  1. Don't feed the troll.
  2. It would also prevent us from having to play Cork wide right. In reply to Clifford, I recall Pardew stating that he coached Puncheon to be always looking to attack the goal. It'll be interesting to see how he does in an Adkins game plan.Glad he's back in the fold, although I had trouble reading this and eating my lunch at the same time:
  3. IIRC the overdraft limit was reduced to £4m and the club had got it down to around that amount. The amount that tipped us over (again from memory of what was posted on here) as in the region of £100k. As an aside, I personally think that if it wasn't for wider issues in the financial system at the time, that payment would never have been bounced at that time.
  4. Mirror bloke was being sarcastic. Just repeating in case people still don't understand...
  5. Has there been a history of violence against the fat or the read headed then? I mean I remember that as recently as the 60s practicing overeating was against the law but otherwise are you seriously comparing the different scenarios?
  6. So if someone elbowed your mate in the face you wouldn't remonstrate about it?
  7. Are you seriously suggesting MLT, Shearer and the Wallace brothers were successful because Merrington made them say their prayers???
  8. Maybe he'd have got more of a run in the team if he hadn't picked up that crazy dismissal at Bournemouth. Adkins seemed quite annoyed when Gobern left as he felt they'd made it clear he had a future here.
  9. Maybe replacing the fella that went to Brighton recently, David Burke?
  10. He meant the statue...
  11. Didn't Lee Barnard used to play for us?
  12. I think it's the thin end of the wedge thing. I'd assume it's going to be much easier for them to get permission for extra seats in there is going to be no impact on the external view of the ground.
  13. Enjoyed that, cheers. Especially the History Today 'ha ha ha ha ha'.
  14. The video's been flipped for some reason...
  15. I got the impression it was more Redknapp playing them all at once to send a message to Lowe (who had, apparently, been urging Redknapp to play more youth).
  16. His version of my old man said be a pompey fan is better.
  17. Or maybe he thinks that if Citeh want rid of him so bad then they can pay him what he's owed.
  18. Brings to mind a Clotteril gem from earlier in the season when he was still manager down the road. While bemoaning yet another red card, the Solent interviewer challenged him with the fact that Portsmouth had the worst disciplinary record in the division. His response? [in a voice to suggest the entire world had it in for them] 'Well, what does that tell you?'... Comedy genius. He should have a tv series.
  19. Good attitude - takes nothing for granted.
  20. Talk about using extreme examples to illustrate a point. Manchester City were in the third tier for two seasons as a result of appalling management. They were no more a third tier club than we were yet the way you write it suggests some kind of transformation from a tiny club to the Premiership challengers. Citeh have a massive and committed fanbase, even in the third tier. And the suggestion that Manchester United were playing in the Champions League with their academy site is ludicrous. They brought through five players, which is exceptional (so exceptional in fact that no British club that I'm aware of has done it since at that level), to play alongside the likes of Cantona, Keane, Sheringham, Stam, Schmeichel, Yorke, Cole, Kanchelskis, etc. And they were already an established site in the European competitions and one of, if not the, biggest side in the country. At a guess, I'd say it's a frustration that this delusion [of us being able to fill out a much larger ground on a regular enough basis to justify the expense] gets trotted out with alarming frequency on here with arguments like 'don't forget, Manchester United did it'...
  21. Can you edit your post and put a health warning on that link? The picture is one of the most revolting things I've ever seen...

    Gary Speed

Not just you. I don't think they should have put Savage in that position. He's an emotional guy and whoever set it up surely should have known that he would have been in bits. RIP Gary Speed and condolences to his friends and family.
  23. Probably because the FA have already said that the next England manager will be English...
  24. Do you really think that the police don't want away fans at matches? I can't see the clubs or the FA feeling the same way.
  25. Why? Personally I'd will never go to a bubble match, even if it was against Barcelona, let alone the fish fiddlers. Maybe I'm not alone in that...
