  1. I should hope they did. None of this 'we should just be grateful to stay up' crap - we need to get out of this division as soon as humanly possible. I was trying to back up Alpine Saint's point. It's all well and good people going on about the five year plan and AP's three year contract but they aren't benchmarks to wait for and see how far we've got. NC has said that we need to be in or banging on the door of the Prem within five years, Pardew has got three years to earn himself a new contract (here or somewhere better if he gets offered it). If after one year NC doesn't think that sufficient progress is being made then he's obliged to try and do something about it. That's life. I hope it doesn't come to that but then the play offs are looking rather distant right now.
  2. You'd give him the whole 3 years, considering how much investment the team has had, would you ? And after those 3 years decide if we were still on target to succeed with the 5 year plan?
  3. That's a big if, but I agree. Even though we lost, the team raised the bar on Saturday. If they can maintain that then Norwich will have to play a lot better than they have at SMS this season to get anything out of it.
  4. I'd imagine Semi would have better than Thomas at keeping up with their counter attacks down our right as well.
  5. Whoopy ****. What do you want, a biscuit?

    Trouble?

You monkey, you should have gone the other way...

    Trouble?

you were obviously not in the area after the game.
  8. Bang on. If we play like that for the rest of the season then we will do very very well. We're not going to come up against another England keeper this season.
  9. License, I expect.
  10. One tournament on home ground, lucky to get past Spain, basically rated for that result against Holland. Nah.
  11. And the rest of the time play in a half empty stadium? No thanks.
  12. Did a better job at citeh than anyone else recently. Aside from capello he was the best England manager since Sir Bobby. Must be crap.
  13. Gaydamak was going to take Portsmouth to the 'next level', Mikey Wilde was going to invest 'new money' in the club. Look at the fellas at Liverpool, Crystal Palace, QPR even. We've every reason to be cautious and a bit cynical. There are lot's of examples of football club chairmen or owners in England who have made big plans and left the clubs in trouble. Fortunately for us, so far we seem to have got supremely lucky with Markus (and Cortese). So far they've hardly put a foot wrong and that picture gives me the hope that the next few years will be pretty enjoyable for us all.
  14. The whole 'lets not worry to much about the cups' aspect is really important. By rights we should lose to the skates (they're two divisions above us FFS), the worst thing would be for that to affect the rest of our season.

    Northam

Northam was good last night. I was in Kingsland South and it was good to see almost the whole end full of good guys. But I think a lot of the people in the Northam would be surprised at how quiet they sound from the rest of the ground. On another note, there was a nice moment in the first half when most of the Chapel / Family Section jumped up en masse to join the Northam in a verse of Shoot the Pompey Scum.
  16. What generally happens is that the captain lifts it. Then he passes it to the guy behind him and he lifts it and so on until the manager gets a go. Hammond will most probably be captain that day.
  17. Looks the better option. London trains on a sunday are crap. Use this link, it should update: http://traintimes.org.uk/sou/wat/first/2010-03-28
  18. According to the Echo, NC stated that he 'is "looking forward to the team getting back to winning ways" at Carrow Road'. I think the key point he's making though is that in the great scheme of things, this week's games aren't that important (besides, it's not really fair on the team to expect them to turn over Portsmouth). Unfortunately the next game is the toughest remaining league game of the season but NC could hardly say "I look forward to seeing the team get back to winning ways against Wycombe but am not getting my hopes up about Norwich".
  19. The skates would love that...
  20. Yeah, I loved that bit. Even if it's just PR, it's a cracking effort. The Barcelona link is a bit lazy though. I imagine Randy Lerner at Villa and the board at West Brom would feel a bit narked when they read that.
  21. Absolutely. Nothing like a good old 'try and guess what next season's kit will look like' thread.
  22. Scooby... >
  23. If we were in the play offs then there would be the chance of two fixtures against 'them' next season as well as being out of league 1. Play offs every time.
  24. Oh sorry. I didn't realise that putting a bit of fabric around someone's arm made them play better. Riiiigggghhhhtt
  25. So who did we ship out?
