And all the words were different.

After watching the Portsmouth game I'd suggest that the team we started with on Saturday (and at least three of the subs) would hold their own in the CCC.
-
Some people seem to dislike James because he came into a horrendously weakened team and playing out of position. Last season could have ruined him (see Lancashire) but he came through and got better. He linked up really well with Murty at the beginning of the season and although we now have more exciting options at right midfield, I think he has a lot to offer in the centre. I think he could do with a bit more 'presence' but he can pass the ball a bit and isn't afraid to get stuck in.

The Kings Arms.... Happy days.

Where has it been stated that NC's target was survival in League 1 this season?
-
It's really great to see how many more people are rating Morgan now. He's a cracking player and a pleasure to watch. Be a shame if he goes in the summer.
-
Better than I hoped. Good attacking and defensive play, looking like and excellent signing so far.

Good post. If we seriously believe we can get out of this division we have to expect to win every home game and most away games. By that I mean that that's the standard we should demand from our players and management. That's not being disrespectful to other teams, it's just a fact. If we want automatic promotion next season we have to start getting results (and mostly wins, not draws) virtually every week and show a level of form far above that which most Southampton fans have ever seen.

Totally agree with your first line but where do you get the certainty about Jan 2011 from?
-
Was that back when Chelsea were skint, perchance?
-
You'd think that the result and performance on Tuesday would have shaken that complacency off a bit.

Hence the (while it lasts) part of the post.

It would be more accurate to say money DOES NOT GUARANTEE success straight away. Look at Blackburn, Wigan and Fulham. All languishing in the lower leagues for decades until rich men bought them, threw a lot of money at them and all now in the Premierthingy. Fulham started by sacking Micky Adams early in the season. Their new manager Ray Wilkins left the club at the end of that season and they stormed the league under Keegan the season after. Oh, and Fulham had a five year plan to reach the Premmywotsit too. And how many players in Chelsea's first title winning team (the first XI, not subs) were there before Abramovich took over? If I recall correctly only Terry. But don't get me wrong, I'm loving the laughing at Citeh (while it lasts)

Saints v Walsall [formerly known as Warsaw] build up.
jam replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
I actually think that Morgan has goals in him, he just hasn't made that breakthrough for us yet. If either of his attempts on the opening day had gone in then I think he and the team would have had a very different season. -
He appears to have signed a sort term contract for a non league club in the west country having ben released by us.
-
We won at Norwich. How does that explain us losing ground in the play off chase?
-
Sturrock says he wasn't got rid of by either way. Lowe definately got rid of Grey early in a season and brought in WGS. All these examples indicate is that it's not about when you get rid of a manager but who you get in to replace him.
-
And they supported him through the close season allowed him to sign players, allowed him to manage them into this season then boof, he's gone after one freak result. Still, they seem happy.
-
But why have we drawn those games? A fair few people on here are saying it's all down to the reasons I mentioned above. I'm hoping that Pardew will sort it but the league form recently has been patchy, certainly below where we should be in this league with the investment we've made. But it seems that if you say that you're some kind of moaner.
-
Not a knee jerk reaction though. They planned precisely when they would drop Mancini in. Norwich binned Gunn after one freak result. Didn't do too bad for them.
-
Just a question, but if it's all down to our poor start, no pre-season and not having the best players to begin with, how come we seem to be further off the play-offs now than we were at Christmas?
-
The post you quote is from the build up to the game at their place.
-
Is that Paul Allen's boat?
-
Yeah, apparently there's some game coming up soon and tickets went on sale today...
-
I changed mine a couple of weeks ago and it was very quick and straightforward. I emailed the ticket office and although it took a few days for a reply I was able to check the seat that I wanted was available. I had to go down to the ticket office to get a new ticket printed but it only took a couple of minutes at the counter. Are you mobile at the moment?
