  1. But, we were in the Premiership then!
  2. So to summarise the last 11 pages, our "bankrupt" club is about to be taken over by someone who has successfully taken 5/6 other companies into bankruptsy. Is that it?
  3. Please don't say that SFC is a PLC. That's our cover blown!
  4. The Football League would have to find that we had broken the rules if they were to impose a 10 point deduction. Even they couldn't say, "You haven't broken any League rules but we still intend to impose a points deduction". Either way, the administrator would have the opportunity to challenge that decision through various means such as the High Court, Judicial Review or the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

    share price

To be precise, when Lowe returned in May last year the share price was 33.75p, valuing the company at £9,480,000. Today the price is 14.75p with a valuation of £4,143,000, which means that SLH has lost over 56% of its value since Lowe's return. I dread to think what it might have been if he hadn't come back to protect his investment!!!
  6. Sorry, I should have made it clear that we were talking about Southampton Football Club!
  7. I know that you would all love to believe that he still has a soft spot for us, but you seem to have forgotten that he was very happy to leave! I met him in a night club when he was still here and his exact words were, "I hate this club."
  8. Managerial changes, money spent on buying poor players, instabilty are all very similar to us. However, the Beeb article does say that their chairman and directors have loaned the club £14M and "cannot be accused of lacking commitment or a genuine desire to see Charlton flourish again", so there the similarity ends.
  9. Tim, is Ron aware that he was selected in the Saints Greatest Team?
  10. Matthew, without Ted Bates there would not have been a Lawrie McMenemy era. Ted was the architect and builder of Southampton FC. The only thing that separated Ted from Saints was death. Unlike others, he would never have left and was Southampton through and through. So it's Ted for me 100%.
  11. Absolutely right, Derry. And let's not forget the players that Ted brought through his "academy" such as Paine, Sydenham, Chivers, Channon, etc.
  12. A year ago today the share price was 46.75p, valuing SLH at £13.13M. Today the share price has closed at 18p with a total value for the company of just over £5M. That's a decline of 61.5% in the last year and, for what it's worth, a decline of 47% since Lowe returned to protect his investment in May last year. Make of that what you will.
  13. Saints team in the 1st half was: Forecast - Hatch, Size, Perry, Molyneux - James, Smith, Gillet, McGoldrick - Lallana, Holmes. 2nd half: Forecast - Imudia, Wotton, Lancashire, Mills - Schneiderlin, Boyle, Pulis, Wright-Philips - Saganowski, Gasmi. Conspiracy theorists might like to hazard a guess as to why Davis, Surman and Skacel did not feature.
  14. Southampton used to have a floodlit 5-aside youth league and I played in the same team as Martin Chivers. Martin was unstoppable, scored over 100 goals in that season and we won the league comfortably. At the end-of-year awards ceremony, the trophies were presented by Terry Paine who turned up wearing a gold lame suit, very much living up to his nickname of Elvis. Martin never seems to be remembered as much as some of his contemporaries and yet his scoring record was excellent - 106 goals in 190 games for Saints, 174 in 367 for Spurs and 13 in 24 for England.
  15. Ron Davies! Ron Davies! Ron Davies!
  16. If you want Ron Davies (or anybody else for that matter) in the A team, then DO NOT vote for him here. My vote for the B team goes to Keegan.
  17. Skacel picked up calf strain in training. Suspension starts next week.
  18. Back in the year 2000, I suggested to Rupert Lowe that if he could get Dell Computers to sponsor the stadium, then we could continue to call our home "The Dell". He advised me that the Club had already thought of that and Dell Computers were not interested!
  19. But he had a whistle in his mouth and he blew it on 3 occasions! You really should take off those red & white glasses.
  20. You were booing the ref because he disallowed 3 Blackpool "goals"?
  21. :mad:Touche. I was right about Puckett though.
  22. The commentator was Brian Moore and he said that the ball was turned in by Puckett. A hearing test for you I think.
  23. I didn't realise how bad the other fan forums are until TSF wasn't there. I searched everywhere to discuss the West Ham game but it was like a desert out there. Well done to the Admin for getting the forum back up. We will really miss those who don't want to pay £5 per year.
