  1. don't often post an opinion post-match, as people do "see" things differently at games - dependant on expectation I guess... FWIW.... I thought it was one of those days when we could've been there into the night and not looked liked scoring. Not because we are particularly poor, it just wasn't going to be our day - and Huddersfield played exactly as a home side should! They played a high temp pressing game that gave us little room to impose ourselves and prevented us from getting the ball down and playing as we would have liked. I don't believe there was a singles Saints player that "had a mare" - this was certainly NOT a Sheff Weds performance where no-one gave a damn, as much as they tried, they weren't going to get anything from the game. Ratings from me: Davis - 9 - outstanding 1st half save and another penalty save too Murty - 7 - tried hard, was pressed so hard by the Town winger that he seldom got the chance to go forward Perry -6 - some good interceptions, but lacks pace (as we all know) Thomas - 6 - the ref had a real problem with thomas all day without justification. Harding - 6- one of his quieter games, probably for the same reason as that for Murty - little opportunity to get forward James - 6- some nice play across the midfield but no thrust forward. often by-passed as we hoofed the ball away from defence Sneiderlin -7- the only creative influence, when he got the ball he tried to use it productively Wootton - 6 - did what he does - collects the ball and passes it 5 yards sideways or backwards, with the occasional hoof up towards rasiak and/or lambert Lallana - 6 - tried to be creative but found plenty of dead ends rather than open spaces. Rasiak - 5 - clearly has the ability but attitude is still not right. never looked like working well with lambert, they played too far apart and with no understanding. Lambert - 6 - pressed their defence when he got the ball but was operating pretty much as a lone striker Thompson - quick and fit but struggled in a team already up against the wall Mellis - nice touches and added some spark to the midfield Lancashire - brought on to man mark their CF and did ok but confidence is shot and needs time/patience to recover his form AP - tried to gain a point away from home against a team in form and fav for promotion, it didn't pay off this time.
  2. The Saints Web Forum curse strikes! As soon as he was sponsored by SWF, he's out of the team! (who else is in the package?)
  3. I would suggest to the OP that he gets a ticket to an away match (perhaps Swindon would be a good choice?) and then follow the thread on Saints Away about which is the pub of choice. He then gets to said pub and meets the regular travellers there. That way: 1) Dan gets to see what the Saints Web posters are actually like 2) People get to find out if Dan is actually a Saints fan or a variety of murderer (or a skate!) Getting along to the pub and mixing with Saints fans is a great way to introduce yoursef gently and then start up car sharing...... Let's not be too hard on the lad for trying to get together some sort of car share to away matches! :-)
  4. YES YES YES he is! :-P
  5. I'm here! ;-) (and going :-P)
  6. Sneiderlin 1 3 8th 2nd rnd
  7. I had a random phone call about the new "trial" rate for 2 months - £4.99 - never subscribed to Saints TV before, so I guess the call was linked to the Saints Newsletter subscription I did? Anyways, sold as video and audio streaming with highlights of the last 5 years matches (not sure this is a bonus?!)... reverts to £39 for the year after the first two months - not sure its gonna be worth that!
  8. Yes, indeedly a coat is required! As for using your 999th post on that... well..... See you in the Eagle pre-match this weekend? Early KO though, not sure what time they open?
  9. What an astoundingly crass first line in your response! You imply that he can't be a 'serious' fan because he doesn't know who Guy Askham is?! Sometimes I wonder why any new people would want to post on here! Maybe it would be better to welcome new posters? Goodness knows this place needs some fresh contributions!
  10. Yeah, lets ditch all our creative players! Le Tiss wouldn't have stood a chance with Saints if fans had the same attitude back then! Lallana is an excellent player who will go on to great things, if he gets into a club that will develop him and play to his strengths, he will shine for many years. Unfortunately, his attitude towards Saints and putting in the effort is totally wrong and he is yet another player who needs a change to achieve his potential. (Kevin Davies is Club Captain at Bolton and still scoring goals in the Prem!) Schneiderlin has just captained his country's U20's team, to 4th place in a summer tournament, so he must be rubbish (sic!). If we can hold on to a couple of the creative players, we will benefit greatly. If his attiude is ok, we should keep him, but as plenty of Prem clubs have shown an interest previously, I would expect him to go too. He didn't shine in our team last season, but no-one else did either.
  11. I like this song, I may just have to start it at Bournemouth on Saturday!
  12. now THAT made me LoL "I just need your bank account details...." brialliant!
  13. Surely with a smaller squad, that'll be "fewer" players not getting a game each week, no matter how many subs you're allowed? :-P
  14. I'd have to disagree with you there! Given the buggeration factor you highlight, if we were to "fold" it would cause even greater issues at the lower end of the "steps", therefore it would make perfect sense for Saints to be accomodated in BSP, shifting all te remaining teams up one place...... otherwise they really would have a problem ****ing teams all around the place (esp after issuing fixtures....) ...having said that, I'm sure it is all academic, as the take-over will be completed by Friday - why spend the money sooner than you have to?
  15. it'd be nice if we could get someone to cover 4 corners of a football pitch!
  16. Are you saying we'll hear at "five to five", or that we're getting a cabbage?!
  17. I prefer the "Red and White, Barmy Army" song, myself ;-)
  18. From the Black Country: What a black day. Poor players and poor formation. Can we 'do a Leeds' - and score 4 in 20 mad minutes in the 2nd half?! Three subs at half won't be enough! :-(
  19. ...the correct and appropriate action taken by the club, at last. the lady you spoke to was also correct, but showed little appreciation of Customer Service in her explanation and resolution. as for the original issue - the website should make it clear about how to obtain your "free" item, but then you should also have considered how the club would assess your application for one item and then process it as two? Would have complained if the "free" item had been sent to you, but was in a different size the first item ordered? How are the club to assume that you will require two items of the same size as part of the deal? Hence, the need to enter BOTH items in your "basket" and then they can calculate the price accordingly. Some common sense from both sides would'nt have gone amiss. As for the raging arguments about supermarkets and cows/turtles..... each to their own and buy what you want, from your shop of choice. Supply and demand.
  20. Andrew Mintram Matt Hemsley Martyn Gorse Andrew Grace Michelle Moore Steve Grant Davis Ford Paul Radley Ric Paul Some of these have had some involvement with other "initiatives" that have, for one reason or another, fallen thorugh. All of these are capable and eloquent people who would postitively contribute to this type of intiative. Not that I believe any of them would wish to take up such a role. I'm sure there are many more who could do a great job with this too, but this is a first pass at answering your question.
  21. constantly - Hmmmmmm, i'd like to see your definition of "constant" LoL Need you go on? I think you have already defeated yourself!
