  1. I think people from Hampshirrrre have particular trouble with Scandinavian "r"s...
  2. Looked promising but no real understanding with the players around him. This game came to early for him IMO. Needed to come off as we needed to sort our team out and it wasn't the time for bedding in newbies.
  3. Deffo. I'm glad that the club seems to be showing the competition some respect and saying that we want to win it. It's the best chance for us winning a trophy any time soon and I'm really hoping we can do it.
  4. Wally Downes?
  5. It won't give them an advantage this Friday night - we're gonna murder em!

    Lallana

Definately. I know some on here find it a bit embarrassing that we're in it but we are where we are so let's look on it as a good opportunity to get in the winning habit!

    Lallana

Pardew said at the Fans Forum that we rejected Prem interest in the summer and that he persuaded Lallana to stay a while and win stuff here, early in his career. I'd assume that the same will be the case next summer (assuming we don't get promoted).
  8. I'm assuming it was data charges and he was listening to a live stream somewhere...
  9. No, season ticket holders are more important.
  10. Now the Acadamy Director at Lyon. Seems quite the coup that we ever had him. Not sure if anyone else caught it but he is interviewed briefly in the BBC Football Focus report on Prem clubs poaching French youngsters http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/football_focus/8288512.stm Prost's bit is at 4:38. Interesting to hear his judgment re. selling Benzema to Madrid: 'It was a lot of money...'
  11. Pardew spoke highly of him at the Fans Forum (IIRC) and someone on the Trotman thread pointed out that he might have burned his bridges at Preston, so here's hoping...
  12. It seemed that sometime after the equaliser something seemed to happen and both Mellis and Papa completely turned their games around and became much more dangerous. It was good to see.
  13. Good to see the club being proactive and trying things. It would be good if they could make some exceptions for situations like St. Jason's though.
  14. In fairness I don't think anyone would have been up to the job with the team / resources we had last season.
  15. Well that's the impression you gave when you wrote this: Where have I talked about Wotte and continuity? Where have I stated that we CANNOT sack AP? And for that matter, who on this board has decided that he is a failure after 10 games? I simply tried to clarify a poster's comment for you. IF Pardew fails then it will be HARDER for NC to sack the man he brought in than someone who was already here. It will give ammunition to people who want to portray him as trigger happy or unqualified to run a football club. For example, anyone who wants to sell a newspaper. It's a pretty obvious point and frankly not worth all the posts (especially two of my three ) as pretty much everyone expect Pardew to turn it around and deliver us a solid, if not better, season. Even more so after we stuff Rovers tomorrow night
  16. I believe it was the Trotmeister doing the dodgems.
  17. John B never said that Wotte was better than Pardew. He merely suggested that by binning him and bringing in their own man, NC and herr Marcus are pretty much committed to that for he foreseeable, whether he turns things around or not. On the other hand an incumbant (in our case Wotte), would have been much more sackable.
  18. I think that with Bridge and Bale, we had left backs who looked to bomb forward whenever they had the chance. From what I've seen we're just not set up to allow Harding to do that or use him if he gets into space (in contrast to the Murty and even Thomas on the right).
  19. You work for Tony Lynham?
  20. Interesting to note that KD mentioned Keith Granger, when talking about saving penalties. Just heard Pardew talking about how big a loss the departures of McGoldrick and Surman was. Really enjoyed the way Pardew talked about Lallana and winning stuff. I've never been a fan of Pardew but he can certainly talk a good line. I hope he can follow it up. Cortese has basically said that they had the banker's draft (or whatever) signed and ready on the Friday when they heard from the administrator that another consortium was in. Some quotes from Cortese, apologies if already posted: "To me it seemed that they didn't want us. We were probably the only consortium that had the money for the down payment" "...and finally when they realised they had no other choice [the administrators] let us in" "I come from banking, I know what means credit crunch" "[southampton] is probably one of the few... English clubs that is currently debt free". According to Cortese, a director of football has got the same priority as the beer price right now. It's something they consider as they are rebuilding the club but it hasn't has any thought into or any conversation about. Pardew commented that DoFs happen over here (e.g. David Pleat), wouldn't be a bad thing at SFC "somewhere down the road". He said he'd never worked with one so far but would be prepared to work with one.
  21. We're already in League 1?
  22. The Reading fans that I know have nothing bad to say about him.
  23. I thought that Murty and James worked very well together on the right and gave us a decent threat. Nice to see a someone playing right back for us who is an actual right back and knows how to play at right back.
  24. 11th August.
