Steve Cotterill quote of the day on Saturday when whining about getting beat: 'take away the goals and it would have been a draw'. Genius.

That's the key for me. There's a school of thought on here that we hare rolling in it and should just chuck cash as a club to get a player that we want. That's clearly not the way NC wants us to operate and that suits me just fine. There are plenty of players that will fit in with what we need, rather than get fixated with one player who's club don't want to sell for a reasonable price (i.e. Antonio).

I think it's the repeated use of Cortisone injections that is thought to be dodgy. I guess it's the fact that there's something clearly wrong with the player but he's being injected with something to cover up the body's warning signs.

Hopefully we'll see the same improvement with Martin as we did with Antonio last season. -
I got the impression that language was an issue.
-
And we already have someone who takes a mean free kick, plus a couple of backups.
-
He does seem to raise his game against good opposition - I thought he was excellent against Portsmouth last season, when he had been poor in the games he'd played prior to that.

Nobody has forgotten that Cortese was instrumental in saving the club (even if only from Marc Jackson), but it doesn't make him immune from criticism. This whole "Cortese saved our club so anyone who criticises him must be a skate" mentality on here is cringeworthy.
-
Not sure if anyone explained that to these public servants...
-
I got frustrated with him last season when he'd get into a good position and then look to go all the way rather than play an easier ball in to Lambert or whoever. But then in an interview last season Pardew said that he'd briefed the player to have a go whenever he could.

I'd put Surman in for Harding and swap him and Bale around, meself...
-
We were nowhere near to getting promoted last season.

Yes, I believe Graham Taylor said the same thing regarding the press coverage of him as England manager.

I got the impression that we wouldn't get Barnard if we didn't sell Paterson in return.
-
I understood Cortese became aware of Southampton when the Paul Allen stories broke. The article linked below states this but also says http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2009/09/back_from_the_brink_southampto.html

Anything that doesn't go down the Spider-man route is a scandalous waste. And much better than some song that's been recycled from some other club.

Robinson was the saints-basher-in-chief last year. I don't remember Ince saying anything about us at all.
-
I think it's something to do with the fact that when you're under the cosh it's better to try and keep possession rather than giving it straight back to the opposition and saying 'here you go, try again'.

That'll be a quick way to ensure parking charges at Fleming Park.

As I haven't paid off my season ticket yet I can't justify spending eighteen quid for an extra game with Bournemouth. Doesn't appear to be on Solent, sadly as I've been missing a bit of Merrington...

Who on here would fancy a CM pairing of Pele and Morgan?

Plymouth rag annoyed at SFC - non-SFC photographers refused entry to SMS

Which will in turn backfire on us when every other club kicks up a stink about not being able use their own photographer at games that they are playing in and the subsequent reporting in the national media. -
On the grounds of 'no publicity is bad publicity', apparently...

When you mention bids being described as derisory, I wonder if it's a case of NC trying to drive too hard a bargain (either through naivety to player values or just tough trading), NC being unwilling to fully back Pardew's judgements, or maybe the fact that there is this general perception that we've got money to throw around and that's putting an extra x percent on any transfer fee or wage demand.
