  1. No, that's just pure speculation by the article writer.
  2. Watch it again but watch Stam's face. Sweet.
  3. The only reason there are people on here who have become quick to criticise Cortese is that there have been a succession of things coming out of the club that have been controversial and not explained very well. And as these things have happened there has been a response often along the lines of 'Cortese saved our club ffs and you're worried about an installment plan??' It's all very good taking the 'we'll conduct our business in private' attitude - I like this way of doing things - but I think it's not always appropriate in a business like football that lives on goodwill and repeat custom. Hopefully the fans forum will happen and fans will get the chance to get a feel for Cortese as I think that will make a lot of people more inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.
  4. Somewhat condescending.
  5. True but Anderlecht were happy to accept the money for him, it doesn't seem appropriate that they start publicly ruing not being able to afford to pay a similar amount for him. Plus, as you say, if JVD's heart is so rooted in Anderlecht then surely it's worth a pay cut to go back there.
  6. If anderlecht want him back so bad couldn't they just use the money Wolves gave them for the guy in the first place?
  7. No, only if you are introducing policies that are going to **** at least one section of your audience off (which covers pretty much anything). Unfortunately the club's communications with the fans has been simply poor and personally I think that they should address this. It's all well and good saying 'let's do Twitter and post snippets from the pre-season' but meanwhile the club was dropping a major bollock over season ticket renewals and the withdrawal of the installments scheme. If there was a reason for the way it was handled then personally I think the club should have explained it with the customers and at least pretended it cared in order to preserve goodwill. Instead we had silence and the impression that the powers that be didn't give a hoot and as we see on this forum there is less goodwill in Cortese as a result. We also have the situation where there is so much hunger for football coverage that there is a whole industry (papers, tv, radio, innernet) devoted to poring over each and every potentially noteworthy issue and making it into a discussion point, and getting anyone they can to offer their take on it, even if those people offering their opinion have no idea of the actual facts. Sorry 70's Mike, one light hearted comment and someone goes off on one...

    Hammond & Jaidi

Hammond seems to have it in him to play very well and when he does so we usually win. My problem with him is that he doesn't do it often enough and he goes missing we really struggle.
  9. Thrice.
  10. Thought it was just a small group doing most of the singing at MK away (league) last season.
  11. You might not want to get your hopes up. When I sat in block 2 we had the chorus of "take your seats please" all game, every game.
  12. You might not be as lonely a voice on that one..!
  13. | think that could be an interesting move, one which might benefit both players right now.
  14. While I'm not sure that a charity fund raising event counts as private, I'd say that this sums up the original complaint about the OP. I don't want to join in with the FF bashing, there seems to be a bit of an unfair bandwagon going on at the moment, but I think the OP shows that this particular subject (the views of 'club legends' on NC) isn't really appropriate for a harmless aside.

    Cortese Questions

I agree with this point although it seems an interesting contradiction that the booking charge "feels" like a stealth charge when it's actually more transparent than simply putting £2 on every ticket.
  17. We've lost six points and Pardew did nothing last year to suggest that we'd get anything from Swindon away. We're seven points off top and have to play five of the top six twice, that's potentially six points from each of them. Which the team should be aiming to achieve if they were ever serious about winning the division title this year.
  18. I didn't think of a yellow tree...
  19. Haha, whooshed me as well!
  20. At the JPT game there seemed to be a delusion going around that if Pardew was still in charge we'd have definitely won the game. Our records against Swindon was poor last season as well.
  21. I remember the Leicester fans were protesting against O'Neill in his first season there as he 'wasn't very good'.
  22. best. thread. ever.

    Adkins appointed

I'm absolutely positive that Pardew's sacking was not planned in advance. I agree that it looks like a good, solid appointment but it will be interesting to see if Adkins has the ability to coach and recruit the players needed to get us to the top division.

    Adkins appointed

Glad the appointment's been made but can't see him starting with a win - our match-winners are either injured, out of form or suspended and MK are due a win against us after last season. First home game on Saturday and we'll have Barney back so hopefully we can get on track then.
