They know as little as the Times then... http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/football/clubs/southampton/article3592330.ece

This is so funny it's untrue.

We massively overachieved last season - the players and management did fantastically well in a harder division than Norwich faced the year before. Unfortunately now we have to face the consequences, where the weakest teams in the division are better than the strongest teams we faced last year. That said, although this is painful at the moment, surely it's better than the potential alternative - another season in the Championship and probably having Lambert and Morgan leave anyway...
-
The original point was how we didn't end the season strongly (which we didn't - we went from being clear at the top to needing a win on the last day to avoid the playoffs) - not how we did over the whole season. The fact that we did well over the whole season is irrelevent to this discussion.

You pays yer money, you buy the right. That said, booing a player when he comes on or makes a mistake is on a level of stupidity right up there with singing 'Papa Waigo always offside' or 'there's only one Chris Baird' after that altercation with Kelvin Davis...

Norwich. Maybe, maybe, Swansea. Was always going to be this way.

And 36 + 8 equals..?

Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"
jam replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
The context is there in the post you quoted: The point Turkish is making (in this post, at least), is that if the club are trying to sell product - tickets, corp hospitality, sponsorship, etc. - being difficult to do business with is not a benefit. Driving a hard bargain with a supplier is a completely different kettle of pompey porn. If your'e trying to arrange a day out for a bunch of your clients, do you take them to the football club who are a nightmare to deal with or another venue (say, the cricket), who are bending over backwards to get your business? -

So Simon Peach didn't ask MTL for his opinion about Cortese but he got it anyway? -
I'm sure the9 or MLG will be along to clarify but I believe we're on a one-year cycle atm so yes, new kit next year. Something that doesn't look **** would be nice...

How many tactical mistakes is Adkins allowed?
jam replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
For me Hammond's lack of pace makes it hard to see him doing a job for us in this division. Every so often people mention Fonte playing in midfield - does anyone know if he's ever actually played there? Incidentally, I don't think Butterfield is that bad a shout. Going from full back to defensive midfielder isn't unknown and he knows how to read the game and make a pass. It'd be nice to think that Dickson would fit into that role but that's just sentiment on my part... -
I guess it's a case of NC (I assume) not wanting to feel like the club (or he) is being taken for a ride. If, say, Crawley weren't offering to chip in that much towards his wages I could see why the management wouldn't be particularly bothered to pay him to play for another club and be near his girlfriend. Especially if (again, completely speculating), Dickson wasn't willing to take a pay cut to move. It seemed a bit similar with Puncheon when Blackpool seemed to be willing to take him off our hands for a few hundred grand and people were suggesting we just get rid of him as he was a 'disruptive influence' and he had no future here. If course, Puncheon had by then demonstrated that he was potentially an EPL player while Dickson has not. Of course, it could just be a case of the club cutting its nose off to spite its face rather than themselves negotiate on a contract that no longer suits either party. Regarding whether Dickson has a future - I get the impression that if Adkins doesn't feel that he can rely on a player to do what he wants then that player isn't going to get a look in. It seemed like Harding never really recovered from the (Carlisle, I think) game when Adkins hauled him off pretty early after some important errors.

I agree with the OP but any excuse to post this highlight from an otherwise dark time...

Think the 'worst keeper of all time' line was a reference to Forecast going orf to Gills.

I'm sorry but most of this doesn't add up... Actually Saint Charlie wrote the following, none of which should suggest that Nixon isn't infallible: The suggestion was that Saints would be willing to use him as a makeweight in the deal. We know that the player didn't want to move - he tweeted as much - but it seems perfectly reasonable that the club would have been more than interested in letting go of a player who so far this season has made a single appearance - in the League Cup. Especially if it helped with the signing of one of their top targets. After all, they certainly didn't show any sentiment regarding Billy Sharp or Dean Hammond. We signed Ramirez and made an approach for Phillips - Adkins is quoted confirming it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19243575

Who is it who decides which player does the interviews anyway?
-
Benitez - like Martinez - believes the manager should be the main man at a football club. I can't see him wanting to fit into our structure.

It's a shortlist of two, the names are Redknapp and Hoddle; what do you do?

lolcats.

They didn't seem to have a problem with it under Strachan.

Agree, and Wigan are no slouches either. My main concern is it sounds like Villa are starting to pull it together - Pat Murphy on 5live was purring about them this afternoon...

IIRC any price reductions also have to be agreed with the away team. -
