  1. You appear to have missed the point of CB Fry's post, which was successful managers deliver success and money helps massively - NOT that throwing money at a team automatically produces success.
  2. Love the way Keegan nods it across to Channon to put it away. It was almost as if he was saying 'we're not done yet'...
  3. There was a game a month or so ago (can't remember which) in which Papa got criticised on here for sticking a good chance over the bar. However the move was started by Papa himself on the edge of our box by nicking the ball from an opposition attacker and quickly switching the play to Harding. If if if if if, I know, but it would have been sweet if he'd managed to put it away properly.
  4. Cracking goal, I've looked for video of it online but without success. Anyone got a link?

    Spot on.
  6. Hard to say. While the cups did mean extra fixtures for us, we only lost cup games to Premiership opposition and I think helped with instilling that 'winning mentality' that Pardew talks about. I think that we raised our game against Portsmouth and have been a much better side since then and even if we don't go up, the way we are playing bodes well for next season. (of course, I would trade them all in for us to finish in the top two this season).

There are a couple of people but I'm not sure how serious they are (or how seriously we can take them). One of said posters also slates Lambert and a year or so ago posted that he was through with Saints as he had the chance of a ST at the Emirates. I think the question Glasgow asks is fair enough (I can't believe I just typed that) - considering the minute amount of serious 'Pardew out' posts, why are so many people people getting so worked up about it?

So two posters out of how many members? That's a bit like George bush saying that there is real scientific debate about climate change...
  9. I've noticed this too; I like it whole 'bring on the next game' mentality that some people on here have. Of course, it looks like this summer is going to be pretty boring!
  10. Not seen that second clip before - thanks for posting it, Pilchards. Definitely onside.
  11. People said the same about Baird being a bench warmer for Fulham but does anyone think that he was regretting leaving us when he was playing in the team that tonked Juventus last month?
  12. Not really, SOG has been having almost constant digs at Alpine_Saint for weeks now.
  13. You're starting to sound a little obsessed now. Edit: I just remembered who I'm addressing this to. Stable. Bolt. Door.
  14. Regarding this whole 'is quick promotion that important' debate... Markus didn't buy this club to languish in the lower leagues. He's not putting HIS money into the club, players and the training ground to languish in the lower leagues and win trophies that most people haven't heard of. And you can bet your bottom dollar that he and NC won't be sitting in the exec box against Orient on Monday thinking 'this is great, so much better than the overrated Premier League'. Sure, for the most part this season has been enjoyable. Sunday was great and I hope it spurs loads of new people to take an interest in the club. But the point is Premiership football - as soon as possible. People are taking it for granted that we will storm the league next year, which we might. But if we lose one or two players to injury in September, we could be knackered.
  15. Reminds me about how Dave Jones used to get grief for not caring because he didn't jump around like a trained monkey a al Martin O'Neil.
  16. Wasn't that the golden era in which we went out in the first round of the Euros then failed to qualify for the world cup? (which I believe is the point you are making, just seen your next post)
  17. I might well be biased - I was never that impressed with Wilde (easy to say so long after the event, I know). Big difference for me between Burley and AP is that Pardew has certainly played his part in the atmosphere this season.
  18. In fairness I don't think that you can say that having a fortune to spend and the club being on a crest of a wave were things that Burley had that AP didn't. In fact I'd say that the feel good factor surrounding ML's takeover after administration far eclipses Go Wilde Mike's failure to buy Lowe out. That said, I agree with you that should we make the play offs then we have a great chance of going through*. * providing someone else knocks out Swindon...
  19. We got the Met line from Wembley straight after the game without any trouble. Although we did have to wait for a while in order for the mongs to get to grips with instruction to use the relatively empty front carriage.
  20. The problem with Wembley is that they didn't decide what they would do and then stick to it. new people kept coming along and the plans kept changing. That's what makes things go overbudget. The fact that whoever was in charge always knew that the government couldn't let it fail meant that there was no pressure to make sure things didn't spiral. Unlike the Emirates, which was cheaper and built quicker.
  21. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2008949,00.html I liked this bit:
  22. How long have you been at this mind reading business?
  23. We have no depth in central midfield, plus he could play on either flank so I could see him doing a job for us. Be nice to see him back but I don't see it happening.
  24. There was a guy who sat in the lower west at the Dell who'd fall asleep every single game. True story.
  25. That's what it seemed like to me as well.
