  1. This is the thing - Lallana has been great for the last few seasons. So much so that one of Adkins' main challenges was to get us winning games without him in the side. But he's been doing it in Leagues where the toughest games have included Norwich, Leeds, Peterborough, Brighton, West Ham and Reading. That's a huge, huge, huge difference between doing it against the big Manchester and London clubs as well as in the European tournaments. I'd go further than you and CB Fry; unless he puts in blinding performances against the top teams, he will need a great first season in the prem and continue it into the following one (assuming we stay up or he moves to another top flight club).
  2. Totally irrelevant and pointless comment. If QPR and Fulham are after him there's no way he can be good enough for us.
  3. It's a multi story car park. Apparently they're quite a good revenue generator...
  4. As we went on to sign Uwe Rosler, I'd say Lowe got it spot on. Hoddle clearly was wrong about BT and offloading him like that would have been madness.

    Puncheon

Puncheon slated Cortese before the clear the air talks. Either that or the 'manager wanted him out from day one' stuff is all down to Puncheon not getting over being dropped for Chamberlain when Adkins first came in. A decision by Adkins that proved totally correct.
  6. Very different. Cardiff's owners are doing it in an attempt to bring more money into the club. Revie did it because he was a superstitious nutjob.
  7. You can see them because they're cached on your browser - everyone else sees three broken link icons. Looks like the hystericalkits.co.uk don't like hotlinking.
  8. Prometheus was frankly poor. Fassbender and the visuals are good but... If a less respected director produced it then it would have been panned. Avoid.
  9. Which team actually try and do something about racist offences?
  10. This is true. Loaning in Chaplow, Guly and Hooiveld was particularly disruptive.
  11. He actually first described penalties as a tragedy about six years ago referring to Italy's WC win. Obviously an anti-English agenda though... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/africa/5388458.stm
  12. Wasn't it something to do with Oldknow?
  13. Agreed. Possibly a bit ironic about the installment plan coming in just when (hopefully) there will be no shortage of people wanting season tickets!
  14. I think it was the second season in League 1 when prices went up about 40% and the renewal period was ridiculously short. It just seemed like they waited long enough that people were just really keen to get their tickets sorted, got on with it in a hurry and maybe moaned about it later. It just doesn't seem all that fan friendly to me - especially with the lack on an instalment plan. I was planning on renewing my ST last season as I had a feeling we'd do pretty well but things got in the way and I didn't get it sorted. As I'd been pretty busy the previous year I'd missed a couple of games I figured 'no problem, I'll go to most of them anyway'. In the end I made it to one. I'm fine with that as I frankly could use the saved money but the end result to the club is they're about £400 down and one extra empty seat for the games that didn't sell out. I know we're supposed to be loaded at the moment but it seems a bit of a complacent way to go about doing things, especially when NC talks about having a full ground and extending the stadium.
  15. I think its simply down to the fact that if they leave it late and keep the renewal window short, it puts pressure on people to renew rather than think too much about it.
  16. I've heard talk of some thread that's been running in the Lounge...
  17. Are you seriously comparing a stadium expansion in a single unitary authority with a major national infrastructure project that goes through about five separate counties and a decent wedge of green belt?

    Hawk-eye

Don't be so negative - this is clearly a sign that developers of motion detection gizmos believe our pitch the goal at the Northam end are the best in the country.
  19. If the catchment area has no population, what's the use of the catchment area? How does the amount of people in Portsmouth affect the Southampton fanbase? I've met one or two of them and they don't seem likely to be buying season tickets at St. Mary's anytime soon. According to that Wikipedia page the Southampton urban area population is 304,400. Add on 41,420 for Winchester and you're only 40k more than the population of the City of Nottingham. The figure Wikipedia provides for the Nottingham urban area (not including Derby) is 666,358. I'm sorry but the population figures just don't seem to match your assertions. (And I'm going on about population as these are the potential customers...)
  20. The gloomiest possible view would be to suggest we'll probably be relegated, Adkins will leave or we'll be sold to some Mongolian horse milk traders. Haven't seen much of that on here... What? You mean like suggesting we have a bigger catchment area, than for example... Nottingham, despite it being pointed out that the latter has a much larger population to draw upon?
  21. I'm glad you're finally starting to see sense regarding Hoddle...
  22. Just to add to this, this season the following academy graduates have been playing in the Prem: Bale Walcott Chamberlain Surman Dyer Best Baird Three players short of an interesting team. There's also Ranger and Williamson at Newcastle, but I'm not sure how much the academy can/should take credit for them. Also, would Bart qualify as home grown now?
  23. I think that if people pre-judge a player, it's based on if they've heard of him, what they know of him and the circumstances around the transfer. The fee often only becomes an issue if it relates to other concerns around the club - i.e. 'do we have any money?' The signings of Jos and Ricardo Fuller are cases in point. Really? I'm sure the overall response on here was one of pant dirtying excitement when Lambert signed...
