  1. NP would be just the right appointment following recent events - respect from the players; a majority of the fan base and an investment in the momentum and future the new ownership represents.
  2. You'd hear me cheering from Brisbane if Nigel get's a recall.
  3. Entirely the right decision. A fresh start for the club following this astonishing and incredibly welcome takeover. Even if MW had been up to the job which I doubt.....his departure clears most of the stench of the Lowe era. To my mind keeping Wotte in the new era after losing Pearson following Lowe's return would have been the new administration's first major mistake.
  4. All things being equal...BWP and JE would be influential players in L1.
  5. He is really not that good a player...and certainly not Prem. League class.
  6. Yep, I agree...It's hard to see a win at Sheffield Wed.....Burnley won't be easy; will we still be capable of staying up by the time the Nott. Forest game comes along ! It's funny how hopes and expectations change as things get grimmer; League 1 as opposed to oblivion is a pretty good outcome.
  7. Spot on Bones. I stand to be corrected, but since Saints were relegated on that final day after going down to Man U. I don't think I've seen a win on TV/Sky since ! A little miracle is needed now to stay afloat, don't you think ?
  8. Yes, in the washup, I'm almost as sickened by the Wilde legacy as I am disgusted by Lowe's "contributions" to SFC. I remember what an optimistic period it was when Wilde appeared with his manifesto of change...what a complete letdown.
  9. I agree with you on this one Nick. If Lowe stays, so in all probability will Wotte. And to be fair, thus far, he would deserve the chance. A significant change of boardroom would almost certainly mean a change of Manager.
  10. No you didn't !
  11. If we go down - I don't want to think about it either - WT would be good value as a Div 1 CB, given Size will be gone.
  12. Nick, you may have 7000 posts, but Alpine's recall of events leading up to the "non-appointment" of NP and the master plan of Lowe/Wilde to go Total Football seems a lot more consistent than your stance. I well remember your "scepticism" about Pearson and your encouragement of "true fans" to get behind the Lowe vision of youth driven, Dutch master-minded football. Now, you seem to have edged away from that position to blend into the dissatisfied army - at least Alpine has had the conviction to stick to his original fears. You would do well to acknowledge that you, and quite a few others got it seriously wrong on this one!
  13. Thanks Wes, your summaries and comments are invariably on the money. Agree with your closing paragraphs. Notwithstanding the financial problems, we should never have been dangling on the precipice of relegation like we are, with sensible decision making earlier in the season. Two other observations at this crucial point of the season....make more use of Euell, and do something about the full backs, particularly on the right side!
  14. Thanks for the summary Marco. My only quibble is does our new manager deserve that much credit for doing something that has seemed bleedingly obvious for so long.....play a 4 4 2 formation.
  15. Yes, agree totally. I would add Perry to that list. Of the games I've seen, Rudi has put in a decent effort and shown his class.....you could hardly blame him for losing motivation...even if only half of the reports of his treatment by Lowe are true.
  16. Have to agree.....4th time I've seen him through Sky and Sentanta - poor player; out of his depth. Davis, Perry, Skacel only three of worth today.
  17. 9.6 hours to midnight???
  18. I agree with MLT and also with beatlesaint....will be a decent bit of necessary business....there are others more important to keep
  19. Winning against the odds makes it all a little sweeter, doesn't it! Fantastic to wake up to a result like this. The team sheet had a good look of balance to it. It's been a great 24 hours for the underdog.....NZ beating Oz in the League Final was a sweet result too....about 6k Great Britain supporters in the crowd, all barracking for NZ. How did Rudi play?; can we keep Lallana? Well done BWP...he's copped a lot of stick....I just wish that ex-pats could see Saints produce an effort like this on a SKY game. Tremendous admiration for all fans who travelled.
  20. I agree with this view. Only seen him in the televised game v Bristol R. where he was out of his depth and looked clumsy at times and well off the pace. On the games I've seen on the box this season, there are several young players who ae either out of their depth or needing much more time......ie Lancashire; James; Gobern; Mills; Thompson; Gillet......and while I'm on a somewhat negative roll.....sadly I don't see Andrew Surman ever becoming a top player despite his local lad, clean cut image....he is a good CCC player who will always be to easily brushed off the ball and lacks a cutting edge of pace to ever cut it in better company....Lallana is clearly the better future prospect.
  21. You might be right about Davenport - but to call Camara a poor player is plainly wrong...he played some great football while with SFC. I think there's been a lot of over-the-top bile and hatred directed at Redknapp; I understand why. But the fact that he is a good Manage is beyond dispute in my view.
  22. Yep. Euell should be in the starting line up - either in mid-field or up front - I think he should always start ahead of Wotton, who has to be the most astonishing signing of the season; may as well have kept Jermaine Wright than have picked up this fellow.
  23. Will they send him to Coventry?
  24. Agree with Alpine. The sale of Lallana, if, and when it happens, will be a continuing trend of desperate selling of our most marketable players to cover the abysmal running of the club - the dip in attendances is a convenient alibi. The selling of players like Lallana is likely to result in more crowd absentee such is the vicious circularity of the trend of fire-selling.
