  1. Thanks MB. Also nice to see we don't have the most badly written OS in the league...
  2. Yeah, and if you look at the league tables tonight and two weeks ago (comparing THREE games to ONE) then we've moved upwards. Isn't being selective with the satitistics fun...
  3. Interesting post, Phil. Sadly that looks like the game plan. If we somehow get £3m for Lallana in January then the books look a little better and the club gets abit more time. And if we're lucky someone might splash out on a new defender. Good innit. Also sadly, it says a lot about the pantomime villain mentality on this site that your post got interpreted by one poster as somehow pro-Lowe...

    Merrington

In fairness there were warning signs that Wilde wasn't the answer when he first showed up.

    Skacel MUST play!

    You mean this post?
  6. The problem is we are skint. According to various posts on here, fans are staying away as they don't want to put money into the club while Lowe is here. The fact that there is reduced revenue is exacerbating the problem. The fans who are refusing to go are responsible for to reduction in revenue. Therefore they are helping to keep the club in this mess.
  7. Last season.
  8. His run led directly to our equaliser.

    Simon Gillett

I think he's more left footed but point taken. I'd like to see someone take the LB role so we could get more out of Surman...
  10. I was in northern Iceland last week chatting to this dude and when I told him I was from Southampton he immediatly replied 'Matthew Le Tissier". True story.
  11. MLG, out of interest, how long has our current badge been around?
  12. Hallelujah... Please can you post this on the Lallana thread?
  13. As he said in the post you quoted: no.
  14. Of course a defeat is just round the corner. Let's just hope it isn't in front of a big St Mary's crowd as has been the case in recent seasons. Most of us want this side, possibly more than any in recent memory, to go on a storming run but it's less than likely. Look at it this way: if some unknown Dutchman can take a struggling championship side, fill it with academy players and then chase promotion to the premiership then either Lowe us some kind of genious for finding and hiring him or the standard of coaching in this country is beyond pathetic.
  15. No he aint.
  16. Bale and Jones would have probably stayed. We would have had money to patch the holes in the team up and we would have continued to play a style of football that was far better suited to the Premiership than Derby's.
  17. But if Redknapp didn't want to work with Woodward, why did he take the job in the first place? After all, the whole world knew that he was on his way here.
  18. Something about feeding the troll..?
  19. 'This goal was inevitable.' 'They held on valliantly for 99% of the game'!! Ha ha! Not the game I watched!
  20. No player by player ratings but some random thoughts... Davis, pretty solid as usual. Cant see why some people hate him. Thought Perry played well. Killer was excellent but think every game he plays is a bonus. I don't think we can realistically rely on these two playing every league game. Didn't see much of Surman but think it's significant that the only time he really attacked was when we scored our goal. Wasted at left back. Made our goal. James: Made some good tackles and passes but gave away the free kick that led to the goal. Didn't notice much of Schniederlein. Gillet: Seemed to keep popping up when we needed someone to break up their play. Didn't make any defence splitting passes but I don't remember him giving the ball away. McGoldrick: Took his goal. I don't know about DM. It sems like he's ALMOST there. He's got the height, he has the build,he can score goals. I'm just a fan but I think that DM has to decide how much ihe wnats to be a great striker... Holmes: Jury is out. IF we cant sell Skacel then I think he needs to get fit and play in this role. Wotton: The only thing I can remember of him is a needlessly overhit crossfield pass that went into touch. Right now I don't know why we signed him. Can we have Oakley or Prutton back please? Dyer: One good moment where he just seemed to breeze past their defenders. He could be one of the better players in this league, I guess we'll see this season whether he is a future premiership player or just a championship also ran. BWP: Took the stick from the Cardiff fans well. I actually feel for him because he seems to be getting the brunt of the abuse re the thieving thing although the video suggests that Dyer was much more involved... Tracked back and helped Surman at times. Overall? Was expecting us to lose convincingly so am not too disappointed. Don't know if we played better than I hoped or Cardiff played badly but am actually pleased with the result as we were unlucky to lose. I hope our players can learn from this. We played some great passing football and our movement off the ball was good. But we gave away a goal at the end of the game which left us with nothing. Sound familiar?
  21. Glad I'm not alone in my concerns...
  22. I think like most posters on here, I hope JP works out well. I know it's only preseason but I really like some of the football we've played and I like the way he speaks. Lots of enthusiasm and self-belief. I do think we will probably struggle this season because we will be asking a lot of our younger players, the teenagers, to play big roles for the whole season. I think of how Surman last season and Bale the season before seemed to fade after Christmas and need a break. Also, while I get what JP said about having skillful players to build from the back, the past two seasons have shown us that you need full backs who can really defend. Time will tell how good Surman, Mills and James are when we are under the cosh. Still, at least we are stronger at CB than we have been in years!
  23. In one of Gorman's post mach interviews on Radio Hants he made it clear that he and Dodd wanted the job full time.
  24. I agree that you can just say 'play the young players' and expect success to naturally follow but I'll pick you up on your comments about Best and Beattie. I think that judging by our form in the play of season with Saga and Best up front, last season would have been much better if Best had stayed and continued that partnership. I'm going from memory here and know you're better withteh stats than me! Secondly, and I'm nitpicking but Beattie WAS a young player when he was with us and playing well. We simply haven't had a striker of his quality for any decent period of time since. By the way, I agree with your first thought about DM being the main striker. I wonder us JP can plan for either Rasiak, John or Saga up front when I guess he knows that we need to sell one or more of them but we don't know which one we'll be able to!
