for simply wanting to watch a game of football, and say that I wasn’t ‘a proper supporter like wot he was’. Funnily enough, though, the only Saints’ player he could actually name was Mick Channon. Anyway, one day I was on the ferry back from the match, and, as usual, he turned up with bloodied knuckles, swollen eye and split lip, and, as usual, proceeded to spend the next half-hour giving me rhyme-and-verse of his day ‘supporting the lads’. Eventually, I managed to turn the discussion around to the football, and he said: ‘that was a ****ing beauty Micky scored!’ I had neither the heart nor the stomach to tell him that Mick Channon had been transferred to Man City in the close season.
  16. I’m fully expecting things to turn more Kafkaesque later, especially if, heaven forbid, poor Bletch has to announce that Jeff has won loki award.
  17. Muppets react to news that Bletch has started another word thread.
  18. I think you’ve made some interesting points, particularly the one I’ve highlighted. I’ve never been to the USA, so I’d be interested to read people’s views on whether they think there is any truth in the perception that American audiences are keener on success stories, whereas, here in the UK, we much prefer programs that chart the demise of teams or individuals? Personally speaking, if I’m honest, taking Saints out of the equation, I’d probably be more interested in watching a documentary about another team’s downfall rather than their successes – perhaps this is just me, or perhaps this is an example of the cynicism to which you refer, Lou?
  19. Porstsea Lil told me it’s getting like tinder on here … but without the shagging
  20. You saying I'm owned by an owl? ...you jumped up little prick!
  21. Jeff, as far as I’m aware, one of the main functions of TMS is to post utter crap and rip the piss – don’t take it so seriously, mate. Bletch does sterling work on here, imo.
  22. Halo Stickman

    Mane

    +1.
  23. Me too. Yoshi is an important member of the squad, imo. Love his commitment.
