  1. I wonder how well it would have gone down on here if in Pochettino's last interview as Southampton Manager he'd said he really wants to buy Adam Lallana at his new club...
  2. You almost make it sound like we were doing Bristol Rovers a favour by buying Lambert. Let alone the fact that we couldn't offer Hammond top flight football. By your logic, Liverpool and ManU should try and buy our players because they can offer a higher level of football next season. It sucks but this is just where we are on the food chain now and it was always going to be this way once we were promoted.
  3. One would assume they're only saying it now because the information only came out of the club in the last 24 hours... Or, they knew about it as soon as it happened then both decided to sit on it for 4 weeks and release it at that traditional slow news time on the eve of the world cup, which of course is just as likely.
  4. Read this earlier today... From: http://www.thefa.com/news/england/2014/jun/gareth-southgate-pleased-with-squad-depth-040614#qLlgmhJJR2rUIWr0.99
  5. Don't think that can be seen as indicative - I'm sure even the most clueless incoming board member would have recognised that it would have been a PR gaffe eclipsing all else to sell our star goalscorer as soon as they came in. It would have made it easier for Poch to walk in Jan as well. Far better (if S-Clarke's view has merit) to wait until summer and let things happen then.
  6. Which on Levy's record would be probably be a good thing... Seriously though, I think you're reading a bit too much into it. Reed is clearly more qualified than Krueger and the others to be in charge of this. If Krueger is as organisation minded as he seems to be then he'll ask Reed to make a case for each candidate on the shortlist detailing why he (Reed) believes each one can take the club forward within their structures (financial and organisational). I think it comes down to whether the director of football is good at their job or not. On the whole Reed seems to be doing a good job, wouldn't you say? Plus he has been involved with the club for five years or so now - from the outside it seems like he's earned that trust. Surely this process is better than the decision should be made by a Canadian ice hockey guy who has been involved with football for about 6 months and who would almost certainly have to contact an outside agency (like Lowe apparently did with Wotte and Poortvliet)?
  7. Saints rule!
  8. Like Manchester United were unwilling to sell Ronaldo or Tottenham were unwilling to sell Bale?
  9. Professor's posts have often come across as a bit odd but he increasingly appears to be on a wind up lately.
  10. Roy tried to sign Lallana for Fulham when we went into League 1 so I think it's safe to say that he would have been aware of our other players too.
  11. I just don't think I noticed him that much. I was probably busy moaning about Pardew. I'm inclined to trust you two's judgement on a player. I certainly don't think I expected him to become the player he was in our promotion season. But then I found it amazing how much he seemed to improve with each game. Still, I'm really interested in seeing how the 2014/15 season Sam Gallagher shapes up.
  12. Easy to forget that Oxo had a few games under Pardew towards the end of the first League 1 season and didn't (to me at least) give any indication that he would step up in the way that he did. Remember all the frustration expressed on here when we didn't manage to sign Antonio permanently? Here's hoping that a proper pre-season as part of the first team will give Sam the chance to really develop.
  13. "The world has gone mad"?
  14. Obviously we will never know but if you had to decide whether to play Flores or Jos at CB and select Osvaldo / unavailable or Michu in attack, would you really find either much of a dilemma?
  15. I think he's basically in a difficult position. He can't say we will not sell anybody - only Real Madrid and Barcelona can say that. If he says anything stronger than what he's said already then it will be interpreted as weakness, or an invite to offers. Personally I think he's got it right, but most certainly DON'T take it as a strong statement of intent to keep hold of everybody. If the figures are as they say, and someone comes along and offers in excess of £30 million for Shaw, then it must become very hard for the owners not to look at that and say 'great, we can half the debt and use the rest to buy a replacement while developing another youth prospect'. From the outside it seems likely that someone will go - possibly two. Personally I can see a bit of a bidding war for Shaw and after Arsenal's season Morgan looks a more likely target than ever. Obviously I hope not but if they rake in over £40 million between them then the accounts will start to look very friendly.
  16. I guess you need to define 'big' - there's plenty of wiggle-room in that statement. If the club said 'we refused offers from most of our players but had to let Morgan and Shaw move on' would you still be happy? After all, that wouldn't be a big player sale.

    Jumped Or Pushed

No it really isn't. Trolling is when you post something outrageous in order to provoke a reaction. And as for twisting a sentence and twisting it. I'm afraid, I didn't do that either. Rather than defensively accusing others of twisting things, it might be better for you to more closely consider what your posts are actually saying.

    Jumped Or Pushed

Okay, so the above is unbalanced and damning with faint praise but the below is 'balanced'. I genuinely find it hard to tell who is trolling who nowadays...
  19. That's an interesting situation as one would expect that your situation would be quite common. I assume your son doesn't have a customer number but maybe it would be good if you could either have a linked 'child' number or have your membership set up as a parent and child jobbie. I wonder how much the general way of selling tickets is constrained but the booking software that they're using...

    Bale

I was going to reply but I think others have covered it. The notion that he'd been as well to stay with us instead of developing under Jol, Ramos, Poyet for a time, Redknapp and AVB is slightly bizarre.

    Bale

It'd be interesting to hear what he should have done instead that would have seen him in a better place right now...
  25. They'd probably nick the toppings...
