Do you know if they're going to do anything radical like be able to buy food and beer at the same bar?
-
A big transfer fee might have helped us but as KD was out off contract I don't think we'd have got one for him.
-
Obviously not, I'm drawing attention to the fact that 'lots on here don't rate him' is probably not the the best way to judge a player.
-
In the same way that a lot of posters on here didn't rate Fuller, Delap, Higginbottom, Dyer, Oakley, Leon Best, Kenwynne Jones, Peter Crouch or James Beattie?
-
He lost interest when the wrong consortium bought us out of administration...
-
I'm guessing more like Sweden.

I do hope that that will be the strapline for the new kit.

I wonder how much of Howe's success can be traced back to playing under Sean O'Driscoll and Mel Machin before him. As I recall AFCB had a good record of playing attractive, winning football under them.
-
I bet their owners are mightily glad we're not going up so they can look forward to the payday our game at their place will give them.
-
I think a player like him would certainly fit into Arsenal's team. If he did leave it would certainly be interesting to see how well he got on at a higher level.

There are times when it goes quiet at SMS - it happened against Oldham. I think AP is just trying to encourage fans to create an atmosphere. The teams coming to defend against us is nothing new; we had it under Burley, when we'd dominate games but not make a breakthrough and seemingly often concede a late goal against the run of play. Obviously, AP will only be considered a success if he fashions a team that has the ability to overcome that on a routine basis.

Karl Robinson, wasn't it? Anyone know if it was the same Karl Robinson who played for Bournemouth? Trying to work out why he had such a chip on his shoulder regarding us.
-
If I remember correctly Crouch settled early with Arse over Theo and Lowe/Wilde did the Bale deal.

lol @ summariser mistaking Semi for Lallana...
-
I think there are three key players who I think we might sweat on this close season: Lambert, Lallana and Morgan. Out of those I think Morgan is the most likely to leave and will probably be hardest to replace.

Alpine and CB Fry as the 2 of the 3 amigos. You are kidding, right?

I noticed your edit, was not your entire first paragraph a typo?

I think there are a few different choices that Pardew could have made last night. Personally I'd have liked to see James out wide putting crosses into Lambert and Barnard or Antonio coming on with a brief to run at the centre backs and scare the hell out of them. I'm not kidding myself that if either scenario had happened we would have got a result. Sometimes it just isn't to be and last might seemed like one of those nights; off days for a few players, a team that came here with no intention of winning and a **** poor set of officials. The proof's in the pudding though. If Pardew is the manager that SFC, Nicola Cortese and Uncle Marcus need then nights like last night will be few and far between. Pardew shouldn't be above criticism and there is a difference between saying 'I think he got that wrong' and 'I think he should go'. Some people on here don't seem to get that... Personally I'm enjoying the impact that Pardew is having on our club. It's a really good time to be a Saint and I hope that both continue for a long time.

You seem to have completely missed the point that I made which was that it's perfectly reasonable to enquire about AP's thinking behind subbing a sub after twenty minutes or so. In your previous post you claimed that it was obvious why Pardew did what he did to anyone with a clue about football then in the post above say that you'd have changed things sooner. So was AP right and unquestionable or not? You said that obviously we needed every available striker on the pitch but then say it was right to take Barnard off. You can't have it both ways. Pardew made a decision to shuffle the pack including subbing a sub, which rarely happens in football. He's supposed to the the expert. It's quite reasonable for a reporter to ask him to talk about his reasoning so the rest of us (especially the listeners who most likely aren't at the game), can understand a bit more about Pardew's take on the game, the team, etc. Pardew took it the wrong way and saw it as a negative but the question was fair enough. Incidentally, you seem to think that I've got an issue with either the substitutions or Pardew's attitude. I don't know where you've got that from, I just have an issue with fans who seem to think that reporters shouldn't ask questions of the club or manager.

I'm at the other end of the ground and I assumed the boos were frustration at the result. The players got a really good ovation as they came of followed by what were clearly boos directed at the officials. I'm glad the players got the ovation - most entertaining goalless draw I ever did see.

FA Cup game, perchance?
-
Fonte actually gave the impression that he was toying with Oldhams #9 in the first half last night. He seems to organise the defence as well, something that we've needed.

You say it's obvious that you need every available striker on the pitch but you don't even raise an eyebrow at Barnard being taken off? Barnard who scored the last gasp winner on Saturday and is possibly the best poacher we've got in a game that saw us put countless balls into the box. Bizarre. Seriously, why do you single out Barnard? Lambert, Lallana, Puncheon and Hammond hadn't had much luck either. If James is 'certainly not back to match fitness' then the question becomes why did he put James on in the first place? Or at least why did he come on as early as half time? Would you have asked about that? Why not take someone else off and put James wide on the right, where he can put decent crosses in and allow semi to use the overlap? There were loads of options, it's perfectly reasonable to ask the manager to talk about his thinking behind the options he chose. It's kind of the point of a post match interview.

It wasn't a stupid question...
